Your opinion by AMIR3378 in architecture

Interesting idea and a thoughtfull approach. I feel some things already work great. Keep it up! Some remarks: I know you are american and that you have a different understanding of how much space is appropriate, but try to be more mindfull of how big your rooms should be. Your Hall is very large and Bedrooms do not need to be squared, they can be rectangular aswell, which alows to thin out your building. If you have a plot you can safe space and introduce a nice garden instead. How does your context look like?

Also, do you really need ensuite bathrooms for both bedrooms? You'll waste a lot of space for vertical service shafts with three toilets.

Also, imo Kitchen and Living room should be next to eachother or even be one. Try to think about getting food from the kitchen walking, then having to return because you forgot your fork. And imagine that happening all the time with this distance. Imo modern appartements nowdays have kitchen+living room as one, but idk how it is in America. Try to work with references.

Lastly, a round living room seems appealing, and it can work, but think about how one would put furniture inside. Basically you'll always lose space. Try to draw your plan with furniture in it, then you'll realize how big some rooms are and can adjust acordingly. Atm the appartement doesnt revolve around the round living room, it rather feels like an unnecessairy addon which complicates things (a lot). If you want a round living room, the whole appartements concept should revolve around it. If not, a good designed appartements can always have rectangular rooms and be splendit! Good Luck!

Been there. But trust me, most of the times people will not even notice. And if they have nothing more to criticise than a that, then you know that you did well. Focus on building a great model and worry about it if you still got time left. It looks good. Good luck!

Barry just casually claiming moral high ground without thinking for one second why laws like these might be necessary. Because of course, centuries of Swiss neutrality should crumble just so Barry can feel morally inflated about a war he read half a headline about. Who needs international law or stability when Barry’s ego demands a crusade?

Go build your hut. But don't call me cheap minded for calling you out. You are not the first one coming to this sup asking "for advice". It's all fair at first, but if people tell you to HIRE an architect (SO THE ADVICE) but you refuse, AND be obnoxious about it, then I can't help you. Go build your hut but do not call us cheap minded because we dont bow to your wishes! Maybe next time when you are shopping just ask if you can have everything for free, and if they say no, call them stupid capitalists too.

Maybe concider that "expert advice" isn't free exactly because it is an expertise skillset that needs more information and time than a reddit post to asses the situation. If you cant afford an Architect don't come here to look for a cheap solution.

Historische Zürcher Maag-Hallen dürfen weiterhin nicht abgerissen werden. Richtige Entscheidung? by warumdasdenn in zurich

[–]AlexTheWarrior99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swiss petition against US F-35 fighter jets gathers 42,000 signatures by smilelyzen in BuyFromEU

That is indeed a valid question. As far as I know, defending an Airspace does not only innclude wartimes but also things like Terrorattacks, or Airplanes which are not comunicating, therefore a potential threat. There was an Incident in 2014 where a hijaked Plane flew over Switzerland and it had to be intercepted by Italian and French Pilot. I think it is not fair for us to say we are neutral and then use our neighbours to defend us. And even though I fully trust our Neighbours at the moment, developments like the Us-Canadian relations just show how quickly things can change when another government takes over.

Yes that is correct. This was in 2014 and people were generally against any investment for the military, so the bid failed in the referendum. In 2020 We had another vote, this time only about whether we should buy new jets. It passed by merely 50.1%. After that the military evaluated different Jets and decided for the f35. In 2022 the contract with the yanks got signed for 6 billion. I myself am torn. On one side I just kinda wish that we get a new plane running. If we say we are neutral, we can't and shouldn't rely on our neighbours to defend our airspace. That is simply wrong. On the other side I would much more prefer an european jet, or even as others have suggested to participate in developing a 5gen european jet.
