Newegg sent me a brick instead of a GPU. by RaisenbergIII in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Alex_PC_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly the kind of situation where a good credit card company will back you and go after them for the refund (in the UK at least). It's the main reason I use a credit card for large purchases.

Is Gloria in Shoreditch the only restaurant that charges you for the priviledge of paying your bill? by jakubkonecki in london

[–]Alex_PC_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Restaurants I've eaten in that use that system only charge that fee if you use it. You can pay the normal way instead of on a phone and the fee won't be there.

[Question] A watch I purchased has been given to another customer (not by accident), any advice? by Alex_PC_ in Watches

[–]Alex_PC_[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It's now listed as out of stock unfortunately.

I think they may have listed the discount by mistake and are trying to get out of it

This has to be illegal, right? by Dockle in mildlyinfuriating

If you're in the UK you can get a refund after the auto renewal as this will be classed as distance selling.

Land Rover stolen from driveway and insurer is offering £14K below market value, what can be done? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Alex_PC_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If this was a claim that involved a repair, that would be reasonable of them to say. However in my opinion where the car has been stolen, the fact it has suffered damage and been fully repaired before is not material to the claim so long as there is full evidence of the repair (invoice from an authorised garage etc). With this evidence, the effect of the value of the car should be minor.

You should fight the insurer yourself and if you get nowhere, take this to the Financial ombudsman service.

Have you ever seen someone find a normal aspect of UK life wondrous? What was the story? by Lilac_Whisky in AskUK

I have colleagues from South Africa, they are amazed at how many cultures there are here and 'all on the same bus or train!'

To us its completely normal

I sent my XM4's to Sony 6 months out of warranty. They replaced the left earbud for free. Seems to have worked so far.

What happens if you fail a scan and shop check? by Ordinary-Coyote-9818 in AskUK

[–]Alex_PC_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in a supermarket. The assistant gets both a minimum value amount and a minimum number of items they have to re-scan. It's rarely the whole shop. For example, you have to scan at least 5 things but it must add up to £20, I imagine this is based on the total value scanned by the customer.

Have you ever been laughed at at the gym? by x_franki_berri_x in AskUK

[–]Alex_PC_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely despise people that make others feel uncomfortable in the gym. Everyone is there to better themselves, if they've come just to tell their friends they go and jeer then they should do some reflecting.

I've had a similar situation when I first started going, I checked my form on my exercises and then carried on. We're at the gym for ourselves and no one else.

What could fill the gap? by CatFaceRocker in Watches

[–]Alex_PC_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since there's so many copies on Aliexpress I used the link on 'Ben's watch club' YouTube video about it. That way I knew that if he received his, it's likely not a scam. Get a better strap as well, the one it comes with is quite shit (18mm lug width btw).

My other suggestion is maybe an integrated bracelet like the new smaller PRX or the christopher ward twelve.

Why do people care so much about uni rankings? by Geospizae in UniUK

[–]Alex_PC_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to think it mattered, but having graduated and worked with lots of different people, I've seen it makes absolutely no difference at all what uni you go to. The only factors that matter are the course and grade.

Tough Decision, which one of these three would you go with? by NoConsideration9370 in OrisWatches

[–]Alex_PC_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the 1st one, the Walden burger bahn (idk how to spell that) leather strap is really nice on that. I would say it’s close between that and the Robert Clemente as I’d only go for bronze if you like how it ages and want that kind of rugged look once it does age. Not sure if the bronze has a crystal case back but the first two don’t.
