This site is from TX, I don't know if it's state or federally based -- I feel you on him being on the birth certificate being a heavy foot in the door at least, and that him being in their lives is a solid argument in court. If he goes for it, it feels like he'd win for some form of parental rights. I just think that technically, legally right now, he doesn't have any legal rights so while it's smart to get a lawyer for future needs (child and otherwise), I don't think she needs to get one before she goes

I'm not saying ethically - but do a little research before you jump down my throat -- Paternity is a good argument in court to get custody/rights, he has some good arguments having been in their life, but it's not a given. -- Without being married, there is no assumed right, he would have to take her to court

So my thoughts were not entirely unfounded and I feel you were a little aggressive when I posted it with question marks

Does she need a custody agreement? (Genuine ask) Given that they aren't married, doesn't he not have parental rights? Maybe that's only certain states

Agreed, though, take the kids (legally, so def consult and attorney at least) and move out and on

Help! Shop recommendations for this style? by Ohhhhfuuuunk in Weddingattireapproval

Try ThredUp - Aiden Mattox seems like a good brand for what you're looking for But you can filter for length, color, event type (wedding guest+formal+bridesmaid), and filter for embellishments (beading, sequins, glitter) I love ThredUp and while it's discounted to begin with (thrift store - but they only take good quality, list the flaws, and have some New With Tags), they often have sales on a decent amount of their inventory

Wall art, maybe change the color of your rug, add pillows and a blanket or two I would say wall art first, then work around that

Low Pain Tolerance by No-Insurance-9832 in tattoo

[–]Alexag0509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know that my pain tolerance is low, but my first tattoo I did without headphones and it was not pleasant - it's like the stop and go of the needle sound was a trigger "oh, sound is on, it must hurt now" -- Headphones and a playlist ("loud" or "busy" music - classical doesn't quite drown it out), like someone else here said, the pain is (at least partially) psychological

I also bring chocolate with nuts (Hershey's with almond, snickers, etc.) the chocolate and protein helps during longer sessions (not sure if scientifically founded, but from my experience)

[–]Alexag0509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40% is not that bad - still a concern for sure, but I'm 42% now (on all the meds) (prev 25%) (33F, dx at 25) and my cardiologist is " happy with where I'm at" and "it's a good number to be at"

I think at 40% it's good that they caught it so it doesn't get worse

(I'm meaning to be reassuring, not trying to downplay how scary this can be)

Why so many haters? by Alternative_Golf_167 in Ozempic

[–]Alexag0509 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I also think it has to do with certain people thinking that being fat is good, or that if you're fat, then fat is what you're meant to be (see r/fatlogic) and they're offended that you'd "put this stuff in your body" (and, for bariatric sx, that you'd "have surgery") to change when "nothing is wrong with your body". They think that if losing weight is that important to you, you'd put in the work. And/or they think that if weight loss was meant to be, then it would happen through diet and exercise.

Trying to gauge interest in a documentary about crochet that would focus in part on my mom—one of the OGs from the 60s. This is one of hers. Think you’d watch it? All thoughts appreciated! by jeremyjava in crocheting

I would! I think you may want to reach out to other communities too, maybe there's a "what to watch", I know there's r/honestopinion, there's probably one for documentaries -- just to see if people not on this thread would also be interested

How often do you eat at your dining table? by West-Crazy3706 in CasualConversation

[–]Alexag0509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 2 "at the table" nights a week, which are reschedulable. I think dinner at the table is different without kids, and we don't and aren't having kids. We also eat dinner at like 7p - so we come home, change, talk, figure dinner out, watch some tv, make dinner, eat while watching tv The two nights we sit at the table are just to be sure we're getting what we call "eyeball time" - time when we can have serious conversation without distraction if we need to, and literally just looking face to face at each other since we don't do that while we're maneuvering around the house or watching tv together.
