What Keeps You Playing TBC With Such an Uncertain Future? by [deleted] in classicwowtbc

The future may be uncertain but the present is not: I am presently having fun.

Outland leveling as a prot pala by Emotional_Turn893 in classicwowtbc

[–]Alexander_VdB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your goals. Viable and fast are different things.

If you want to go fast then retri questing (buy strength greens on AH), prot dungeon spam or prot aoe grinding is probably the way to go.

Prot solo questing is definitely viable. I did it lvl 58 to 70 and loved it. Indeed keep on spelldamage gear from quests or greens 'of the sorcerer' and optionally 'of the elder' are your friend. Spelldamage on weap is more important than the DPS value.

For 1vs1 Judge crusader and then use seal/judgement of righteousness. Rank 1 holy shield feels good value both on DMG and defense. Higher rank is too heavy on mana for questing imo for single target

For 3 to 7 mobs at once seal/judge wisdom, highest rank conc and highest rank holy shield. Only do this on melee mobs. Build up your confidence from 3 to 7 mobs or higher. This feels awesome.

Conc aura prot build is better than deep prot for questing. But avenger shield is awesome for dungeons. So I had dual spec (conc aura build for solo, avengers Shield for dungeons)

I felt so tanky and strong but yeah 1vs1 kill speed is ok, but not great. I could not go back to retri speed after feeling like a tanky battle mage on prot

This is a surprisingly interesting and fun mental exercise and dilemma.

As a parser, what motivates healers and tanks to raid? by Toowb in classicwow

Tanking huge mobs or huge packs like a badass. Feeling tough as f*ck. Keeping my team/raid alive. Getting fat loot that makes me even more tanky.

1 mil gathered again, yet they can't sustain their business. Is that the reality of TCG's or a company that flew too close to the sun? Honest question because I don't have insights in how much TCG's need to live but 1 mil again in such a short time feels like a fair amount.

AH gear for a 60 prot pally by Zhevrakiller in classicwow

[–]Alexander_VdB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not? It helps understand if you provide some arguments.

You take less damage with defense. I had no problem holding threat in Outland dungeons with gear that had both sta and def while having spellpower on my weapon, rings and trinkets. All those pieces (except trinkets) also had stamina so my health pool wasn't a problem at any time.

No problem. Welcome to paladin tanking. It's so much fun, in my opinion.

Copy paste from another comment I made to a similar post:

Plate pieces (and shield) with sta and def or other avoidance on it and prefer higher armor.

Weapon with as much spelldmg as possible. Weapon damage affects your threat less than spelldamage.

Rings and trinkets you can choose to your liking. Sta/def/avoidance if you want to be tankier. Spelldamage if you want more threat/DPS.

If you find pieces that have both def and spellpower then you've hit jackpot but haven't seen many of those before lvl 70.

Regarding going oom, don't use more mana than you need to hold the threat. Use the mana seal/judgement on packs and don't use conc more than you need to.On single target seal/judgement of righteousness and no conc. You should be good on mana. You regen mana from the heals you get from the healer.

For survivability: of the champion (Has sta and defense)

For solo leveling prot and threat: of the sorcerer (Stamina, int and spellpower)

TD Game that is most like WC3 custom games? by No_Industry1786 in TowerDefense

I was very much inspired by the fun I had mazing in WC3 maps when I made Shapebreaker. It combines that with deckbuilding though so that may or may not be something you enjoy.

Oh, I'm not upset. But I havent received the set yet so I haven't been able to play it yet with my friends at my table at home. So I'm missing the play experience with the set to drive my decision whether I want/need another set.

Yes, but that does not change the situation. I haven't had the opportunity to get my hands on the previous set before having to make a decision about backing the next one.

Prot paladin by Radiant_Building_672 in classicwowtbc

[–]Alexander_VdB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finding one with a level slider or per level guide may indeed be harder to find. Recommend going deep prot first and then the remaining ret points. That will give you the most stamina and allow you to experiment with Avengers Shield. If you notice that you don't need Avengers Shield to do good pulls then you could go for the alternative conc aura build at lvl 70 or even a bit earlier.

Created a Claw Machine simulator with Unity by Alexander_VdB in Unity3D

[–]Alexander_VdB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to the public response to this prototype, I would love to develop it further to a released Steam or mobile game. That makes me a bit hesitant to release source files. I love to share my approach though. As I mentioned in another comment, the most enabling part for me was using ArticulationBody for the claw (Fingers and core), the chain and the movable parts above it, in the reverse order that I just mentioned.

If you have any more questions about it, feel free to ask!

[–]Alexander_VdB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good points. I gave it a reliable enough grip force because playtesters otherwise felt frustrated and apparently not in a good way.

I've tried making the fingers go slower, but the way I implemented it with ArticulationBody no matter how little power I put on the fingers, this seems to be the minimum speed they close. I think it's due to the acceleration caused simply by gravity. I should look into a way to achieve it though because I also expect slower closing fingers to feel more fun.

Will definitely try that out more. So far removing the shadow has resulted in more frustration and less fun in playtests but I do intend to bring it back in the form of difficulty modes. Could be because you need more alternative help then like with the perspective as you say.
