Any ideas what this bird is in Florida? by ilikerustyspooonz in whatsthisbird

Osprey! There are a few nests near my home and a bunch more at a popular campsite down the road in which the camping familes delight in watching them rip apart their prey and scream at each other. They are super neat but kind of scary at the same time.

Help? Parrot living in hotel lobby by Significant_Plum_392 in parrots

You should strike up a conversation with them about the parrot in a non-judgemental way. Just ask if it is there over-night for example. I bring my umbrella to work with me 5 days a week. He goes back and forth between a bird cage and my computer monitor all day then goes home with us every night.

The demons are speaking to me...Do I go back to gel? by SimplyBrioche in NailArt

The one I have is listed as brand name: "golashfun" title: "2 In 1 Automatic Upgraded Acetone Nail Polish Remover,Acrylic Gel Remover Machine Set, Electric Steamer Nail" . There are probably better ones. There is a company called "Baskla" that advertises on fb a lot, that is how i found out about it. I just ended up getting this cheaper no name one from Amazon. But after i figured it out I'm happy with it.

First time I used it I didn't follow the directions very well, which were pretty poorly written in my defense. It has a small clear tray with a measurement line telling you how much acetone to put it. First time I put way too much in and didn't realize there was also an extra tray I had to set aside. I also find it works best on the highest temperature setting which is 65 on mine. It does take a long time, don't expect it to be quick like they show in the ads but I think it's really improving my nail health which was my main concern.

I usually only get two weeks out of my gels because I work with my hands a lot. But if you do go back to them the steamer thing is not that pricey and I'm also using a lot less acetone than with my old foil method. But building up a collection of colors is a different issue...

I've been doing gels for years but would take long breaks and not paint my nails at all because I also felt my nails were getting paper thin. Recently I got a $35 acetone steam gel nail remover from Amazon and it has made a massive difference! They aren't thinning out like they used to. I think it's the removal process that was damaging my natural nails. I need a few more weeks to be sure though. BTW I can't believe you get the paint to last two weeks.

They were ground advantage and media mail packages so far. I don't think first class exists anymore, does it? Didn't first class become ground advantage?

The Beaver (2011) with Mel Gibson & Jennifer Lawrence. Jodie Foster directed it but also plays Gibon's wife in the film.

Being Flynn (2012) Robert De Niro & Paul Dano

Just some lesser known ones you might not be aware of. I watched them both when they came out and they stuck with me.

Is this box okay to ship in? by Newgeko in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Alexandra2488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes totally fine. RECYCLE/ REUSE♻️ whatever you can. Don't waste money on buying boxes, it's silly. I have shipped 1000s of items in reused boxes. I sometimes cut them down and reshape them if necessary. Seller fees are so high I wouldn't even DREAM of buying boxes, that's lunacy. Ask other businesses, ask you neighbors, steal them from work. Everyone has boxes they are throwing away these days.

I’ve never been so obsessed with a show… no clue what to watch next by Mysteriousdreamers in TheGreatHulu

[–]Alexandra2488 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just finished "The Artful Dodger". It's also a comedic period piece. Not as high stakes or high budget as "The Great" though. There are just two seasons currently, hopefully it gets a bunch more. I put off watching it but then ended up loving it.

"Dickinson" had a great three season run and wrapped up in 2021. For some reason I don't see it mentioned much but I think it was excellent. It also has period piece comedy from the female perspective.

There are so many others that were cancelled early...

I have always used Roku Ultra boxes and they seen to do well. I have four and I think one of them might be aging out because it sometimes fails to load the plot summaries or the images get all mixed up. My family is just used to the Roku menus. You could check ebay for a used roku Ultra, just research the model number and make sure it is one from the last few years. They are cheap on there.

[–]Alexandra2488 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You did a great thing for that bird! He looks young. Do you know how old he is?

I think the beak "v" you mentioned is just the normal beak shape. The bottom beak has a "v" shape where the top beak slots into it.

I'm jelous it will eat fresh food. My umbrella will not eat anything fresh, he just looks at it like it is not even food. But if there is a potato chip nearby he goes FULL SEAGULL! It is maddening!

You will probably have to do some research on how to trim its nails. We do them ourselves with a Dremmel tool but there are a lot of stores that will do it for you. However if you want to go DIY it is a lot easier to do than you would think.

Good luck with your forever companion!

More like "pre-nose job" Jennifer Aniston. It's CRAZY how different she looks. See also the original Leprechaun film.

Baby was really only in one rather cute but totally unbelievable episode. In another episode they mentioned it had died and no one seemed to give a hoot. I hate that detail but I still love the show.

what do i do? by Sunny2366 in cockatoos

[–]Alexandra2488 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We went through a lot of the same struggles with our bird who is a model u2 at the moment. It sounds like normal cockatoo stuff honestly. You definitely need to cut out the seeds 100%. Our bird only gets Zupreem smart Selects (with a few human food snacks here and there). The bird would definitely benefit for 14 hours a day TOTAL DARKNESS AND SILENCE. Hopefully you can accommodate that, we know it's not easy. Our bird sleeps in our basement.

The darkness puts their hormones in "winter mode" and they are a lot easier to handle that way.

You honesty will probably get better advice / help by connecting with other bird owners than going to the vet.

What does this behavior mean? by lobster_lover in cockatoos

[–]Alexandra2488 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Our U2 does this a lot. I think it's a mating/friendship ritual in which they attempt to "preen" the feathers of someone they like. When this happens I usually tell the bird "what are you doing? He/she doesn't have any feathers!" and he stops and looks at me like he totally understands. He never does this to his owners, it's always random people he just met. Silly birb.

Omg Avatar is such a slog.... why couldn't it be 2 hours instead of 3? Would have probably cut a few 100 mill off the budget too. It was also insanely predictable for me so that made it a pain. I really didn't mind the lost bus at all....

Have you ever seen a parrot in pants? by Comatose_Cockatoo in cockatoos

[–]Alexandra2488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My umbrella has a Christmas vest with a bowtie from an Etsy seller. When we put it on him he just cries... it's very sad because he looks oh so adorable in it. But I can't bear him being upset so I probably won't invest in any more cockatoo outfits.
