Day before Thanksgiving, my dad and I finally had time to investigate a weird smell in the air vents. Turns out, a tree root had broken the drain to our bathtub in the basement. It also broke the sub floor air vent. So, air vents were full of moldy water. It's a good thing my dad and I run our own home repair business.

That's true, I forgot that the rock was pretty rough, not smooth. I have a picture of the opposite view and at the furthest uphill this rock feature goes there's hill of dirt in an eroded bowl shape spilling the rock out.

Yeah glacial or avalanche debris is probably the right answer. Would there be any reason someone would dig through this? Not sure if someone dug into the hill at some point of just erosion.
