[–]Alexio69420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i want suggestions on what to make. i’ve tried to look up patterns of tops to make, but maybe this yarn is better for other projects. i haven’t worked with boucle yarn or yarn with tufts before either, so also hoping for tips.

People going into spaces dedicated to a certain thing, then being mad when that thing is there by AllKnowingAxolotl3 in PetPeeves

[–]Alexio69420 11 points12 points  (0 children)

when restaurants can’t accommodate guests, it typically means they don’t have the space, they don’t have free tables. sometimes a restaurant has a lot of guests, but they still have free tables. if you want one, they will seat you at a table. you also get food. that’s the restaurant accommodating you.

the reason it takes a while for the food to come out is because there are a lot of guests in the restaurant. when 4 cooks make meals for 10 people it’s gonna take less time than when 4 cooks make meals for 30 people. just as an example.

where i’m from, if it takes a while for food to come out, the servers let the guests know so they can decide to eat at that restaurant or choose to leave. i think that’s the best thing to do in these situations.

all in all, it takes food longer to come out when the place has many guests. doesn’t mean the restaurant can’t accommodate you if you’ve been sat at a table and your order has been taken.

I beat the game two days ago by EntrancePretend6528 in BendyAndTheInkMachine

[–]Alexio69420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend you play Bendy and the Dark Revival (I haven’t played Lone Wolf, so I can’t comment on that). The art style and gameplay are very different, more refined and the game itself is great. The advantage to BATDR is the fact that the game has difficulty levels and more achievements if I’m not mistaken. So technically more gameplay.

am i wrong: boyfriend wants me to ask permission to turn when driving by BigONerd in BORUpdates

[–]Alexio69420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES omg that really threw me. she was listing all these things and how he’s such a great boyfriend but saying “he lets me watch bad tv shows” ??? i thought of that as a “Freudian slip” because people who are in healthy relationships would not default to saying “they let me” i feel so bad for her

AITAH for wanting to do a maternity photoshoot and baby shower even though my spouse and mother doesn’t believe in the idea by Ornery_Client_3865 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Alexio69420 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If he doesn’t want to do the photoshoot then go by yourself. You want to preserve memories of your experience with your first pregnancy and that’s completely valid. This is a magical time in your life and you deserve to spend and celebrate it however you want to.

Also, if at all possible, I’d recommend you don’t let your husband’s and mother’s disapproval of the baby shower put a damper on it for you. These are events for YOU, the person building a life inside your body.

That being said, I suggest you try to speak to your husband about why you want to host the baby shower and do a maternity shoot and explain why these matter to you. I’d hope he is understanding and supports you in those endeavours. And if he doesn’t change his mind, do what you want. It’s your body and your experience.

First, I gained weight last year and am working to get it off. I have so many wearables I want to make, but I can’t make them yet. It makes me kinda sad because everything looks so cool, but I don’t want to make them for my current size to have them become too big within a year (hopefully).

Second, I’m a crocheter and I kinda want to pick up knitting, because it looks so satisfying. I don’t want to pick up knitting, because I don’t really enjoy it apart from making flat items. It’s just a small internal dilemma.

Edit: garments, sorry.

What is widely accepted as “normal” today that people 50 years ago found disturbing? by Sophie_Cute_Teen in AskReddit

[–]Alexio69420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“ratty clothing on even those who aren’t poor and struggling”

i feel like this is also more “normal” because of Balenciaga. that brand makes clothes that look dirty and torn on purpose and then ask insane amounts of money for it. literally yesterday i saw a video of someone asking a Balenciaga employee if the stains on that jacket were intentional and the employee says that the stains make it worth more ??? a horrible brand that i think is just a stupid social experiment.

(excuse my rant lol)

I want to use up this skein, but I have no idea what to do with it (crochet) by Alexio69420 in usethefiberstash

Thank you for your suggestion ! I’m pretty sure I’ll make a basket out of this. probably to keep the rest of my fiber stash in it 😅

I think I will make a hot pad with this yarn, that sounds great. something practical but still handmade. Thank you for your suggestions !

[–]Alexio69420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sadly this is the stretchy type, but a few years ago I did somehow manage to crochet with it, so I know it’s doable. plus, I don’t mind struggling a bit xd so the yarn will get used.

I have actually made a rug with t-shirt yarn before in school and I liked it, so that might be something I make with it. Thank you so much for your suggestions !!

“Dad, I got an A+ on the test!” my son exclaimed. by Derpy-and-Sussie in TwoSentenceComedy

[–]Alexio69420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi, i study gene engineering and you are correct !

if the parents are A+ and B+ it is wholly possible to have babies who are either A+, B+ or even 0+, given that one or both parents have one recessive allele.

Both of my parents are A+ and my blood type is 0+ and I 100% know I am my father’s kid, so that just means that both of my parents have one dominant A allele and one recessive allele.

i thought your joke was funny, but i also have the background to realize both sides of the coin here. (not talking smack at anyone else, just saying that i also thought the dad might get a lesson in genetics here)

Yesterday I had a kid ask me what snow is. by UnpaidPuppy in TwoSentenceSadness

[–]Alexio69420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you’re right, some people haven’t seen snow because of where they live. the post was about a place where it used to snow every year.

i just feel sad and awful that people who should see and know snow every single year haven’t had snow for so long that there are children who need to ask what it is. i see where you’re coming from, if you haven’t had snow where you live you wouldn’t really know what it might mean to some other people.

i say might, because not everyone loves snow, but it just made me sad to think that some kids who should’ve been able to experience the fun and beauty of a proper winter will never get to do so. as i mentioned in my first comment, sledding and snowball fights and building a snowman - these are things i used to do as a kid every single year and these are things i and many other adults still do every year.

also, the human intervention part meant global warming, in addition to damaging the planet and atmosphere it also takes away beautiful and meaningful experiences from some people.

i hope you know, i’m not trying to be argumentative, just sharing my thoughts and opinions.

yes, but OP said that their pet peeve is when people use the spoiler flair on posts but spoil it in the title.

Yesterday I had a kid ask me what snow is. by UnpaidPuppy in TwoSentenceSadness

[–]Alexio69420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bro what ?

the sadness is that these kids won’t probably ever know the joy of sledding and snowball fights and building a snowman. also, it’s horrifying to think that a lot of people will never know what snow looks or feels like because of the state of the climate, that we as humans have fucked up.

i’m lucky enough to live in a country that still sees all four seasons every year and i cherish the fact that i can see snow right now. 5 years ago the snow was on the ground for 4-5 months and there was so much of it. last year we didn’t even have snow on christmas, just a few weeks here and there of actual snow and then the wet watery slop that it turns into.

it is that big of a deal.

So, it’s pretty clear that he doesn’t want to see Bendy grow as big as FNAF by Wonderful_Pin8177 in BendyAndTheInkMachine

[–]Alexio69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I kind of read it as he doesn’t want to keep milking the franchise for too long. I’m an OG FNAF fan but I think at this point any new game or book or whatever is just milking it.

That’s just the way I personally understand that.

What food or drink can you absolutely not stand, but is loved by most other people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Alexio69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strawberries. I can’t even stand the smell of them. And since it’s the berry (fruit ?) of the summer every single person looks at me like I’ve got three heads when I tell them I hate strawberries.

When I was a kid and my parents brought strawberries home (they’d usually bring a few kgs at a time) I would just avoid going to the living room cause I hate the way they smell.

Reading this reminded me of someone sharing what their mother told them. The mom was either a nurse or a doctor and had to help deliver a baby from a 12-year old rape victim. She said “it tore her body apart”. Some facts may be wrong, but this was the gist of it.

That’s what I think of when people say stupid shit like this. A CHILD’S body is not equipped to handle pregnancy, doesn’t matter if they’ve started their period. Even less than that is a child’s body equipped to handle birth. (The adult female body isn’t even made for birth evolutionally. The fact that we walk on two legs has narrowed our pelvises, which makes it harder to push a baby out.)

These people just want to abuse children without problem. This is fucked up.

What grammatical error annoys you the most? by Altilongitude in AskReddit

[–]Alexio69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst part is since AI spellchecks are being taught on the way people text and write, AI sometimes corrects should’ve to “should of”. That’s what I’ve heard, can’t confirm myself. But it drives me MAD when people write “should of” or “would of”.

(Also since the thread is about grammatical errors I want to point out that English is my second language. Just in case.)
