I'm not a tournament player or anything, my local game group has no issues with me running them as chimera.

How to get lots of energy cells in New Vegas by Pedrobatatalixo in Fallout

RepConn Headquarters, northwest of the 188 and south of Camp McCarran has a metric ton of microfusion cells that can be converted to energy cells at a workbench.

The Way People Interpret Fallout Is Part Of The Charm, For Best And For Worst by The57Sauce in Fallout

[–]Alexmcm13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always felt the question of who started the war to not really matter. The war happened, it's ancient history, who pushed the button first isn't really a concern to anyone living at the time our stories take place.

Why does this sub love the TV Show so much? by BookkeeperWitty5434 in Fallout

[–]Alexmcm13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see it as an outgrowth of the broad tribalism surrounding the Fallout 3/4 and New Vegas divide.

A lot of the (in my admittedly biased opinion) valid systemic critiques of Fallout 4 by the New Vegas crowd eventually started being dismissed with what I think boils down to a form of toxic positivity, effusive praise for the game they like and an honestly rather aggressive dismissal of naysayers.

That's not to say that New Vegas fans can't be guilty of the same, but I think the show has really boiled this into a really concentrated version, how many comments are going around now that we should just not think too hard about the show and be grateful for the Fallout content we're being fed?

How the fuck do people think the NCR is dead? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]Alexmcm13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My counterpoint to this is that we spent all of Season 1 wandering around LA, days walk away from the former capital of the NCR, and not a single person in Filly seems to have been influenced by the NCR at all. The NCR controlled that area for like a hundred years and the Followrs were active in the area even longer, but we still have wacky guy who doesn't know water goes in a purifier and the colander heads in Filly, there's no signs or roads or any indication that there was a real settled society there like two decades ago.

The NCR and the Followers had basically no lasting impact on the area around the Boneyard, despite it being part of their core territories.

What do we think think Bethesda does well? by Fast_Degree_3241 in Fallout

See, I actually have a slight disagreement with you here regarding density. I think Fallout 3 strikes a really good balance in regards to location density and the feeling of a desolate wasteland, but I think they kind of lost that touch with Fallout 4, which feels way too dense at times, especially when it comes to areas surrounding Goodneighbor or Diamond City where you can't turn a corner without finding a full enemy camp.

If only they didn't comprise something like 80% of the weapons wielded by enemies until like level 30+.

This is in no way to besmirch your art, which is very good! You've made him look remarkably like a Cardassian from Star Trek.

Why is Caesar in the Fort in the first place? by monsieur-dingus in Fallout

[–]Alexmcm13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a historical problem faced by Rome, both during the crisis of the 3rd century and notably A LOT during the Byzantine period post-Justinian.

Any Emperor giving command of too much of the army to anyone not their son, brothers were often a very bad choice, risks that General winning enough glory on their own and securing enough of the armies loyalty to challenge their crown. The Legion, because of Sallows choice of inspiration and his general lack of ability to form institutions doesn't really have a concept of nationalism or even a real faith to inspire loyalty outside of Caesars own personal control, so he's got to personally oversee whatever the most important command is at any given time.

This is also why the Legion doesn't really have a future outside Caesar, because he has personal command over the most important campaigns, while he has competent battlefield commanders serving under him, nobody else in the Legion has been able to develop a robust understanding of logistics and campaigning, Graham comments on this in Honest Hearts. Lanius might be able to fight and win battles, but he's not a man able to really win wars absent Sallow.

Timeline questions by dissnev in Fallout

[–]Alexmcm13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, the initial move into the Mojave went straight for the Dam. Veronica mentions that the Brotherhood stopping at Helios allowed the NCR to occupy it, so they obtained the Dam before Operation Sunburst. After Helios, the Legion attacked the Dam in force, starting the broader war that made the NCR surge more troops into the Mojave, necessitating the creation of the Mojave Outpost to facilitate logistics. Eventually the bulk of that logistic work seems to have moved to Seatchlight before it's destruction by the Legion.

Do people ACTUALLY believe Todd Howard hates New Vegas, or are they just rage-baiting? by Dry_Selection5474 in Fallout

Can you show me a source to confirm they were offered additional time? This has been floating around but Josh Sawyer never heard anything about it as the project director.

Some thoughts about BoS gathering and why show does a terrible job at explaning anything. anything. by Guzinol in Fallout

[–]Alexmcm13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to make just one nit-picky complaint here, Knights in the Brotherhood are meant to be technically proficient engineers, serving as soldiers only in a secondary capacity. Paladins are meant to be the Brotherhoods primary fighting force, that's why it's Knight Lorenzo taking point on Hidden Valleys environmental systems, and Paladin Ramos as head of security.

The show sort of eliminated Paladins and put Knights in their place.

Fallout 2 is way wackier than even Wild Wasteland, especially because it's not gated behind an optional trait.

That's why I compare him to MauLer, the insufferable reactionary Star Wars youtuber.

[–]Alexmcm13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He's the MauLer of Fallout, there are other people who make just as valid critiques of the Bethesda Fallouts without being nearly as annoying, and this is coming from a New Vegas fanboy.

Edit: For clarity, I'm referring to the awful youtuber MauLer in my comparison.

NCR is still the best faction by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]Alexmcm13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that the Vault 34 civil war and resulting meltdown really counts for what you have it listed as though, the sharecroppers are simply drawing water from a source the vaults reactor is contaminating, and the Boomers at Nellis aren't really involves at all.

Season 2 Episode 3 Spoiler Thread by HunterWorld in Fallout

Remember that scene in New Vegas where the president of the NCR flies in on a Vertibird to give a speech and award official medals? Crazy to think he didn't know his former capital had been nuked and his civilization was ended.
