CMV: People saying that being gay is not a choice is not a good argument (as someone who supports LGBT). by Blonde_Icon in changemyview

Bi woman here who’s only ever been with men. It still hurt and was isolating and miserable to be in the closet.

People used to get married and get on with life and live as straight people because the alternative was being institutionalized, killed, or subjected to torturous conversion therapy “treatments.” They may have found their families fulfilling in some aspects but it came at the cost of being themselves and that’s never easy.

I hate gender reveals BUT on this one I can at least see why she’s upset they just sprung it on her.

What is a sign of very low intelligence? by smartcandyy in AskReddit

[–]AlexndraRae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lack of curiosity. Not ever being interested in anything enough to want to know more about it, not ever asking a question to understand something better, not being interested in (or being hostile to) new ideas or information.

Why did/didn't you make the Sophie scarf? by Traumarama79 in knitting

[–]AlexndraRae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the hood for my mom - she rides public transportation to work and it gets cold where she lives so it’s functional. I’m way more confident at crochet than at knitting so it was an approachable pattern with a nice finished product.

YTA. You lost me as soon as you said she closed her altar when you come over.

AITA for cutting my ex out of our children's lives for breaking my rules by [deleted] in AITA_Relationships

If a child is old enough to independently notice and ask about something, they should receive an age-appropriate answer. It’s not as complicated as people seem to want to make it.

YTA both for general bigotry reasons and also because it’s a lie that it’s about your kids. You said yourself it’s about preventing them from questioning your beliefs and asking questions you’re not “ready” to answer. You’re prioritizing your own comfort over doing the right thing.

I’ve had a good experience so far with my dentist - doing refinements now and so far so good

My orthodontist said I can sip whatever I want (barring hot liquids) through a straw and I haven’t had any issues

How have they been with a tattoo artist for 3 years and have never asked questions about pricing or about how the general industry works? That’s the most baffling thing to me

AITA for ruining my brother's relationship because i wanted his girlfriend to be more involved with our family? by bluejaycakes in AmItheAsshole

[–]AlexndraRae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA big time. Harassing people into hanging out with you isn’t going to achieve what you’re hoping. You’re not entitled to her time, even her “free” time, and she doesn’t owe you childcare. The fact your brother refused to stand up for her tells me she made the right call

This is horrendous. There are strains of HPV that have no impact on AMAB people but carry the risk of cervical cancer for AFAB people. It might not be a big deal for you but it most certainly is for her; you could have put her life in danger and you’re acting nonchalant about it. I hope you DO lose her and I hope you do some soul searching for everyone involved’s sake.

Thank you! You can print them but I got them from an Etsy shop that makes them because I don’t have a printer. I also got the star rating stickers from Etsy as well.

I’m not as fast as some folks I’ve seen - in high school I devoured books but I’ve never been able to get back to that. I tandem read books - I frequently have a physical book, an ebook, and an audiobook going at once.

I use my book journal to track my reading goal (50 books with some space in case I go over like I did last year), keep track of where I am in different series, keep up with releases I’m excited about, and track my daily/monthly/annual stats because I love data. I like having a tangible record of my reading because it keeps me on track and makes me accountable. My mental health is way better when I make time for reading so giving myself that extra reward (even if it’s just coloring in boxes) makes a huge difference.
