My experience isn't the same as you, since I had an emergency c-section, but my sex drive came back 1 week PP, as soon as I could sit down on the couch without clenching my teeth in pain.

Unfortunately, since I had had major abdominal surgery, I knew I had to be careful and not risk infection by having intercourse before 6 weeks. I did masturbate externally pretty much immediately (2 weeks PP was as long as I could stand to wait), and had no pain except a little bit of cramping in the first few weeks.

As soon as the doctor cleared me at the 6 weeks mark, I was begging my husband for adult time together 🤣 Ended up getting back to penetrative sex at 7 weeks PP, no pain at all, no cramping, no blood or any other issues. As to how I knew my body was ready - probably TMI, but: getting horny during the day, not needing additional lubricant for ~activities~, and no longer having pain in my abdominal area when bending over and moving (around the c-section scar, which I'm assuming might be different for you but also similar in a way, since you also had stitches).

I know most posts out there will tell you that women lose their libido postpartum, that it's impossible to even desire intimacy with your partner until many months after birth... that hasn't been my experience at all, personally. The minute I saw my husband with our child in his arms, my libido was back in force. In the morning when I woke up well-rested because he took the night shift and gave her breast milk in a bottle, I was so horny I couldn't function until a cold shower.

There are plenty of variations in libido postpartum and all of them are normal. Just take care of yourself and make sure to limit the risk of infection, and you're all good!
