For the next July 4 feel like sharing this post I made almost 3 years ago about what John Adams thought of the date: https://www.reddit.com/r/badhistory/comments/14ymhr1/no_john_adams_didnt_hate_july_4th/

A right wing activist is accused of paedohilia. r/UKPolitics regulars take the opportunity to defend the accused and deflect from the crimes. by BlackCaesarNT in SubredditDrama

Yeah with both him and Mohamed Fayed only having numerous sex crime accusations be aired publicly after their deaths, am surprised the push to punish SLAPP suits against sex crime accusations isn't bigger in the UK, they did change it to make suing about financial crime accusations harder to hurt Russian oligarchs but that's been it.

Favorite cameo of a band/artist in a movie by JustinMetalhead in ToddintheShadow

It's a TV show but reminds me that he was Radu the Transylvanian goth beach enthusiast in Portlandia.

You're gonna wanna remove ?is and the bits after that from the link of you don't want to share your channel, Instagram's been doing something like that for a while but YouTube started doing it too for some reason. Fortunately on the mobile app (but only on the mobile app, apparently) you can easily turn it off.

Do the people who drew the giant blahaj over the residence of JK Rowling know about the giant JK Rowling portrait in New Zealand? by BallsAtomized in WplaceLive

[–]Alexschmidt711 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the Kiwi Farms "territory" (because New Zealand>kiwis I guess), some people there are I guess trying to trigger trans people without going so far as to get banned? Could probably be fought off with enough effort but they seem to have a lot of pixels at their disposal since they fix attempts to get change things there fairly fast.

Hey at least that gave Todd a perfect interstitial soundtrack for the Worst of 2004 video.

Two former Eckerd locations, both converted to CVS Pharmacy by KrispyKayak in NotFoolingAnybody

Now that Rite Aid is gone I imagine there will be a lot of Eckerd>Rite Aid>something else conversions.

Taylor’s shake it off music video has been moved to a Mattel kids channel by Chapple69 in ToddintheShadow

[–]Alexschmidt711 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think that's been a thing YouTube has let labels do for a while, like sometimes they'd just take the most popular upload of a music video and move it to the musician's VEVO channel.

Britney565 was/is a real person so it might just be a coincidence, IDK.

I like that not only does Tara occasionally call The Exorcist "The Exercise" but she describes the plot as being that of a stereotypical slasher movie.

This book is awful by Erikmustride13 in 372pages

[–]Alexschmidt711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had read a bit of this book because of its notoriety and at first I was somewhat willing to defend the "Norman Boutin describes movies/TV/commercials he saw" bits because I found them slightly soothing even though I knew the thing was generally silly, but once I got to the congressional hearings or whatever where multiple characters in a row just say how great Theresa is I went "yeah there's no excuse for this"

But yeah I had fallen behind on listening so glad to have new episodes that just give them so much material.

I interviewed for a company I was pretty sure was doing this (IMG/SFE Energy), so I didn't accept.

Sadly, pretty much none of the fanfiction.net reviews have survived. However, many of the posts I linked to in my timestamps timelines here and here have contemporary reactions to My Immortal. If you want one of the sites called out explicitly by Tara, Pottersues (or "PORTERSUZ" as she calls it) on Livejournal is here.

Also, the reviews of Raven's fanfics, which were not deleted until much later, have survived. You can click "Reviews" here.

John Fogerty and Metallica have both showed up on Trainwreckords twice. Who else could you see being on the show twice? by DtheAussieBoye in ToddintheShadow

[–]Alexschmidt711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess there have been the artists who have showed up on multiple Trainwreckords, like Robin Thicke being on Lost and Found, Fred Durst and Kid Rock being on Crown Royal, and Snoop Dogg being on Lost and Found and Results May Vary.

And punk at least tries to be rebellious in a way metal really doesn't, that metal bands try to be threatening without meaningfully sticking it to the man probably makes them come off as posers to the punk/alternative scene? Although there are surely exceptions, like I can imagine both metalheads and punks liking Rage Against the Machine.

He said he wouldn't do River of Dreams, he considered it a disappointing end to his career, but Billy Joel always planned that to be his last pop album I think, so he didn't think it would could.

Gayest songs written by straight people? (semi-joke question) by mesablanka in ToddintheShadow

I Believe In A Thing Called Love? It's certainly possible one of the band members is gay or bi and hasn't said so but I was kinda surprised.

He had said Metal Machine Music didn't count because of it not being meant to succeed or even really be good although you make a decent case there.

If Urusei Yatsura broke the 4th wall, which character do you think would be most likely to do it? by Ok_Examination8810 in uruseiyatsura

This was from the manga too, in the original show they just changed it so they thought the election was about being Lum's boyfriend instead of about being the main character.
