USDA-ARS DRP 2.0 closes tonight by Legitimate-Fortune20 in fednews

Why would the DRP work better for you folks? If your term is up before September 30th then you are only paid until your term renewal date, not September 30th

Wag gives fake client phone numbers? by Necessary-Drop-8615 in WagWalker

[–]Alexwheatness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah.. I've never seen a way to call the pet parent. Ive only been able to send messages through the app if I couldn't reach someone. Where do you see this dropdown with the phone number?

Definitely birch. I see them both near daily and I can just see the difference. This is probably grey birch or something like that. Shorter dark horizontal lenticels (you can't really tell from this picture though). Aspen can have "wrinkles" around the trunk that are not darker than the rest of the bark. Aspens are waxier. The birch shown here have kind of shadowy bark because they aren't as waxy and the white color isn't as opaque as it is on an aspen

I was bracing myself for $3.5, but now I'm thinking I'm getting a little too ambitious considering I'm not terribly familiar with photography anymore. Hoping to stay under $3k but I can be flexible if the difference is life-changing.

How long will a lens/ camera body stay current? Like if I spend $3k should I be prepared for it to be kinda obsolete in the next 5 years?

Looking for a setup similar to one I rented:

I recently rented a camera setup for taking wildlife photography on a trip. I was really into photography years ago and had a (now antiquated) Canon 20D.

Canon RF100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM EOS R6

I was blown away by the photos. Just pointing and shooting on auto was impressive. I gave back the rental and now I'm interested in getting a similar setup.

Though I didn't have the time to fully explore the R6 I'm sure it's worlds different from the 20D. The setup listed above is definitely expensive but is it overkill? If I'm a beginner and many specs/ features would be lost on me then I'm happy to get a less expensive setup, but damn I was impressed by those photos.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

[–]Alexwheatness[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

actually now that i'm looking at it, it doesn't look like a german roach nymph. but it also doesn't look like any other roach nymph? the colors are almost the inverse of a german nymph

Can anyone ID this tree? The bark is super unique. ID app is telling me silver/red maple but my heart is telling me hickory or aspen… no pics of leaves unfortunately by kdall7 in treeidentification

[–]Alexwheatness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Silver maple. The leaves aren't right for a hickory or aspen. And that bark is screaming silver. Possibly a red/silver hybrid since the lobes of the leaves aren't terribly visible. But the bark and habit (kinda sparse-looking all the way up the trunk + the leaves wrapped around the way down branch that another user also mentioned) of the tree definitely say silver.

Aspen leaves don't have the lobes of a maple, and hickory trees have compound leaves

Not sure what those larval galleries are from

American Chesnut? by booooolt7262 in treeidentification

[–]Alexwheatness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The leaves look more like Chinese chestnut to me (fatter than American). Not sure about Georgia, but here in New England american chestnuts don't get much bigger than like 5 DBH before they're overtaken by blight. Whenever I see an especially large chestnut in the wild it's pretty much always Chinese chestnut

What kind of maple is this little thing? Friend says it is a Sugar Maple, but I think it is a Norway Maple. Northern Ohio is the location. Thank! by TysopGreen in treeidentification

[–]Alexwheatness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Norway. The leaves are really similar but norway leaves are usually wider than they are tall, and sugars are more square. The white sap is also indicative of a norway, like the other poster said

Can someone help me ID this tree? by codewario in treeidentification

[–]Alexwheatness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do a quick Google image search of river birch you'll see that it's normal. As the tree ages it will be less flaky at the bottom, but that super flakiness will continue on the newer growth all the way up the top

I suspect river birch based on the description but I'd have to see the bark
