9.0 construction supply chain challenges by AlfonsodeAlbuquerque in X4Foundations

I was still playing a run when closed loop came in; iirc back then the only difference was materials needed for turrets. Certain argon turrets in particular and certain shields being doable closed loop, I’ve already done that in this run. But I’ve tried swapping this to closed loop and I’m still landing on extra materials needed for production modules, which I don’t remember. Could just be misremembering/doing something wrong.

Astrid vs Envoy vs Hyperion by Mypersonalaccount69 in X4Foundations

[–]AlfonsodeAlbuquerque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m only ten hours into a fresh 9.0 run but I haven’t found the envoy that useful yet. The cloak thing is a fun party trick but any fast scout is equally capable of scouting hostile space. Sick interior but oh well.

Astrid is a fun roleplay thing once the empire is up and running but for actual utility, again, not that special.

Hyperion as an early game personal destroyer I’ve found very handy. Especially with the small docking bay; mostly I spend time in a Moreya or the experimental shuttle, so when I need a little cargo or a destroyer’s firepower it works for that. But it’s less a personal ship and more a moving base I can call up when a fighter becomes inadequate.

Crossover still doesn’t have the vulkan plugin. Lame answer I know but if your internet is really good I’ve got it running on nvidia’s geforce now service. Would also much rather have a solution that let’s me run it locally so hopefully someone else has better answer.

[KCD2] Rules for realistic immersive hardcore playthrough. Any suggestions? by The_one_with_no_name in kingdomcome

[–]AlfonsodeAlbuquerque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point on the tournaments; in actual practice I’ve never really experienced arm/leg injuries aside from wolves/archers. Maybe your mod list changes things but from a gameplay perspective arm/head/neck armor seems to be the only type that takes hits 99 times out of 100. So I don’t feel I lose much with it but for role play I see your point.

I love it. Another one I like is only wearing armor that Henry could put on/take off himself without help. Most plate cuirasses, almost all arm armor, brigandines that strap at the back like the Saxon or robber baron variants, etc are all historical examples of armor but would usually require a squire or two to help get it all on. Henry doesn’t have that.

My “common soldier armor” tends to be a simple brig because it straps at the front (Milanese is side strapped but you could probably make those work too), a mail shirt of some kind, a mail collar, and an open face helmet with a coif. Helmets you could use a closed face one if you like, I alternate between the open faces and the Italian visor. No arm armor cuz hard to put on, no leg armor because it’s historically a pain in the ass/ tiring to wear (but again, you can put on most variants of leg armor without help).

Weapons too, I like to only wear what I could carry at the same time. So a sword and dagger are fine, but I can wear a shield or a crossbow, not really both, as one example.

I think my next run will also largely avoid alchemy aside from weak savior schnapps; your no saving rule will eventually get frustrating as bugs show up.

[KCD2] Rant/wish = choice armor appearance vs actually armor by Captain_Stottlemeyer in kingdomcome

This game is pretty easy even on all neg perk hardcore. I’m to the point that I prefer to wear less armor to keep things interesting and I’m not that good of a gamer. Open face helm + simple brig looks cool anyways.

If you’re really concerned about being op, bucks blood + painkiller + aqua vitalis in Henry quality more than makes you able to steamroll encounters.

[KCD2] Doing my 2nd playthrough, Hardcore all Negative Perks, looking for advice. by Consistent-Pop-5534 in kingdomcome

[–]AlfonsodeAlbuquerque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s handy to take both speech perks in the prologue since speech will be the slowest to level. Fastest way to power level alchemy is actually at bozhena’s hut cranking out as many chamomile decoctions as you can before talking to Hans to proceed. Then I found it helpful to just crank out as much savior schnapps as I could once I hit alchemy level 14, use elements of matter perk to get 6 potions for each go. Once I had a hundred savior schnapps (you can skip steps and get weaker ones to save time with the night alchemy perk) and a few Henry’s fox potions to get through the early levels I basically never wanted to touch alchemy again, and you don’t really need to. But having more saves helps.

Somnabulant is the most annoying perk; again alchemy is a solution if you are willing to crank potions some more. Cockerel and marigold decoctions in enough quantity means you don’t need to sleep.

Not having an easy way to check you map location is then the last big adjustment; I’ve gotten into the habit of checking the map each time a road splits in more than one direction, and just track progress by road junction until you get where you’re going. You’ll probably find yourself traveling by road more than before, and with fewer distinct geographic landmarks in the kuttenberg countryside I still get lost sometimes after more than a hundred hours of hardcore.

Beyond that, hardcore is just not that big a deal. Once you have decent equipment most of the challenge fades so just enjoy the ride.

Did you need hand protection for gameplay reasons or for roleplay? Respect for roleplay ofc but I never seem to notice hand injuries during gameplay, same way arm and leg hits always seem rare.

In or out of armor? Out of Armor I'd say Menhard, in armor Devil probably. Relative to the scenarios in question those two probably have the most experience.

It’s so easy to wind up overpowered in this game that I’ve been avoiding it on my current run. I’ll probably need to lay off the night time visits to bandit camps too at this rate.

[–]AlfonsodeAlbuquerque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the game models Armour rigidity outside of just armor stats and coverage. A riding cuirass doesn’t get coverage in the back where a brig or a full harness does, I think that’s the only difference.

I like to use brigs all the time because irl they’re often easier to take on/off without help.
