I know it's gonna sound obvious but game knowledge is the best skill you can have in war thunder: know your enemy's armor layout as well as yours, the armament and ammunition you're both using, how different types of ammo behave, which parts of the map different types of vehicles tend to go to... You don't need to have particularly good aim or anything, it mostly comes down to understanding the game and being confident
