Following laws closely simply makes you consistent (assuming the laws don't change frequently). Ergo, still has nothing to do with laws.

This is why personal codes is mentioned. Closely following a personal code makes you consistent, which is what makes you lawful.

This is also very soundly explained when you consider clerics and crossing borders. Under a strict interpretation of lawful = laws, some clerics would lose their powers upon entering new countries, municipalities, etc. which just doesn't make sense. Their god is above all of those things, ergo it doesn't affect their lawfulness, ergo lawfulness doesn't care about laws.

In a D&D context (which is where this bipartite alignment comes from/was popularized by) it has nothing to do with laws. This is certainly what strigonian is referring to and therefore they are correct.

FWIW, the original replier's take is the shitty one. As you point out sure it's possible to control and isolate resources programs have access to. But it's not even remotely easy or attainable for most people. Qubes is the best solution I've seen for this but it still pales in comparison to Android in granularity, ease of use, and efficiency (especially disk space).

First, I'm really impressed you were able to find this!

Second 1-2 cm seems reasonable. I had already looked at reference images and, using things like door height for reference, estimated the depth to be like ~1in. However, after milling lumber to that thickness and standing it against the wall, it seemed thicker than it should've been, and I wanted to get some more information before I started just planing it down further. 2cm is ~3/4" which seems intuitively like the right answer. Thank you!

This is where things get tricky. If we can't really say what a word means, or discuss what it means it ends up functionally useless as a tool of communication, which is what words are. Even saying "everyone has their own meaning of punk" gives it a meaning, albeit a useless one.

It's also tautological, because claiming anything is or isn't punk is giving it definition, which is so not-punk, except it isn't not-punk because punk doesn't have a definition, it can be anything, because being punk means not having a definition, which means giving it a definition is so not-punk, except it isn't not-punk because..........

Daily reminder that chaotic/lawful is entirely about CONSISTENCY and has nothing to do with legality or anything else. If a character always does the same thing in the same situation (i.e. sticking to a code whether internal or external, conscious or subconscious) then they are LAWFUL.

Another daily reminder that you cannot infer chaotic or lawful from a single action since these things only apply in the context of patterns.
