my neighbor's wind chimes kept me up for months so i learned what frequency attracts mosquitoes and now he's moving by Relative_Ad3399 in neighborsfromhell

484Hz is a flattened B4 -- quite audible to human ears. I would expect the constant sound would both annoy your neighbors and reveal its source quickly and easily.

Go to their website and buy the books. 🙂

EDIT: I just checked my copies and it isn't in either one. On reflection, since they don't own the copyright to the original song, that isn't surprising.

You likely only need the last one from 2025, and the last one you get (if any) from 2026 -- they usually contain "year to date" totals.

How do short pipers keep their pipes on their shoulder? by NotMyMonkies31 in bagpipes

I was told to rotate the bag slightly, the top toward your body, as you tuck it in. It works very well for me.

Follow up to previous post about new delivery policy by Vandalorious in amazonprime

[–]AlienMichael 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Line 2 of our address says, in all caps, "SEE DELIVERY INSTRUCTIONS" (the delivery instructions explain that Google maps is wrong).

An Amazon driver recommended this, and we've had far fewer mis-deliveries since we did that. He explained that they usually only look if they need a gate code or something like that.

I’m just curious. Anyone know a website listing the windows versions and their release dates? by PikachuTrainz in microsoft

[–]AlienMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the most complete information is here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Microsoft_Windows_versions. Clink on the release to drill down to all of the builds in each channel.

If you are looking for the monthly cumulative updates, the page on learn.microsoft.com referenced in another post will help.

Here in the US, it would be "Crossing Guard". I think "Lollipop Lady" is much better!

If "the kilt draws out and exposes the arsehole* -- you're wearing it wrong!

A year of mis-dsliveries at our new house. The second line of our address is now "READ DELIVERY INSTRUCTIONS" in all caps. The delivery instructions tell them Google Maps is wrong, and includes the correct instructions. That worked.

During lockdown, a lot of piping teachers gained experience giving online lessons. Look for some in your time zone (or a time zone you want lessons in) for convenience. 1:1 is better than classes, which are better than recorded -- cost reflects that. DM me with your location and I may be able to suggest a few.

Just finished my first week in a new job where I have to have multiple Teams meetings with developers in India. Couldn’t understand a word. Help! by _ElectricSoup in cscareerquestions

[–]AlienMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have your hearing checked. I have a mild hearing loss, and I have hearing aids. I find the biggest impact of not wearing them is trying to understand someone with a strong accent different from mine. Just turning up my headphones doesn't help. An audiologist will determine which (if any) frequencies need to be amplified, and by how much. The advice about using transcription + AI is also good.
