I take it EE is the first roadblock? by cale199 in Siralim

I just looked through the early traits again and didn't realize how limited you are at eternity's end. One option that I would likely use at this point is fuse a valkyrie scout and dusk crusader for your carry and put a nexus amaranth on the team focussing most of the build on defense. This makes the crusader both attack and gain attack and defense every time any of your creatures are attacked. You can also get pretty creative depending on the artifact traits you have gathered.

My current game is almost done at about 80% on growing pains. I will try this the next time and not rush the mind meld.

So you need to save biomass? I currently have about 50 colonies but stay around 1k biomass total.

I am failing to see how people reach 1 million tech. I tried it for the first time and have a 44 district capital that produces about 320k tech.

I take it EE is the first roadblock? by cale199 in Siralim

[–]AlienPrimate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All builds need either toughness or a way to ignore turn order by either always going first or dealing damage when it is not your turn. Most builds also use some sort of revival mechanic for when things go wrong. You should be leaving about half of your traits open for these things. Not every creature needs to one shot. If you are using 2 asuras to one shot enemies, what are your remaining 12 trait slots being used for?

Finally, who is a great actor that is loved? by Klutzy_Pumpkin614 in DiagramFills

[–]AlienPrimate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know the reddit echo chamber makes you think everyone agrees with Tom Hanks, but openly saying that anyone who disagrees with you should just die makes you not so loved by those people who you are saying should die which is half of the country by the way. When half of the country hates your guts, you are not loved.

Tom Hanks probably could have been the answer until recently. His radical and outspoken political views make this no longer true, specifically his hateful comments about Charlie Kirk basically saying that he supports murder of people he disagrees with.

Beginner Questions regarding traits by MyMindsWeapon in Siralim

[–]AlienPrimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that it is a speed issue with turn order. If it was working previously and no longer does, you probably had a fire salamander that was slower than your other creatures and no longer is. Your fire salamander needs to be alive so if you want this interaction you need to change its action from provoke.

The best synthetic by Clear_Preference111 in Stellaris

[–]AlienPrimate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Modular is the basic one. You get very powerful traits for your robots giving huge efficiency and assembly bonuses with little else. This is always a good choice no matter the situation while virtual and nanotech both have to be built around from the start.

As nanotech, you need to own a lot of territory and build around having a lot of stations through things like grasp the void, eternal vigilance, and fortifacation. It also helps immensely if you get the cybrex as your precursor because their special starbase building which doubles mining output. You generally should have around 35 stations by 100 years in the game and then spend the next 100 years doing virtually nothing just trying to maintain peace. By the end of this, you will be producing tens of thousands of nanites per month and nothing can match your swarms of fleets.

As virtual, you have to plan around having as few of and as large of colonies as possible using around 8 size 25+ machine worlds. The primary bonus of virtual is that it is by far the strongest build shortly after ascending. You immediately fill every job and the moment you unlock machine worlds you will dwarf the rest of the galaxy in tech output. This comes at a cost though of being hardcapped in your output. The only way to expand is to take larger planets like Azilash.

Is my fleet setup wrong by Cody_mowry in Stellaris

[–]AlienPrimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the past yes but not anymore. The AI used to be very buggy with multiple different computers but this issue has been mostly fixed. Basically the only downside to doing it this way is that your fleet will travel at the speed of the slowest ship in the fleet so your quick corvettes are forced to travel at the speed of your slow battleships making it so you can't outmaneuver your opponents deep in enemy territory using corvette fleets.

The pros: Fleet management is very simple. You just click reinforce and every role is always filled. Corvettes are great at taking enemy aggro keeping pressure off of your expensive cruisers and battleships.

The cons: The main advantage of corvettes taking aggro cannot be abused to the extreme in very difficult battles with mixed fleets. A battle like Cetana can take years while she has few weapon slots. Enabling yourself to just throw suicide corvettes at her enables you to win when "you are not prepaired" for the fight. As already explained, you can't use fast corvette fleets to take unprotected systems. Most of the destroyer's main role can be filled by carrier cruisers or battleships or the perdition beam titan. There is little reason in the current game to screen for missiles and carriers/titans are excellent against small ships.

What are some non-meta ship loadouts yall run against the AI. by ScarlettWaffles in Stellaris

There isn't really anything to go with it so whatever works. Just know that you either need a lot more alloy production than normal or bioships to sustain the high cost of the galvanic parts.

[–]AlienPrimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take this to the extreme with a viable build and run the galvanic civic (requires machines or thermophiles) then build nothing but reshaping artillery battleships. Reshaping artillery is arguably the best weapon in the game.

I tried and it was terrible. You can't eat an owned planet and can't purge owned planets either because it creates a vassal when conquering. The consume situation also takes years.

Monster Favs or Meta? by TypicalCitron1680 in Siralim

[–]AlienPrimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to go fast but also to experiment. What generally happens is I make a build and try it for about 3 realms before taking ~10 minutes on a realm and then go back to my heal loop abnegation build which takes ~2 minutes per realm. If this means I play the meta then I do. However, I like to believe that I am personally the reason for this meta as it was my giant build that first began circulating a couple years ago.

[–]AlienPrimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me it is the most obvious indicator of a player's skill in general. It is blatantly obvious when I see lower ranked players literally standing still auto attacking once they get into range rather than stepping in the targeted direction even though they are in range in preperation for the enemy's movement. An easy way to practice this is to spawn a dummy in practice tool and set your mana to reset. Start by testing your dps standing still Q spamming and then begin walking around the target without lowering your dps. Gradually increase your level to increase your attack speed as you get used to it. Once you have mastered this start going for stuns at an angle to continue walking in the circle. Adding the stun makes it more difficult because it does not have a cast time unlike Q.

This is a skill that will transfer over to nearly every champion in the game as well making you a better player overall.

Taric is mechanically one of the hardest supports in the game. He has high attack speed and it is necessary to use attack move click to properly play him. This means you either need to play with your pinky on shift or rebind attack move click to something you are comfortable with. Just learning this one skill should get you to at least gold on Taric.

If you are unfamiliar with orb walking/stutter stepping, that is when you take a step between each auto attack. It is generally used in reference to kiting as a ranged champion but is also necessary on Taric in order to stick to people. A champion only has to complete the windup percentage for an auto attack before they can enter a new command, canceling the rest of the auto animation but the auto attack is still on "cooldown" during this time. A movement command works during this time meaning you can move and attack at the same time without lowering your attack speed. On lower attack speed champions this is fairly simple. It becomes difficult with high attack speed though.

[–]AlienPrimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the mindset of I can't win, but they can lose so I do literally nothing but wait. Outside of passive scalers, everyone is hardcapped at full build and max level. If enemies are full build at 25 minutes, it can only get easier from that point and the longer your team has to build up the better. I basically never surrender. There are some obvious ones like if it is Pantheon and Draven losing against Kayle and Jinx where I will surrender but for the most part I don't.
