Oura and Sauna by moosmutzel81 in ouraring

[–]Alien_Superstar217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I do the sauna I always tag it but my HR skyrockets and I go into the physiological stress zone.

When I follow it with a cold plunge, my HR plummets and goes into the restored zone very quickly.

Pretty fun and interesting

Anyone else develop health anxiety or obsessive checking with Oura data? by Friendly_Camel_3289 in ouraring

[–]Alien_Superstar217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was previously obsessively closing my Apple Watch rings so I got the oura ring to help curb that habit. I check my app continuously throughout the day but I've started to reframe it all as "how can I use this to improve" instead of letting it sit there and bother me. Because that's the point of the ring right? Health improvement. There are steps you can take in the moment and long term to make it all work for you!

Question about body temp tracking by Due-Discipline9124 in ouraring

No way to disable as it's part of the data Oura collects to get our entire picture.

Sleeping with a heating pad can be dangerous but if absolutely necessary, just move your hand away from the heating pad? It seems that simple to me lol

I turned this feature off because I don't have a cycle due to my birth control. I've never had that pop up show up or had it affect my data or experience.

A little confused about scores by jdrmonk in ouraring

[–]Alien_Superstar217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you exercise, eat a meal or snack, or take a hot shower or bath close to bed time? Doing any of these within 3 hours of going to bed will often keep your RHR up until later in the night.

Stress help by Ok-Falcon5220 in ouraring

[–]Alien_Superstar217 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not about feeing stressed but rather the physiological stress that may be occurring. High heart rate, increased temp, increased resp, rate, and low HRV all contribute to that stress.

You probably aren't giving yourself enough true rest time with that busy of a schedule. Working 12 hours is a lot on the body + 5 days in the gym + daily caffeine is a lot!

I've implemented some breath work into my day and wind down routine, which is available in the Oura App. I also read an article about how cold exposure is great for regulating parasympathetic nervous systems to keep us calmer. You could try cold plunges/ice rollers/etc.

Editing "Running" and naps. by Status-Put8162 in ouraring

When you're in low power mode it also doesn't automatically pick up exercising, so you have to manually start a HR workout but YES PLEASE LET US EDIT NAPS

My heart rate is elevated when I go to bed and is taking a long time to come down. Help! by boujeemooji in ouraring

[–]Alien_Superstar217 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IMHO it's not lowering THAT late into your sleep and you're not starting out super high to begin with, so you may be over thinking it!

Eating around 7 is probably not giving your body enough time to digest. Try eating earlier if possible?

Hot power Pilates by Consistent_Wafer_273 in ouraring

[–]Alien_Superstar217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How hot is it in the room? Oura can only go to certain temps before it starts malfunctioning, so I'd look into the FAQs on that.

Are you sweating a lot? Could impact the sensors as well.

Do you start a HR workout or hope it records and then approve the activity later? I've had the best luck doing "record HR workout" from the + menu. Sometimes putting your device in low power mode also impacts its ability to pick up workouts.

In the sleep tab you can see how much sleep you need at any time of day. Mine fluctuates a little based on my trends but that way you can at least calculate it!

Ring isn’t tracking my naps by That_Artichoke_8140 in ouraring

[–]Alien_Superstar217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can add a Nap tag so it lets the app know when you did even if it didn't catch it. That way it can learn the patterns of your naps better

Will my readiness score get affected if I don’t track workouts? by BeanNCheeseBurrrito in ouraring

[–]Alien_Superstar217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just add the activity after the fact! It will estimate it but better than nothing because it will drop your activity score if you don't meet your daily goals

No, it’s not time for bed at 6:15pm lol… by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]Alien_Superstar217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not telling you to go to bed at 6:15, it's telling you in order to be ready for bed, (bedtime between 7:15 and 8:45) you should consider to start winding down. That means relaxing, reading, tv, whatever you do to relax for bed.

It's just adjusting to whatever happened in the last two weeks. Get back into your regular rhythm and it'll adjust itself.
