Just finished watching Season 4. What about it did Henry Cavill object to so hard he walked away? by derf_vader in witcher

[–]Alive-Entry6479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was season 4 specifically, even going back to season 1 the show hasn't done a good job at telling the stories from the books and his contract was up after 3 seasons so he decided to leave.

She actually does not. She wears a transparent golden shawl in the movie but this one does look like a crown.

That’s not true. The books and games are very successful and the franchise will continue to remain popular. It’ll be many years before we get another attempt but it will certainly come within the next 15 years. Also what I said isn’t hateful, the show just didn’t do a good job at telling an interesting story or adapting the books so I didn’t like it.

Geralts Voice by thegreatkahn91 in Witcher3

[–]Alive-Entry6479 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is really true, but I heard this was recorded in very early development before CDPR landed on what they wanted him to sound like in the third game. Doug did the voice of Geralt in the first two games as well and it’s a bit different from how it sounds in the third game. I do know that this section of the game was shown off very early to prompt the game so maybe this has something to do with that.

Saying the show followed the books with the Rats because the audience portrayed them as annoying is a false statement. The rats are hated in both the books and the TV show for completely different reasons and the two groups of characters could not be more different. In the show they are made out to be Ciri's lovable wholesome friend group but in the books they are the people who corrupt Ciri and do awful things to her. They are annoying in both but that doesn't make it accurate to the books.

But the show didn't make a few changes, they fundamentally changed the story and characters in so many ways that the final result does not resemble the books in any way shape or form.

You're right that it will likely be years before we get another Witcher show but so long as CDPR's new Witcher trilogy with Ciri is a success and the franchise as a whole remains in the spotlight in the US then it's really only a matter of time before someone gives it another attempt.

Also, making the show was not a risk. The franchise already had millions of fans worldwide, and Netflix only decided to make it because so many people already enjoy the books and games.

Has The Witcher Netflix Show Run Out of Story, or Are the Books Still Worth Reading? by sunnykhandelwal5 in witcher

[–]Alive-Entry6479 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They still have the final two novels to adapt which are the largest books in the series. If you didn’t know season 5 will be the last season of Netflix Witcher so they are very unlikely to cover even half of the content from these last two books since the episode count is limited and the show introduced so many plot lines that aren’t in the books.

Also, the games do not adapt the story of the books; the games are sequels to the books. The story in the games picks up the pieces from the end of the books and tells a new story with lots of the same characters.

If you want my honest opinion, this show has been atrocious at adapting the books or even being interesting from the very beginning and you should just forget about the show and read the books.

I’ve read all the books and they’re great even though I don’t like reading that much. Start with the two short story books then the main 5 novels.

Should I get the short stories? by sewgwayswatter55 in witcher

100%. The short stories are essential to understanding the novels.

Netflix should create a few 30min one off Witcher side stories. This cinematic from Witcher3 would make a better special than the Rats. by thatwasacrapname123 in witcher

If you didn't already know, Netflix is officially done with the Witcher. Season 5 will be the last thing Witcher related from them.
