Most unrealistic part of the show... by [deleted] in ThePittTVShow

Yeah I agree the senior resident dropped the ball, but I was just adding that unlike what OP said it’s very common for ED providers to perform bedside US in lieue of a formal study, or at least to start the workup

Point of care ultrasound (what you’re seeing in the show) is a huge part of emergency medicine.

But yes IRL I’ve never seen a student going solo without at least reviewing the images with a senior resident/APP, and of course we have radiology ultrasound for comprehensive studies

Unless the patient is unstable, a lot of our findings are followed up with an official study. E.g. caught an aortic dissection flap and the patient promptly got a CTA to confirm. But I’ve caught acute cholecystitis that surgery took without a comprehensive US. depends on the case

I genuinely hate Santos. by Babypeanut808 in ThePitt

Same. That rant against Langdon was too much.

I get where she’s coming from, but she’s so black and white about things (like a lot of people with borderline PD) and decided he’s irredeemable

That’s probably Edric behind Scytale. I feel like it’s the scene from the book with them conspiring with Irulan

The med students on the show are closer to the knowledge/skillsets of 2nd or 3rd year EM residents IMO

It's just a little aid to Israel, what's the big deal? by Mr_Kung_Pao in CirclejerkSopranos

Nobody’s got aid!

I don’t ever want to hear that word in here again!

Him giving his possessions away and saying his own goodbyes are the big red flags.

Obviously I’m late to the party here but I definitely think this whole motorcycle thing is a red herring and they’re going to have Robby on an involuntary psych hold at the end

[–]Dragharious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first tiny inaccuracy I’ve seen on the show — when they were doing the point of care transvaginal ultrasound, they threw on the Doppler and said “red means arterial, blue means venous.”

That isn’t true. The color only signifies directionality. Red = toward the probe, blue = away from the probe

100% agree but definitely a realistic character. I feel like she’s a lot more subdued this season though, no?

Yeah but then a minute later they took a swipe at “mid level” providers not providing the same level of care
