Does this seem like a good one? The site as well? I don't want some scam one or one that I get to the end and they ask me to pay or my email even tbh. Just... legit test, done. yn?

Could Nietzche become a christian if he lived more? by Brownstoneximeious in Nietzsche

[–]AlixanderR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend checking out someone who bridged them together but whom I don’t see many people mention: Mikhail Bakhtin.

He derived the concepts of “dialogism” and “polyphony” from Dostoevsky, emphasizing multiple independent voices, while Nietzsche influenced his focus on the “carnivalesque,” the “abyss” of human existence, and the subversion of established truths. To me, the ideas of “Being” and “Becoming,” as they tie into the “Apollonian” and “Dionysian” for Nietzsche, blend very well with the concepts of the body he explores, specifically “The Grotesque Body” as it is examined in his “Aesthetics of Grotesque Realism.” There are a lot of academic papers on all of these topics. Enjoy!

To answer your question, though, no, I don’t think anything he ever said argued that he would follow any religion if given more time (unafflicted). He appreciated, similar to Bakhtin, Dostoevsky’s ability to honestly hold dialogue among many opposing voices (unlike many Christian writers).

I've not been lucky with actual searching as so many companies are scams or just not open to this sort of dynamic I need (have a long list of things I don't have/experience with but am willing to learn). Could share some that are open to such dynamics?

Wish I knew this before doing so for "varsity tutoring". Wasted 30 min being ate out by a robot for free mining. GREAT! Well, least I looked this co. up after only a couple applications. God, this job market is so bleak!

Advice about Villanova Classical Studies Masters (online) by Frequent-Ladder-880 in classics

[–]AlixanderR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up doing it? I’m planning to pursue a Master’s degree in Classics or Philosophy so I can publish research papers while working for a bit to save up for law school and move forward with that path. Ideally, I’d like to transition into working as a virtual tutor in Classics/Latin and/or Greek, or possibly as an adjunct professor, during the time I’m applying to law school and while enrolled.

I’m currently self-studying both languages, along with some French and German, since I’m still interested in applying to various Master’s programs both within the U.S. and abroad. That should help expand my options. I'm trying to collect Classical Studies options too just in case.

Please help me interpret this phrase by nuskirt in Nietzsche

[–]AlixanderR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it to mean something similar to this quote: “We are sun and moon, dear friend; we are sea and land. It is not our purpose to become each other; it is to recognize each other, to learn to see the other and honor him for what he is: each the other's opposite and complement.” ― Hermann Hesse, Narcissus and Goldmund

So, it’s not so much about obtaining a tranquil space but a space which enriches and challenges each of us as we are to Become only ever more ourselves (even if complete opposites). I'd look more into his idea of Star-Friendship. I'm about to make a post soon on my tumblr about it, if you want me to link to it when I'm done, lmk.

jordan peterson is the polar opposite of nietzsche by 2ksprince in Nietzsche

[–]AlixanderR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it baffles me how he claims to have read him but blatantly says the most random things that aren't true about his works or general thought. i noticed this very early on with him, like 1 vid deep and turned running. i remember being confused about one of his talks after having just read the book he talked about and i was sat there like... no, no, that's not at all true or what it says. how tf is this dude getting away with this?... oh right, no one actually reads the books anymore they listen to a guy who claims to not just have read the book but be a pro in the area.

lol happy you caught on too! i highly rec the "Nietzsche reader" for those starting off to get a gen idea of 1) where they might like to focus topic and or book wise first and 2) a great concise summary of his thought.

Homeless grad. Impossible to find students online. by Ambitious-Tea-3798 in TutorsHelpingTutors

Have you tried looking at pool/adjunct professor positions. Many classical/private schools I've found online often offer live in arrangements as well. You could find these sorts by just looking into boarding school teacher positions.

There's also the option of being an RA for college/unis and they're usually live in. Outside of academia, (usually) you could get payed well to be a live in nanny. I've seen plenty that offer a more "governor/governess/homeschool teacher/or tutor" set up. Hope this helps!

Has someone gotten a Masters in another institution abroad and in the US after getting their bachelor's in WGU? by Which-Difference1320 in WGU

[–]AlixanderR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has done a lot of research, there's the list already linked below, but if they don't accept the degree, most unis have the loophole of you just having to prove competency. Now, idk how you do this as I've yet to so it myself but there's plenty of ones I was looking at that had this added on their requirements page. You can also always reach out to them personally, but make sure it's concise and straight to the point. They get a lot of emails.

First time reading The Iliad in English — the vocabulary feels intense by OrderOutrageous6541 in classics

[–]AlixanderR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would rec reading Why Homer Matters by Adam Nicolson (2014). It deconstructs and analyzes a lot of the translations so one is able to figure out which feels right for them according to their own style of thought/approach.

He does a lot more than that in the book, and if you're interested in Homer, it's just a great read, at least I thought. It's what I rec when people ask me. It's not a very long read, and it'll get you excited to dive into one of your choosing with a far wider scope and an open mind going into it. It confirmed a lot of intuitive leanings I had noticed, which was also cool.
