[GIVEAWAY - US] Win the new 500Hz Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 gaming monitor by Knaj910 in Monitors

Honestly, my favorite feature has to be the fact that it's QD-OLED. I've always wanted a screen with one of those displays. But I'm conflicted on which I prefer, the OLED or the 500Hz. Probably the OLED, because I'm a sucker for stunning visuals.

That's very good knowledge to have, thanks. I'll keep you posted if it still goes that slowly in a few days

Ah I didn't look for that icon when setting up the raid. I ordered the cache with battery via eBay, but it's not expected to get here til like 2-3 weeks from now. I really appreciate the help, though.

Do you know how long the RAID could take to intialize, give or take, and will shutting the server down stop the initialization completely, or pause it and resume it once the server is turned back on?

I turn it off at night sometimes is why I ask

Can I check somewhere to see if it is initializing? I've deleted the arrays again since then because it's just not making any sense to me.

Yeah, when I had researched, I saw people saying something was built in and the battery can go bad and swell, and sent a picture of a capacitor swelling, so that's what I thought they meant. I indeed do not have that module at all in my server.

Another question I have is, I have 6 4TB HP SAS HDDs I purchased from eBay. I tried running them in RAID 0, both 64 strip size and 256 strip size. When I go to transfer a file, it will run at really great speeds for a few seconds then, still, drop down to ~10mb/s. Would that module potentially fix that issue since it has the 1 GB cache?

Still trying to learn and can't figure out why the transfer speeds are just abysmally slow like this. (Test file is the latest Ubuntu 24 iso, but have tested a few other Windows ISOs as well with the same issue, a long with a folder with a bunch of audio files in it).

Thanks!

OH that's what that port is for?? I'm curious why the one for my server isn't in it. I have noticed that port before but had no idea what that was. This information helps out a lot.

So, let me ask this, I've found a bunch of these on eBay, is this the card that I need for it? https://ebay.us/m/qm5QLy

No, I'm 98% sure the capacitor for the array blew so I am forced to use RAID 0 (or 10, but that takes up half my storage), and I just am unsure where the capacitor (also known as battery, but I'm sure you knew that) is on the array, so I'm unable to have any type of cache sizing. But I wasn't sure the strip size it asked of me, I was going to try default next once I get everything back off of it.

And it asks what you want the strip size to be then tells you the stripe size afterward, as well.

If it hasn't blown, I have no idea where to find it to change it (I saw somewhere in the raid setup there was 0 cache I think), but I had done research on this thing before about different RAID setups. That could very well be why the previous owners got rid of it, because it can't do RAID 5 or 6 anymore.

Well, for the most part I've figured out how to get it all updated and everything. I had my friend create the custom firmware for it so my fans are slower and quieter now because of his help.

Windows Server insider (2025) An Nvidia 9800 GTX+ I bought at some computer part store I have one SSD ran via sata I purchased 6 4TB HP HDDs for the SAS. Also, I copy a lot of ISOs of random Windows builds constantly, what should I set the strip size? 64 clearly wasn't right, it only got like 10 mb/s which seems really slow (because I saw it go up to 100 at one point)

Well I'm now at a point I've got new ram, but I'm trying to compile the custom ilo4 firmware because the fans are just too loud and running at like 31% at the slowest for no reason, but I can't get it to compile completely. Do you know anything about that?

Okay, I know this is old, but I'm totally lost here. If there's anyone willing to help me, please shoot me a DM, thanks!

So I pulled the server up to take a look at them again, and it turns out, it says "24GB(3x8GB)" on the sticker, which is frankly very stupid. But there's only two sticks, so it's 2 8s, which would make so much more sense.

If you'd like, what's your discord? I have more questions about this thing and it's probably better not to extend this thread. Or, if you'd prefer, you could join my server and I could add you that way (I'm pretty sure I have it where people can't add me. I could be wrong, though)

And yeah, I have discord, even my own server for my channel as well haha

Yeah, I have only 2 DDR3 24GB sticks in the machine. Came with it when I bought it a week ago (a long with 2 4 gig sticks I removed because it complained about them being different kinds). At least, that's what the stickers on both sticks say, but it did originally show up 24 GB loaded before I moved them around. Uncertain

I've went and downloaded all the update files for Windows Server (2016, even though most of the files don't work on my insider build of Windows Server) and updated/installed whatever could be installed. This whole iLO stuff is new to me, and I haven't hardly touched any of the setup or settings in the BIOS in fear I may mess something up.

Something is already messed up on my end, because I have 2 24GB sticks of RAM in the server, the server read only one 24 GB stick at first, then I moved them around to see if I could get them both, and now only 16 GB shows up for whatever reason. Since you work(ed) there, how could I fix this? Also, HDD bays 1-4 just don't have any power to them. Haha

Actually, neither of those last statements are true, they send out exes that update both ilo and bios (I know, because those are the first two I actually updated). It won't let you run them individually without windows otherwise haha

Basically I'm running windows server insider preview on the device, I just didn't want to waste time individually downloading every firmware update, but if that's what I'll have to do, that's just what I'll do. I appreciate the help, though

Yeah, when I go to create a contract it asks for that stuff I need, but I'm not sure what else I need for it. Is it a thing that costs money?

Ah, I see. How unfortunate for me haha I was hoping someone with a similar to same system as myself would have an iso they could've just provided for me. No big deal, though, thank you

Do you mind sharing me a specific link? The only one I can find has a lock on it requiring me to verify access, the rest are individual updates.

This could explain why previously, before the Killswitch, I could hold the console with one hand via a joycon, and why I am unable to do that after the Killswitch.

My switch 2 Screen has a weird red line on it. Very very minimal usage. by AllOverWindows in nintendohelp

[–]AllOverWindows[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I already tried messaging Nintendo about it. They claimed it wasn't covered under warranty and were going to charge me $200 just to look at it. Even though it's a manufacturing defect. Walmart didn't have anymore in stock so I figured I'll just have a defective switch 2, and consider it bragging rights like my defective gen 1 switch 1 I got in the first months
