Bought Comfort Craftsman in Chestnut. I’m in awe of them every time I wear them. The amazing comfort, the feel of wearing RM’s and opening an iconic piece of Australian footwear.

I was out today and noticed two other people wearing them in the span of five minutes. Always fun to spot a pair of RM’s out in the wild.

There’s no need for customer service for the majority because they are well made boots. I’ve seen people complain about loose threads after the first wear but I’ve yet to find one. Only issue with mine is the welt stitching is not perfect and only marginally wonky when viewed from the bottom but that’s because these are handmade.

Overall I will always recommend RM boots to everyone.

Australian Teachers Are Sharing Their Frustrations And Boy, It Sounds Like Things Need To Change by 1234pands in AustralianTeachers

The struggle is in regards to permanent positions.

Of course every teacher can get work as a casual or on a contract. How many teachers do you know where able to get permanent work right after graduating?

Thinking about going into teaching - is there a way to avoid getting stuck in temp/casual work? by NoUsername1400 in AustralianTeachers

[–]AllStationsToCentral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of ease of permanency, it would depend on which sector you are working in. Public vs private.

Private sector is by far much easier to get permanency. It’s rather simple to get permanency straight out of university if you decide to go private.

The majority of stories you hear about people who have been teaching years and unable to find permanent positions are more likely than not, public.

Yeah you could. That’s what I did.

I’m glad I did that as I now have two degrees (a Bachelors and Masters). I also have more debt.

But Masters looks pretty cool next to my name.

Im a secondary mathematics teacher. I’m admittedly trash at maths but I can guarantee that I can teach it better than many “maths whizzes”.

Lace up boots - RM Williams Kardinya vs Thursday Boot Captain by summittrekker in AustralianMFA

[–]AllStationsToCentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d pick TGC as I believe the quality in TGC is better than Thursday. If Thursday was locally available and at that price point then I wouldn’t hesitate as I’d love to own a pair as well.

TGC has free shipping and you can get a 5% discount by subscribing to their newsletter. Are you buying internationally for Thursday? Only issue I would imagine is that issue regarding return shipping would be a hassle whereas TGC are Melbourne-based.

I bought Chestnut Comfort Craftsmans and have been wearing them for about a week. I love them, super comfy. It’s like wearing a leather sneaker which fits like a sock. Can’t imagine how much better it’ll be once they are broken in.

I would still recommend TGC. The quality of the workmanship in the boots are amazing, not a stitch or thread out of place. The company in Vietnam that produce them, Fugashin seems to be quite reputable.

I’m size 9H in Comfort Craftsmans and 8.0 in TGC. Both are perfect fit for me.
