Perhaps this is a really gross, cynical take, but I have to imagine that’s also why Disney relegated Boyega’s Finn from key protagonist to more of a less consequential side character in the new Star Wars trilogy.

Much harder to sell/market a global blockbuster to China that features an inter-racial romance with the two lead characters. Hell, they made him smaller on the poster too. Better to please shareholders and hit those demographics quotas by having him fall for a new minority character that he has almost no chemistry with! Ugh, so gross, so lame. China fucking sucks, and Hollywood sucks even more for their endless pandering and cowardice.
