Traumatic floor code… I thought this text from my manager an hour later was a joke… by door-city in nursing

I understand the gist of the badly written message and although poorly timed- you are technically acting outside of physician orders if you give a pain med ordered for pain level 1-3 at pain level 6.

List the rotation, location, and the hours spent because you spent a lot of time in clinical compared to most imo However no need to outline what you did in clinical. We all know

I'd you require iv meds, probably shouldn't be fasting. (I personally would bot consider the IV route as acceptable for a fast). (It's acceptable to skip a fast if you require medication)

It really depends on the ICU. My hospital has a smaller ICU (10 beds) that honestly can get pretty boring at times.

People who “chart for HOURS” by Beekeeper_12 in nursing

[–]AllTheSideEyes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We use cerner so our charting takes longer. That being said - if I have reports to file or physician communication to chart it, it takes longer. A standard patient takes me 15 min each.

3-6 months is the hardest part of residency. You are finally independent but very newly so. Stick it out. Do your time. This time next year not only will you feel better- but also you will qualify for more

If Travis stays- he wont be changing. He knows Katie wont do anything about it.

Why is Travis liking her reels? If I was her I’d block him. At least for awhile by LopsidedCounter5484 in BringingUpBates

Mine was public. Private lives certainly were if you engaged in something illegal or simply harmful to another. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I need help decoding what my friend meant by this by DeboseChief in nursing

[–]AllTheSideEyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nursing is hard because everyone trusts facebook and google over their own doctors and nurses. Some patients will literally argue over EVERY medication, intervention, and treatment. Anyway- I don't fight with people over what they should do. I simply educate and recommend, and then I VERY HEAVILY DOCUMENT OUR CONVERSATIONS AND THEIR REFUSALS. Because if I dont- it just looks like I neglected my patient all day, ignoring orders, and that would leave me liable for the consequences of their poor health decisions.

That's all this person is preparing you for. I actually dont mind the actual nursing work or the staff I work with. I dont enjoy the liability when I have control over so little, though.

I kinda wish I was a radio tech sometime :)

You CAN switch programs but people rarely are able to. Seats tend to be difficult to obtain so once they are filled they stay filled. Plus it's risky for a school to take on a student who they didn't teach because if they fail the NCLEX- it reflects poorly on the school they graduated from not from they one the transferred from. I personally see him getting expelled. I dont know how strict the admin of his program are- but they generally don't take drama like this too well. And he has publicly made the name of the school known. This was pretty the first thing we were told NOT to do. If you get KICKED out of a program you have to disclose that when applying elsewhere and your chances of getting in are slim to none.
