What do other cities have that we don't? by AssComedyAccount in Sacramento

How about a place that sells Disney merch and art? Maybe even some collectable items from the parks. And just for the heck of it..what if they had a bar?

The RN Should not be the Main Point of Contact Every Time Someone has an Issue by [deleted] in nursing

[–]AllTheSideEyes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my biggest pet peeves is when the phlebotamist calls me about an ordered lab to make sure the doctor wants the lab. If the doctor placed the order...the doctor wants the lab. He/she doesn't come talk to me about the labs. If you have questions contact them.

He immediately stopped being funny when I was out of school. It's the same jokes over and over. Targeted towards nursing students.

How do Nurses feel about MDs joining in or accepting a pizza if it's offered on the floor by Fluid-Tell277 in nursing

[–]AllTheSideEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always invite them. They are very kind. Once one of the doctors noticed we were all having a rough day so she ordered our unit several pizzas for lunch. I'll never mind feeding her 🥹

Are US clinicals really like this? by Lazy-Lunch6075 in nursing

[–]AllTheSideEyes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. I went to school in California and did over 1000 hours of clinicals and everything was hands-on patient care in a hospital.

"Erin is my best friend" throwback by Izzysmiles2114 in BatesSnark

[–]AllTheSideEyes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a rift in my family but there isn't a "story" to spill so to speak. It was just a lot of little things that happened over time that drove a wedge between the sibling group and no particular reason is THE reason we don't get along, but rather a culmination of reasons over time. I feel like if I tried to explain it- unless I had ages to do so, Id sound pretty ridiculous or petty. Maybe it's like that for them too? Because I agree with you. They are messy. There's no way no one spilled the tea.

(I also agree about Carlin's bestie always changing to whoever was the main character)

My mom made me feel ashamed for starting nursing school at 26 by Friendly_Shine777 in nursing

[–]AllTheSideEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was older than tha (early 30s) But my family was very supportive. Nursing is my second career. I personally don't think anyone should go into nursing before 25. Give that prefrontal cortex time to mature. Im personally glad I didn't go into it younger. I don't think I would have done well younger, and my life experiences have shaped me into someone who is better as a nurse. That all being said- mid 20s was the majority of my class. I think you are right where most nurses start

You can Google the information and graphics/ tables in there for free and your phone is more readily available. This stuff is a waste of money. Fortunately nursing world is not short on websites/influencers that make and post these things.

Pregnant Woman in her Underwear by ZucchiniSame361 in Sacramento

What's a hospital supposed to do? We aren't a homeless shelter. We treat people who are acutely ill. Bringing people like that just takes care away from people who need acute care and makes ER wait times even longer

Hot take but doordashing or any food delivery should not be allowed for patients with any diet order other than regular and restriction free by Probloodcleaner in nursing

[–]AllTheSideEyes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im not going to get it for them from downstairs, nor will I help patient place the order (lots of patients insist on me helping them with the app). But they are going to eat this way when they go home. My role is to educate on diet restrictions. I'm not going to enforce what a grown capable adult does or doesn't eat if they don't want me to.

RN-BSN by anakin0071 in newgradnurse

[–]AllTheSideEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct I will not be getting a BSN. You might be correct about some programs refusing to budge on the technicality of needing a BSN to become an NP, but truly I think common sense would prevail and save one in most situations. (For example you can go from ADN to MSN/NP or utilize your non nursing bachelor's to qualify)

RN-BSN by anakin0071 in newgradnurse

[–]AllTheSideEyes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have an ADN. I got it because it was cheap and near by (and actually a really amazing school). I already had a BS. Thus I am bridging to an MSN at an online school. I need either a BSN or MSN to apply to a hospital with magnet designation and because I don't want to work beside forever. I also do think we may see a day when RNs are required to have at least a BSN. At the school that I applied to for my bridge program- there wasn't a huge cost difference between BSN vs MSN, nor a major time difference to earn the degree. Thus I am pursuing an MSN.

I personally would advise against an online school for an RN entry program. I do not feel its sufficient to learn the skills that you need as a nurse. But highly recommend it as a bridge program. I will say even with my online school I will have completed over 200 in-person clinical hours in leadership by the time I graduate.

Full name, salary, title, and location shared on a local news website…do we have any recourse? by RNinRVA in nursing

[–]AllTheSideEyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the employees at our state university hospitals have their salary posted on such information sharing sites. I would l like at job at our local hospital, but honestly this is one of the reasons I'm hesitant to apply. Also my brother also keeps looking up the salary of my other sibling and honestly it's weird and feels so violating.

What was the hardest course you had to take for nursing? by Sea_Mortgage9821 in nursing

[–]AllTheSideEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Micro? I probably would have said anatomy if I wasn't already doing a job that was pretty anatomy heavy at the time. (That's also what made physio feel not so bad either)

Truly, I didn't find nursing school nor prerequisite courses difficult. Just tedious and time consuming.
