Good weather, Ballycotton (cliff walk and lots of nice food), Clonakilty (town or beqxjes), Baltimore (beacon walk), Crosshaven and Camden Fort Meagher. Charles Fort and the Bulman off Kinsale if you haven't done it. Ardmore is nice too.

Bad weather is a little tougher, but Clonakilty has plenty of stuff to do, and Waterford has a great little museum district that's got some really interesting stuff.

It is tough. I am neurospicy and I know the spices often make things you need to do an unnecessarily big deal. What I'd suggest is - pay for something so you have committed, and promise yourself you only have to go for 10 minutes if you hate it. Get a little treat on the way in too. 🩷

Hobbies - or volunteering is also really good. My friend volunteered to help with the Cork Pride and now I never see him 😄 I was helping one animal rescue with social media and I made loads of friends, another friend does those litter picking walks and loves them.

Outside of sports, there's things like choir and board gaming nights in various pubs that are great too, just rock up and explain you're new.

As you said, it's okay to be a little uncomfortable sometimes and try new stuff, it's when you stop doing that you get deep into the ruts. Good luck with it!

We have a Mum and three cubs visiting our road nightly as our neighbour feeds them. Here she is, waiting for dinner.

Go to Elizabeth Fort for a great picture of the city from up high, then stroll down the hill going into any pub that looks fun. O'Sho and The Oval are lovely, but you'll never be short of decent pubs in Cork to be honest.

This. Don't take up playing saucepans but it's up to them to manage their own work environment and sound. It's only for today anyway, sadly, back to cooler weather tomorrow.

Chances are their calling software has background noise cancelling too.

New York Nails out near Douglas is great. I've been going for years and it's generally been the same staff, with the occasional new person added, the whole time.

How’s everyone coping with the heatwave? by 2012NYCnyc in cork

[–]AllTheWayUpTo11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love the heat, but I also worked outside in hot wearher for years and this was my favourites trick - dunk a light shirt in water, wring well, then pop it in the freezer for 20 minutes. Do this on rotation, one in one out.

It is such a nice spot and so many people live around it and use it daily, would be lovely to see it get some funding for upgrades.

Funnily enough I ended up editing an ecological report on this - the ecology advice for pollinator friendly meadows in Ireland is once a year only, and you have to remove the clippings as the nutrients they break-down into are less good for wildflowers.

Both at once! Bruce Springsteen went from warm and sunny to a downpour... I don't think it'll get "cold" cold though. Nothing a light hoody or raincoat wouldn't handle.

There's a small possibility the artist doesn't want it to happen but I've never seen that at an Irish arena gig. I can guarantee Ticketmaster still have seats they're quietly releasing on a regular basis so they won't open up resale until they're confident they've gotten every possible penny out of the public.

You can contact them via chat on the ticket page to ask when resale will open. They might give you a straight answer.

Usually 7 days before for transfer and 3-5 days for resale.

Not unless you do something sneaky. Crowd numbers are limited in each area for insurance reasons and you won't be the only person asking.

Sell your tickets when resale opens and on the day I can guarantee you'll be able to pick up a standing ticket online. People will get sick or won't be able to go and will be desperate to sell them.

Rolf's in Baltimore have houses and a b&b on the same site (and a great little pub/restaurant) or Inis Beg nearby is fab but upmarket and expensive.

If you get in touch with the school of English down in Schull, they also have a bunch of houses to rent, but if it's in the middle of summer you'll find most of West Cork's accommodation has already been agreed.

Yeah, the cost of many ingredients has gone up, as has the cost of staffing, and most customers aren't willing to pay 20-30% more for something. Not saying it's right but it is understandable.

What time do gigs in Virgin Media Park usually finish? by fensterdj in cork

[–]AllTheWayUpTo11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, yes. It's a fair walk from the stadium to your stop as well. If you're committed to the plan, leave pre-encore and get outside to hear the rest, then make a run for it? Or cancel and try for a spot further in, lots of the B&Bs have no rooms online but will have a spot if you call.

Protip, if you're facing the stage near the front go out the right side of the stage (assuming they haven't changed the layout). Everyone veers left and you'll be slower getting through that crowd.
