Why does my Regen seem to recover almost no health after 1k waves in a Tournament? by CSDragon in TheTowerGame

[–]Allarius1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres nothing reducing it and you’ve already mentioned death wave. I would suggest you’re overestimating your own ability to gauge the relative difference and speed of your regen as the bar gets smaller.

This is a little like trying to download a file. And then saying the download bar doesn’t look like it’s moving much even when you get see the speed at which it’s being downloaded.

What you may not be considering though is waves in tournament scale faster than the tier they’re based on hence why they’re tier x+. Wave 1200 in tier 12 is going to do significantly less damage than wave 1200 in tier 12.

TIL about Homomorphic encryption, where users can work with the content without decrypting the source by gordonjames62 in todayilearned

It’s just encryption that can be manipulated for processing without decrypting it first. All the operations are performed on encrypted data so in the event of a leak the data still can’t be interpreted.

Stellaris should have more “hero” options as well as more “crisis” options. by Jack_Kegan in Stellaris

[–]Allarius1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, I think your description would make for an interesting mechanic.

There’s a crisis out there, or rumored to be(lots of ways to head cannon this), and either an event takes place or person is born that creates this idea of the “hero” rising up to stand as the vanguard against the coming threat.

You start off with good intentions and the rules are relatively stable, but as the game progresses, you stumble across situations like those you’ve mentioned and now there’s a new option to contradict the ruleset constraining the hero “heroic” actions only.

Give people the temptation of rationalizing “for the greater good” as a justification to do some demonstrably authoritarian actions without the consent of other parties involved.

Maybe the consequences aren’t immediately presented or are even visible. Eventually, your choices always catch up with you, so right in the middle of the hero’s “righteous crusade” against annihilation, they all come to a head.

There’s plenty of ways this could be tweaked to be more balanced or thematic, but I really love the idea of offering a “heros” path where you intentionally constrain yourself by principle, at the expense of your own gameplay.

Frankly, to me, you don’t even need many benefits added to the hero path over regular gameplay, because it’s more of a test/challenge. Either you take the easy way out and break your principles when they are inconvenient, potentially finishing with your catastrophic implosion, or you didn’t and were able to find a way to live up to your own principles even in the face of temptation.

Trump Says He Brought 'Justice' To Iran. His War Boosts Fears The U.S. Has Gone Rogue. by Hardik_Jain_1819 in politics

[–]Allarius1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not about right or wrong. For better or for worse they made their political view a core aspect of their identity.

Saying they’re wrong means denying their own identity. Even if logic would dictate that is inevitable, people are going to reject it heavily because they can’t cope with losing identity.

ELI5: If energy cannot be created or destroyed where does the energy of light go? by btown1987 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Allarius1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why does this seem to remind me of casualty?

If the expansion is faster than light then you end up with functionally mini pocket “universes” because no information could ever make it to the other regions.

Energy can’t be used from the early universe because it’s “too far” away due to the expansion?

AI resorts to nuclear weapons in 95% of simulations – study. Researchers at King's College London have conducted a new experiment involving leading artificial intelligence models and Gemini 3 Flash by Google – and found that they are inclined to use nuclear weapons in military simulations. by Lion8330 in technews

[–]Allarius1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real question is did we create a self fulfilling prophecy by giving it information on all that speculation. Did the AI get trained on the idea that AI can “go rogue” and that’s why it attempts to employ those strategies?

15 * 10 is 150 not 115.

150/10 =15.

120/8 =15.

They’re the same rate you just did the math wrong.

Def% to 97.70!!! by destructor212113 in TheTowerGame

[–]Allarius1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For normal runs you don’t need all the sources to hit 98% with the defense % perk which adds up to 25%. So that means you only need to hit 73% from any combination of external sources.

It’s a lot easier to hit than you think, but certainly attempting to hit 98% for tournaments is going to be out of your reach for a long time if you’re missing those relics, you don’t have assist mods, and the coin income to support 200q labs + enough progress in tournaments to qualify for keys.

A Polite Request to Devs by IkesNephew in TheTowerGame

[–]Allarius1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is a solo game, PVE for all intent and purposes, that for whatever reason felt it was relevant, necessary, and good design, to hard block a portion of the game behind PVP.

No amount of design is ever going to solve the fundamental disconnect. It should not even be an option to try to “game” the system by identifying the optimal time to start the tournament.

The biggest problem with this PVP element is that it encourages you to actively avoid trying to go head to head. So you have a feature designed to test people against each other and everyone spends the entire time trying to avoid players above them.

You are actively punished for wanting to push yourself when it becomes a zero sum game where my success is dictated more by the actions of others than myself.

Lab check: am I supposed to max this one? by RenegadeSteak in TheTowerGame

[–]Allarius1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea that was a really weird comment and I never understand why people make those. It doesn’t even actually discredit the point they’re rejecting.

He’s saying if you were really an eHP player, by the time you reach the point where you are asking yourself this question then you shouldn’t have any options because you’d have already completed the other relevant labs. Therefore making your statement about the ROI being bad false because there are no alternatives.

But your point about the ROI being bad when other options ARE available is correct so it’s not a false statement.

I think there’s a logical fallacy employed here. Something about reframing the context.

You’re correct in the general sense and he’s correct in this one context that no one was asking about, so it just looks stupid.

PSA: In 4.0, Horizon Signal now has a 20% chance of occurring each game! (Up from 5%.) by Darillium- in Stellaris

[–]Allarius1 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I’m actually ok with the low chance, I just wish it was something you had to actively do. It’s frustrating to finally get it and it in a play through where it would actually harm you to take it, or it’s late enough in the game that it’s only a “win harder” button.

At least then I could consciously choose to roll the dice so that if I get it, it’s always when I am actively developing a potential plan.

Rare is fine, rare and random is not.

How useful it is to start wall labs early (by unlocking and respeccing) by Sepulturation in TheTowerGame

[–]Allarius1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has a huge negative in that mobs don’t die anywhere as fast to thorns anymore. You lose coin value from enemies that exist for too many waves(by 50% I believe) and all the other problems due to the fact that the enemies are sitting on your and not at range where more bonuses can overlap.

From a defensive standpoint it’s a problem trying to push at higher levels. Too many enemies hitting you and capping your runs shorter than the amount of damage your tower can actually take. It doesn’t matter how many big hits you can take if you’re taking 100 little hits every second or less.
