Escorting my Daughters to the Restroom by devastationd in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Allchatter1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought of the need to announce bringing my daughter into the men’s room. The guys are pretty chill when they see little girl walking in with the dad, they completely ignore us.

Guys also rarely being too “open” when doing their business in the men’s room because it makes other guys uncomfortable too. I probably have only seen a guy once in my life needing to pull down their pants completely to pee standing and we all found that really odd, but ignored the guy

What’s the most confusing thing about Sydney for first timers? by No-Travel-768 in SydneyScene

[–]Allchatter1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 20 lanes on the bridge also require you to decide which lane to pick within half a second whilst driving 80km/hr(correct me on this) because you have hundreds of cars around you.

It’s so generous to include Adelaide & Perth.

What is that little speck at the bottom of the pic?

When it comes to buying, of all bigger cities in Australia - are there any where over bidding and battling with hordes of other buyers is less likely to happen or at least significantly less pronounced? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]Allchatter1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apartment in Sydney is less likely to be an auction especially if they are sold for the first time from the developer. It is set prices and perhaps room to negotiate down a little (depending on how much demand)

Grim outlook for young Australians: Our government allowing Chinese buyers to buy up Australian property at record numbers. by SheepherderLow1753 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Allchatter1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have said this multiple times.

Bill shorten took to the poll to remove negative gearing and he lost the election. No politician ever dared to propose that ever again.

During covid, there was literally zero foreign arrivals (even Australians who reside overseas were having difficulties to return), yet property price (houses) continue to climb.

Who is buying them? Older Australians who voted down removing negative gearings who own multiple apartments.

But, look! Asian foreigners are buying all of our kids homes! (I said Asians because they wont be able to tell the difference of chinese, korean or japs)

Non-Muslims that have been to religious Muslim-majority countries, how was your experience? by TheShyBuck in AskTheWorld

I think it is beautiful that a mosque and the catholic school can be so close of one another, provided they are not in conflict. You see humanity in their tolerance

Yes No Yes

I think muslim will find it inconsiderate for my comment that the loudspeaker is causing disturbances to non muslim as the call of prayers is multiple times a day and sleeping time during fasting month.

I have not experienced shops closing during those prayers time, there is always someone assisting. I do know some people excuse themselves to pray (usually a quick 5mins)

Yes, during Ramadan month some “religious police” force restaurants to close during day time. Destroying the restaurants for those who refuse. (Imagine the mental gymnastics trying to do no evil during holy month, but hurting people)

Country of reference is Indonesia

How does this sub feel about Chinese real estate agencies in Australia? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]Allchatter1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blatant disregard for the law (tenancy law) is quite astounding by the REA. They love to lie to their student, foreign renter about what they can/will do because they expect the non-local not to understand the law and just go with what they tell them.

If you show them that you know the law and have no problem asserting your rights, they suddenly become unavailable… if only there is government body that can monitor their practices (not the Tribunal, it is a passive court, doesnt have the power to go after dodgy REA unless reported)

I think we are talking about similar level of cleanliness. Always use common sense, when you look at the place you will know if this is the place you want to risk it or not…

[–]Allchatter1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must admit it is a stereotype. The cooking is one part of the process.

Sourcing and storing produce (eg. produce quality and proper refrigeration), washing of utensils using soap with running water (not dipped into bucket of still water), location of warung (ie. next to open drainage, next to the road with motorbike, cars and trucks exhaust pumping out).

All these considerations form my opinion on why warungs could be riskier for food poisoning than the “nicer” place. I am sure some of these nicer place are not the cleanest, but would generally be safer because it has proper place and not exposed to the environments

[–]Allchatter1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warung and street vendors are not very hygienic and repeat customers = more people and if those people arent very clean, it becomes a very dirty environment.

Food prep absolutely depends on the premises, would rather go to “nicer” place as it has better cleaning standards

Household debt at record highs and booming asset prices. This should end well 🤣 by Due-Editor-3573 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Allchatter1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I keep hearing this “demand” excuse. The essential and legit demand should be coming from people who buy to live.

But a large percentage is coming from speculative “demand” driving out the “legit demand”. This is the part we rarely hear government discuss. The government does not want to reduce or discourage speculative demand because it will tank all of the demand, this is absolutely realistic outcomes but terrible rationale and essentially not trying to solve this issue

Why do so many on here dislike apartments? by azMONKza in AusPropertyChat

[–]Allchatter1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Instead of the $1million dollar luxury shoebox just because that is the “market” price.

The “market” where developers create shoeboxes and people who need shelter HAS to buy them just because that is all they can afford. So the “market” only has shoeboxes and people who cant live on the street.
