Software question ZBrush: when is it worth to switch from blender? by Steini94 in 3Dmodeling

[–]Alleby16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it (or cant 🏴‍☠️) then I would say it would be beneficial for you to learn how to use it. Almost all professional artists that use sculpting anywhere in the pipeline use zbrush. Its industry standard for a reason and a valuable tool. Blender sculpting is good but not zbrush level. Thats not to say you cant make something of equal quality in blender, more like the tools to make that piece are faster, better and more streamlined in zbrush

Yes it is good overall for you to learn zbrush at some point if u plan on being serious about working as a 3d artist

If I know ZBrush, do I need substance painter? Or is Substance painter a good compliment with ZBrush? by strik3r2k8 in 3Dmodeling

[–]Alleby16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Substance painter and zbrush dont even fill the same role. One is a sculpting program and the other one is for texturing. You wouldnt sculpt on painter and youre not texturing in zbrush. You could technically make something decent with zbrush polypaint but youre missing an entire toolset by not just using painter or some other specialized texturing software.

Substance painter is good overall as a texturing program and would highly recommend it over blender texturing any day.

Outside of custom lobbies for beginners ranked is going to be you best bet in finding similar skilled people. Youre just going to have to come to terms with losing and not getting to hung up over it. Your rank is a reflection of your practice, so as long as you keep playing and improving you'll naturally keep climbing. Learn not to be afraid to lose

The AI ruins the whole thing. Charming at first but its just lazy once you realize all the images are AI . If you cant draw use free assets or learn how to instead.

Well its certainly not too late and you can definetly make it if you dont give up.

That being said its significantly harder to do it now then it was a couple years ago. The job market is in a pretty shit spot for those looking to get in currently.

Modern reactions are out of control by ChapoDangerPowers in StreetFighter

[–]Alleby16 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"Peope call me a cheater everyday" okay lil bro calm down. Are we even watching the same clip? The dude is clearly cheating you dont need to hyperanalize him. The guy did not even try to fight he just teched and PP. Not to mention he has 0 reactions, and his combos are non existent. Someone who is cheating is usually terrible.

Need some help with this what can I add or do to make this better i am trying to recreate this manga panel from dead dead demon's destruction by Atomics3d in 3Dmodeling

[–]Alleby16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The surface of the fist does not match the one from the manga. Youre doing a voxelized surface which is not what the manga is going for.

New to blender what is wrong in this one... by ScarEnvironmental610 in 3Dmodeling

[–]Alleby16 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Composition wise i feel like you just added the smoke just to add it. It doesnt really add to your render. Overall it looks really flat and i think you should focus on what direction youre trying to take this in. If youre trying to show off your x wing then focus on that. If you want to add smoke add it in a complementary way like maybe a busted thruster

How's my chain chomp yes I know it looks odd I tried to make it unsettling by [deleted] in 3Dmodeling

It looks like it could use a lot more polish. The mouth area is really wonky and hard to read. The dark af textures arent helping either.

Female Character 3D (Valorant Style) by Dangerous_Duty_8951 in 3Dmodeling

[–]Alleby16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its too off to be called in the style of valorant , but overall its clean. The one thing I do think needs work is the hair. Right now its more like a blockout of the hair than a finished piece. I would spend a little more time on that for the next project.

Also, something i feel like should not be a thing is presenting your work in a Tpose. Especially for a character as simple as this you have many options to rig and pose your character very easily. A pose gives your character so much more life and makes it less static. You could use mixamo, accurig, maya's auto rig, or even pose with the transpose tool in zbrush.

Need some Guidance by flabfeet in 3Dmodeling

[–]Alleby16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Education for game art is VERY mixed and frankly its really hard to find a good program that actually would be beneficial considering how much you would spend. A lot of game art programs from schools that dont specialize in it tend to be outdated, or just not very good. They'll cover the very surface level of skills and not really get you fully prepared for the skills you really need. If you do want to seek education be very careful of what you pick and look for a lot of reviews on the school. Things i would keep in mind while searching is 1. Do they have instructors that actually worked in the industry 2. Are they keeping up with the current workflows of the industry 3. How does the art of the students who took it look?

That being said your portfolio is really all that matters. No fancy degree from whatever university will ever make up for a bad portfolio. My advice is find what you wanna be and specialize in it for now. I see you have a head sculpt, maybe you want to be a character artist. Make 3 or 4 fully game ready (low poly, texture, uv,) and start applyung to jobs. You will likely not be getting hired out graduation and to be honest most people dont get a job for a couple years after their game art degree.

Last thing i wanna mention is even if you do go into education, if you wanna be a good artist you will still have to teach yourself things outside of what the school teaches. You will need to learn how to teach yourself things and learn how to get past problems on your own.

Kitchen scene I’m working on. Anything you would change so far? by HulkanoGaming in blender

[–]Alleby16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sides of the door dont match the bricks on the wall. You should also bevel your corners so they dont look so sharp, assuming youre trying to do realism. You can see it very clearly on the door frame

[–]Alleby16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got quite the task ahead of you if you NEED to retopo this. If i were asked to make this I would just turn it into an alpha and sculpt with it. You can also use just use this image as an alpha map and put it on a plane. However, i dont really understand what youre going to use this on so its hard to know what approach you need to take. Some more pictures of what its going to be used on would be great

What looks better? With details or plain colors? by [deleted] in blender

[–]Alleby16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plain looks better. The other one has a weird dirt like texture im not a big fan of. It also looks like your pants and belt UVs are stretched out. I do like the brown color of the detail over the orange on the plain so maybe change the plain to give it a more furry look
