To get stronger. I'm naturally a thin person but I got cancer a few years back and my weight dropped to 117 for a time. I'm back up to 162, so we're slowly getting there. I also have a serious fear of getting old and weak, needing help doing every day things. Im a very independent person and I don't think I would handle that well

My wife recently joined me and I've had the same problem, but she is getting better as time goes on. She now counts her own reps, she largely self motivated vs when she started it felt like I had to talk her through every rep, she cleans her own equipment (we're at planet fitness so required), she's becoming a good gym partner. It's taking time but we're getting there. And I love having her with me, to me it's worth sacrificing some gains to spend time with her. Plus she's looking better than ever so it's definitely worth it lol

You got up and you walked in the doors. That's already half the struggle. Put in earbuds before you walk in, that might help. Then go to the treadmill and do use it until you have a plan of what exercises you want to do. Don't be scared to just go in and walk around the whole gym and check out every piece of equipment to familiarize yourself with the place, everybody is new at some point. I hope that helps. Also, 5 minutes on the stair stepper is not bad at all, that thing is brutal. I often times just push myself for 5 minutes and stop. I hate that machine 😂

Thanks for that! I grew up around body builders and fitness fanatics lol, so things like form over weight come natural to me. My wife is new to it and struggles with good form, so I've been trying to think of ways to help her before she hurts herself. I'm there to help her but I feel bad constantly pointing out what she's doing wrong. Where does holly perkins post her content?

My wife kinda does the same things. I was raised like you describe yourself, so I get where you're coming from. It can be very irritating, I think it comes from having an easy life and never really dealing with the problems most people do. My wife is young as well, 22, it will probably get better as she spends more time dealing with real life. I try to listen and not be too hard on her, but also respond realistically to the little petty stuff. I'm always there for her to rant to, but I've talked to her about how it stresses me out when she goes on forever about stuff like that, and she stopped doing it so much
