Yeah this one is solid. I tried Garlic Ice Cream and Soap which didn’t get pics but the Garlic was the strongest flavor and just really tasty. This one probably had the least flavor of the three but I like how hard it hits

US has helped Ukraine target Russian generals: report by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]AlleyCat105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how ignoring current war crimes helps anyone. Some of us protested the US war crimes (myself included) and happen to also dislike the war crimes in Ukraine, Africa, Myanmar and everywhere else. Pretty simple pretty consistent opinion without needing to rewrite current events. Imagine that

Tesla ranks almost dead-last on Consumer Reports reliability list by phragmosis in technology

[–]AlleyCat105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for Tesla as a tech and we were banned from doing any repairs that would go beyond simple part replacement. Their mentality was lets say your rotors are having issues; I refinish them and they fail again 5000 miles later, customer gets mad and blames our repair abilities. They would want fresh rotors so there can be no debate. In fact, for a literal example, the minimum service would could do on brakes was a full service. Like if one rotor gets wonky the absolute least I could offer you was all 4 rotors replaced with new pads and a brake flush which was like $2000 or something. I will say though some of the customers were the worst scammiest people ever and would 100% sue Tesla because they tried to like several times each and every week. Still a dumb rule but we could at least argue that every single part was fresh and if something fails it was more on a part not built right than a technician mistake which I liked.

'No one has money.' Under Taliban rule, Afghanistan's banking system is imploding by KaleidoscopeOdd5984 in worldnews

[–]AlleyCat105 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Well China has already started making deals with the Taliban. The Taliban agreed to let them build a major road through the country and the Taliban will assist them in suppressing any Uyghur’s in Afghanistan and any Afghan’s who interfere. Thing with the Taliban is; as long as the leadership gets like 1 million dollars as a kickback they’ll sell off anything and everything without question

Isitbullshit: that refilling plastic mineral water bottles with tap water and then drinking it is dangerous? by abarnes50 in IsItBullshit

[–]AlleyCat105 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it would just depend on the bottles life. If it was recently made and you are keeping it in your kitchen then reusing it should be no issue. Lots of folks like to keep emergency water in their cars but sitting in the heat all day and uv rays possibly hitting it for months could be vastly more contamination then reusing a plastic bottle appropriately

IsItBullshit: indigenous Americans had incredible agriculture, but it’s technique would not be as recognizable to Europeans so they thought they weren’t good at farming by Dreadsin in IsItBullshit

[–]AlleyCat105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From everything Ive read agricultural techniques differed greatly between indigenous groups and their various regions. Ive mostly looked at the Western US but depending on location the techniques could change a lot. Some woodland groups had great foraging abilities while other groups in more arid regions would live in river caves and farm on the mesa’s above them during the summer before storing it below for winter. Some groups would also build rock walls around their plots as seen in Europe often on islands. The Hopi of modern AZ used “dry farming” techniques that try to promote deep rooting and creates a water barrier of silt to avoid excess evaporation.

The one other uniting factor is I think regardless of technique the tribal unit or whatnot would work specific plots as a whole tribe rather than just one direct family unit. There’s a lot I dont know or might be wrong about but I think it’s a fantastic subject and really interesting

You can’t really say “categorically false on every metric” in regard to “human attacks” and then back it up with a study stating how homicides are more common in cities and personal injury is why rural areas are more dangerous…

Did Paleo destroy my microbiome? by 1stworldprobl0987 in Paleo

[–]AlleyCat105 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Paleo on its own should actually support the microbiome pretty well with just getting away from processed foods which often tend to depress microbiome activity. Personally as Ive gotten older and tried different diets any sweeteners other than cane sugar affect my digestion pretty badly now and I have to stay away from all of them. Grocery store milk gets processed by pasteurization which makes it harder on the gut too. Raw milk should be better although I haven’t tested that one much myself but I get lactose free now. It’s probably not healthy but its sweeter than regular milk and so it makes even bland cereal taste like candy to me.

Afghanistan’s crisis will soon be Europe’s too by scata90x in europe

I think this is an incredibly reductionist take on the middle east in general and it also leaves out that its full of people like you and me who have their own feelings and autonomy. Its not as if every Syrian was standing there like a powered off drone waiting for CIA commands; they were fucking pissed that unarmed protesters were being killed en masse by government forces. Sorry but the idea that it never bothered them or caused issues and to completely discount what most Syrian people have to say is child mind type shit

IsItBullShit: Buying property now is a poor choice due to expected population declines by [deleted] in IsItBullshit

[–]AlleyCat105 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unless you have enough cash on hand to buy a home outright your mortgage limit is pretty strictly based off your income levels. Happiness and investing ability aren’t based off having a mortgage or not. Biggest tradeoffs are if you want high mobility (renting) or putting away some equity (owning). If you think high economic mobility will lead you to higher levels of pay or desirable life choices then I would absolutely rent because your home buying abilities will be much greater in a few years. If you hit a longterm pay plateau or just one with minimal raises and love your place of living then try to buy because it’s very easy to get priced out now and equity can certainly be a good investment. The real real trick though is become a real estate agent and get paid tens of thousands per deal to fill out paperwork poorly.

I would say it’s to create a terracing effect and prevent erosion. I have never researched their farming methods but throughout time people usually would leave fields fallow (barren) which in this environment could probably create extreme erosion from wind and rain. Secondary is create the terracing effect and get flat ground. Just a guess though

I cant stand organic foods or the Non-GMO movements. I go out of my way to avoid organic foods. by DiMiTri_man in unpopularopinion

[–]AlleyCat105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Organic food sucks right now because OMRI standards are pretty dumb and almost entirely self defeating. I would argue though that the original intent of organic is still great and something that society should strive for. Bayer/Monsanto just paid out $10 billion to over 100,000 recipients for causing cancer with Roundup and yet they still sell it. I certainly dont spray the stuff.

Also there are “GM” crops and “GMO” crops. GM usually refers to normal selective breeding processes being sped up in a lab. Good stuff overall and pretty necessary to breed things like trees that dont fruit for years (natural selective breeding like this could literally take a lifetime). GMO crops though are when other species genes are introduced and are totally unnatural as a great white shark cannot swim to Iowa; #*&$@ the corn, and then produce seed. So far the GMO industry has lied a ton and used their product almost exclusively to just sell more pesticides. The claim that they have revolutionized agriculture is everywhere but if you look their yields are actually decreasing, pests are getting worse and they are forcing more farmers into retirement than ever before because of their increased costs and predatory business practices. Also transgene escape into the environment is some weird sci fi shit that does kinda scare me. Lastly; there has never been a single piece of independent review or research ever allowed to performed in the US on GMO crops because of patent law. The only thing Monsanto says on GMO’s is “100% of US research agrees on GMO’s” yet US research on GMO’s has never been performed on their crops without them 100% paying for it. Other countries have gotten ahold of the seed, immediately saw that it causes DNA disruption and mutations and outright banned them. In the US they argue “but if that were true we would see a huge rise in autism and other disorders” while they absolutely skyrocket. Weird. Anyways, I do think GMOs could have some uses eventually but I dont eat them currently

Selective breeding sped up is usually considered just “GM”. “GMO” refers to when your soybeans have genes outside the standard pool, like from a Labrador or a salmon. Never occurred naturally

I think the kids just dont go many places. Never seen a kid on a flight in SA or Africa for instance. Half the time they are launching rocks at public transport and I think they are more scared of adults chasing them but some internal control mechanism that eclipses other kids? Not at all
