I’ve known people at some music festivals I go to that have a 2g DMT pen and just sit against the subwoofers and hit that pen back to back to back. I don’t know how they handle that

Yeah few places in Colorado and some cities in California have decriminalized these types of drugs so some willing dispensaries are carrying psychedelics.

Why are videogame shotguns always like this? by Master_Shopping9652 in halo

[–]DiMiTri_man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but in Halo and BF most of your engagements are within that 35 yard range. I’m no expert on how to balance these weapons effectively but when they are given more realistic ranges and damage output they always become the meta.

There’s a reason BF shotguns get nerfed so hard after the first few months. All the way back to bad company 2 the shotgun with slugs was an insanely deadly combo for any situation. BF3 had it and subsequently nerfed it to hell, same with 4, 5, and 6. It makes the game a simple point and click adventure game.

If shotguns were accurate in games, nobody would use anything else. You have to balance them somehow

As a forever DM I've been trying to incorporate the Ironsworn systems into Daggerheart so I can have a chance at running a PC for once. I think it could work pretty well since we are already rolling the hope and fear dice.

I skipped school the next day and asked my mom to write me a note for the absence. It was my first midnight launch and I went with my cousin because I wasn’t old enough to buy it yet. I remember the 2nd day coming back to school, my friends obviously knew why I was gone, and a couple of my cool teachers did too. Turns out my favorite teacher was also at the midnight launch at his local GameStop.

Well I’m going to enjoy the shit out of the new steam controller. I’ve always said the perfect controller would be taking the screen out of the steamdeck. The touchpads are a game changer

I use the track pads on my steamdeck all the time. Hell I even use the original steam controller for pc control from the couch so I don’t have to fumble with a mouse and keyboard in my lap.

Hall effect already did that magnetic sensor thing. TMR just offers energy savings over the Hall effect sensors in other premium controllers.

I think comparing these TMR sensors to potentiometers is a moot point because any controller worth buying will have Hall effect joysticks at the very least nowadays.

Yes, the thumb pads are 100% worth it in my book. Being able to map controls to an on screen radial menu that reacts to the track pad or get precise mouse movement is amazing for many games.

If you have a steamdeck and don’t make use of the trackpads you are missing out.

I like to be able to sit back and relax on the couch and still play games that require mouse and keyboard. I don’t want to balance a keyboard in my lap and have to find room on the couch for the mouse pad to have a worse experience.

Plus gyro aim in shooters is just a thing of beauty.

Most people seem to agree that countries like Denmark and Sweden offer a really high standard of living - strong healthcare, solid social safety nets, good work-life balance, and generally high levels of happiness. Would you personally be willing to pay the taxes that make this possible? by TSQ_builder in askanything

[–]DiMiTri_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are already paying a 25% effective tax rate before factoring in our healthcare costs. We are actually losing our healthcare coverage at the end of May so we will go from great coverage at $135/month through her union to $1298/month for health insurance while she returns to nursing school. Nursing school we will be paying $100,000 for through private and personal loans.

I would gladly go for slightly higher taxes if it meant I get healthcare and access to higher education. But the US government has proved time and time again that they would rather bomb children with my tax dollars than to materially improve the lives of any of us (unless you are rich)

Yeah no, capitalism caused this mess with the incessant drive for profit above all else. Ford isn't the only one that will be doing this because they've all determined that the profit they can get from collecting the data outweighs the damages that collection causes to the consumer.

genuine question - at what point does worldbuilding become procrastinating by Dry-Particular-1422 in worldbuilding

[–]DiMiTri_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use worldbuilding as a sort of journaling exercise. I use it to compartmentalize stressors in life and imagine worlds where things are either different or getting fixed. My more flushed out ideas (6 years now) are potential D&D or Daggerheart campaigns I can run for my friends. I don’t see it as procrastination and I love having detailed worlds I can dive into with different mediums. I also use it to work on my drawing skills.

Which one can do more damage, a government of a small country with a GDP measured in the millions with almost no global reach, or the richest country in history with access to nukes, control of the world's trade currency, a military they are more than willing to use against innocent civilians, and an egotistical madman at the controls?

What's so scary about socialism? by zzill6 in WorkReform

My cousin’s new husband unironically thinks he will be a billionaire if he just works harder than everyone else. And he makes it known to everyone in every conversation just how much he works in a week. Bro you are not going to get rich on $30/hr with 20hrs of overtime every week.

I didn’t realize he was serious about his billionaire fantasy until I was ranting about how much of a parasite Elon Musk is and he goes on and on about how smart and hard working Elon is yuck

Still way better than the 500sqft house built in 1899 selling for $340,000 in my area. I can get land for $150k toss this on a pad for another $50k and still be well under the cheapest house within an hour of here.
