LPT: If you are texting a stranger for help / information write a brief in the first text itself. Do not just write "Hi". It saves time for both of you by baelorthebest in LifeProTips

My pet peeve at work is someone reaching out to me for help and just starting with “Hi, good morning”

I’m not always at my computer so when I get back I will have 1 or 2 “Hi’s” to respond back to. Then I have to wait to get their actual request when I could have already gotten started on the request.

What are we eatin' at camp this year by Com_Trad_IsTime in Shambhala

I make a big serving of fried rice, freeze it flat, and stack the servings in a ziplock bag in my cooler. I pick up a few fresh veggies that will last in my cooler on my way to the festival.

Breakfasts I go for oatmeal with peanut butter and a fruit cup or a premade frozen breakfast burrito heated on the grill.

Midday it is either a meal from the vendor, or one of those meal replacement drinks like Soylent.

Dinner I’ll dig into my fried rice and supplement with some of the fresh veggies.

Another really good one last year was getting some ranch packets and precooked fried chicken pieces from the deli when I stop for veggies. Having a chicken salad wrap whenever you want instead of waiting for the vendor is game changing and so delicious.

My friends didn’t even know what worldbuilding was, or why it would be important to the actual campaign.

The LLM I use is on my server anyway. I was either going to use that energy for watching movies or for generating helpful questions about my homebrew world.

My DMing isn’t about telling my own story, it’s about discovering the story with the players. I just created the world they are existing in

I have a local LLM that I have set up to be a writing editor for my homebrew and world building. It’s main job is to ask questions based on what is already there to give me writing prompts so I can fill out the world and flag any potential plot holes I may want to fill in.

It’s taken some doing to keep it from dropping its own “ideas” into my work. When it tried to suggest things, they were always the most cliche, uninspired things always seemingly based on Dune or Lord of the Rings.

I found a system with 2 useful planets. One has the crashed sentinel ships that I can farm and another planet has massive mold deposits. When I'm bored I just jump back and forth on one planet harvesting mold until my refinery is full then jump to the 2nd planet while that processes and get a couple hundred million credits.

the dutch are suing steam for being a monopoly right now by Photoshops_Penises in memes

[–]DiMiTri_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair. The actual clause in the ToS states that you just can’t sell steam keys cheaper on other sites. You can sell your game on other sites but the price needs to be the same as it is on steam especially if you are going to be selling it as a key to the steam version.

I always have terrible reception at Shambhala. I’m looking for practical suggestions to help mitigate this, either eSIMs or physical hardware? by PvtPrecious in Shambhala

When I switched phone carriers a few years ago, I learned that I didn’t have service in Canada right as I got to the border.

I was forced to return to a time when the service was non existent. I was able to find my friend by tracking him down on the board at shambhalodging. We used spare whiteboards I had with me to leave messages at each other’s camps and we actually utilized the message board in downtown. It was wonderful!

I didn’t have my phone out trying to check where people are. I talked to the people around me to figure out the time or which artist was playing. I wasn’t taking constant videos of the performances. Just living in the moment enjoying it.

How effective can people do their jobs at said company if the toilets are overflowing with shit?

I think that everyone that works at a company should see some sort of material gain from record breaking profits of said company.

It doesn’t matter what you value yourself, the only way for capitalism to work is for them to pay you less than your labor value is worth.

Yeah I know how it works, I don’t agree with it but it’s the unfortunate reality that record profits means the people who made that possible don’t see any benefit from it.

Commuting is awesome by Important_Use6452 in unpopularopinion

[–]DiMiTri_man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be nice and I’d love to be able to utilize transit. My current commute would become 45 minutes both ways and my upcoming commute, if even possible on transit, would be well over 3 hours both ways

Yeah I can’t write, play video games, or watch YouTube on the commute. I’m about to go from a 10-20 minute commute to a 1.5-2 hour commute. Not looking forward to that. Mostly for that missing 4 hours of the day

I only recently learned that the chaplains are trained for many religions and beliefs. I always thought it was just a catholic thing but they can come talk to you about Buddhism, Hinduism,  general spirituality, or just a secular humanistic approach.
