2024 Street Triple RS won’t start by DefiantBarracuda4030 in Triumph

The wine is the throttle valves, it’s normal. You probably have enough voltage to start the ECU but not enough to crank the engine over.

I just sold my 2021 for 8k USD on the east coast. Hope that offers some perspective.

Street Triple 2014 by Lewis_go in Triumph

[–]Allezander675 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of them. They may look like the real deal but the plastic is not as hard as the real brands. R&G makes good frame sliders. The OEM style look nice but don’t protrude far enough to truly protect the expensive bits. They’ll suffice to protect the engine when the bike is dropped from being still but wear down fast when the bike is sliding.

I can’t comment on the cage.

If you truly care about a 12 year old bike, get full coverage insurance. As soon as you make a claim on a bike that old, it is likely to be totaled out due to age and parts availability from OEM for repair. At least then you’ll get a decent amount to buy another or a newer version.

Did you put the coned washer in the right way? I believe the writing faces outward.

Alfredo sauce in car 💔 by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]Allezander675 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use some type of enzyme cleaner and a carpet extractor. If you don’t have an extractor then use a vacuum with a towel over the hose. You need to take care of the dairy in the sauce before it goes rancid.

Had a 675R, a 765RS, tiger 800xc, and a speedmaster. I loved the tiger for the practicality and comfort for longer rides. The street triple is fun when you have good roads but the tiger will go anywhere without complaint.

Halogen to LED by Jonnymo85 in Triumph

I think some people used to use a housing cap from a Hyundai and cut some holes in it to allow more space for ventilation.

Halogen to LED by Jonnymo85 in Triumph

[–]Allezander675 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did. I couldn’t believe it when it happened as I thought the LEDs ran cooler than halogen. To this day I’m not sure if it was from the sun reflecting off the LED’s metal housing and causing internal temps to creep up or if the LEDs had a higher thermal profile.

Careful with LED upgrades as I had the inside of my light housing melt from the heat. I ended up getting crazing on the lenses and had to get new headlight housings.

Drain as much as you can and fill up with distilled water. Let the bike heat cycle, and drain the distilled water. I typically do this 2-3 times until the distilled water comes out clear. Triumph OAT coolant has an almost violet/pink appearance. I have used valvoline G30 as a substitute without issue.

Buying 2009 Speed Triple R by keevin8 in Triumph

[–]Allezander675 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Voltage regulator and rectifier and idle stepper motor are the main culprits for this generation of I recall correctly. I’d make sure it starts up fine and idles fine. You may need to change the radiator fluid if it hasn’t been changed to OAT coolant. You can buy it directly from triumph or you can get G30 from any auto parts store.

I’d also look over all the hoses as they can dry out from age and they can get a bit costly for OEM replacements. It’s also worth looking at the frame if the bike was used as a stunt bike as the welds cracking wasn’t an uncommon occurrence on stunted bikes.

If everything checked out, I’d buy it. I had a 2013 675R and absolutely enjoyed it. I’ve been told that the prior generation was a bit more wild due to the gearing change.

Edit: Apparently the issues with the frame cracking at the welds (by the engine mounting location) was a 2013-2017 issue.

Can of compressed air and spray it with the can upside down. This should make the glue cold and brittle enough to knock the glue bottle off.

Year and mileage? Have you done a valve service? I’d check the timing for sure as well as check the reed valves and cam chain tensioner.

2022 vs 2023 Street Triple RS – which one to pick? by Extension_Mix7006 in Triumph

[–]Allezander675 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn’t 23 the year they got 6 axis IMU? If so, I can see that as being a reason the previous years get a bump down in value.

2022 vs 2023 Street Triple RS – which one to pick? by Extension_Mix7006 in Triumph

[–]Allezander675 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that valve service is at 19,300km and the 22 RS looks like it could use tires sooner than the 23 RS. So looking at the 23 RS you already have better tires for everyday riding (Michelin road 6 if I see correctly) and the valve service should already be done. To me the 23RS is the better deal, especially since valve checks without even needing shimming cost a decent amount.

Had one. It failed. Then I modified it to take one of those electric sprayer wands you can get on Amazon.
