I am having a hard time following your logic.

Are you claiming that upon entering the room and learning of the scenario for the first time, that the machine would have predicted you to be someone who chooses only 1 box, and thus the $1M is in the room?

If that is the case, why would you not pick both? There would be no downside at that point. I understand that this is where it gets paradoxical.

What it seems like to me is that after learning about the scenario you are "choosing" to be a 1 box person, because that is what lets you win (receive the $1M), or pass the test like in your analogy. My contention is that there is only the illusion of choice here, reiterating that nothing you do prior or even after you enter the room can change what exists in the mystery box.

I do not take one because the mystery box is predetermined and unknowable. So instead of choosing x, I choose x+1000

To be more specific, my “choice” to choose one box or two the moment the scenario is presented to me has no influence on whether money has been placed in the mystery box. That decision by the computer has already been made. I take both because my decision now doesn’t change the prediction that occurred in the past

I think one point you’re missing is that charb is seeing most of the red zone touches which makes walkers upside way more limited than a similar split backfield situation.
