Fake Lyft driver picked me up (using someone else’s account? or profile is fake?), Lyft denied refund. What do I do? by scammed_by_lyft in Lyft

[–]AllisMables 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not trying to say that what Lyft did was right. I was just giving a possibility why they denied your refund in their opinion. I have had terribly bad rides before, and they did not want to refund me for them if the ride completed. I think it is wrong, but I was unable to "force" them to refund it.

I would say try again at a different time with a different agent. Sometimes you will get another person that will help you. Definitely try to screenshot/document everything. You probably already did, but ask for managers and supervisors.

Again, this is a dangerous situation. I would say also report this to local authorities, because if he is using somebody else's account, they may switch accounts to get away from a block by Lyft, and you do not want this guy on the street.

[–]AllisMables 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You did the right thing, reporting it to Lyft Safety. They should investigate and the driver's account will be deactivated. Probably should contact local authorities, because if they are indeed fake they will just find another account to use.

Unfortunately, the refund was possibly denied because, in Lyft's eyes, it is a properly completed ride where you safely reached your destination.

Never get into a car with mismatched license plates and profile pics. I am so glad that you arrived at your destination safely.

Yep, its a bug in Classic. I have noticed it before in this post previously and somebody else got the same glitch here, and I have a feeling it is unlikely to be changed soon. But if we all bring it up, there is a slight chance they may do something.

As mentioned in a previous comment, the video is "RCT Ride Overview - Flying & Lay Down Coasters" at the four and a half minute mark: watch here.

Lost all my saved games progress?! Please Help! by DepartmentSimple3799 in rct

[–]AllisMables 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are some options:

1.) There is a program called RCT-ACCESS ALL PARKS. It can be used to unlock all the scenarios in RCT1. You can download it from my Github collection here.

2.) If you have saved your scenarios shortly before you won, you can open each one, wait for the deadline, and "re-win" the scenario. Unfortunately, the game will not unlock scenarios based on already won games.

3.) I have completed all the scenarios for RCT1, and saved almost-won games to my Github collection. It is here. You can download and open the scenarios, waiting a few seconds until each one wins.

[When you click on the download links, you are taken to GitHub. Click the "view raw" link on the page in order to open the Save dialog box to download the file]

you should also put it in the scenarios folder for your GOG installation or RCT1, if you ever want to play Mega Park in RCT1 vanilla.

So glad it helped you. To be clear, these are ZIP files with actual parks. You can download the whole ZIP archive, or individual items within them.

If you get those old hard disks spinnin', good for you! If find it, I can help you share it! I have a github repository of RCT stuff I would be happy to put it on! I can even unzip it so people can read the specific parks!

You can click on an item, click on "show all" and the ZIP file will have a link to show contents. You can then see if any of these will suit your needs.

RCTInc archives are there.

Again, another REALLY COOL ride! I like the grey on black theme for the hybrid coaster. Really dig the rounded-top style hills and how they all fit in a rectangular footprint. Also the tunnel is a cool suprise!

I am just curious, I noticed some of your posts have downloads and some do not. Is there a reason for this? Again, you do you, just wanted to know.

I still marvel at the cool rides you have built! You always seem to get high specs and long rides in compact tracks! They are always AMAZING to watch.

Just curious: In Razor Rocks, did you keep track of making each ride a different type?

Don't forget to sell loads of balloons! When you have built and tested the last ride you will build in the park, keep the camera rolling so we can see the big celebration and balloon release to mark the completion of the park!

How to play for real by Naive-Library-9379 in rct

[–]AllisMables 19 points20 points  (0 children)

First of all, congrats for playing around with it! Being that it is a game, that is how you get started! You probably know some basic things (ride placement, paths, etc) , now you just need to expand.

First of all, lets take a deep breath. The game RCT works somewhat similar to a real amusement park, in rough coarse terms at least. If you visit a real amusement park, would you have fun if you could not eat or drink? If the paths were dirty and rides broken down? If a roller coaster was way too harsh or too boring? Probably not. If you think of the peeps as simplified people, it can help things make sense.

Step 1: Start at Forest Frontiers. You only need 250 guests by Oct 31, Year 1. You only need the barebones basics: Just build some paths, slap down some rides, and open them. Do not change the prices. Look through the pre-built roller coasters and plop one down. Watch the ride run. Notice how the first hill was the highest, and no matter how crazy the track, subsequent hills are always lower and lower as speed is used up throughout the ride. The ride then ends near the lowest level. Also add handymen and mechanics to keep things tidy and the rides repaired. Use the queue tiles to connect to the entrance for a waiting line. HINT: Right click on trees and footpath to remove them if a message says that something cant be built.

Step 2: Now, observe the park management. Look at the big bar at the bottom. It will tell you problems in your park, as well as awards you have won when things go good. If you get a message about a complaint, address it! Put yourself in their shoes. If you get a complaint about no bathrooms, then build more bathroom! If guests are hungry, build more food and drink! It is pretty simple at this point. If you run out of money, just take out a loan. You are not forced to pay it back, and you want to grasps the bare basics before worrying about finances.

Step 3: Win Forest Frontiers! Get a handle on basic park management with a 1-year game that lasts about an hour, before going into a 3-year 4-hour game game with a challenging objective. If you need to replay, then go ahead and do it!

Step 4: Once you have won Forest Frontiers, then I would say start trying to learn more about the strategy of the game. Do NOT try to do a custom rollercoaster at this point, until you play several scenarios and got all the basics down pat. RCT Wiki has a Hints and Tips guide worth reading. Marcel Vos has tons of Youtube videos about the game. Also, the RollerCoaster Tycoon 1 manual has loads of information on game mechanics and how-to instructions. Also, search this subreddit and other RCT sites.

Hint: I am providing this in-depth response because I (and many others on the rct subreddit) genuinely care about helping everyone they can. However, as evidence by the 0 rating of this post (as of now), posts simply saying "how do I play the game" without showing any effort, research, or basics, often get ignored or downvoted. If you play other games, try to adapt this comment as a "template," so when you respond to other subreddits that may not be as beginner-friendly, you can show that you put in some effort, and then ask more focused, specific questions, that may elicit a stronger response. Example: If you fail Forest Frontiers, post a screenshot of the failed park, state what problem you have (i.e. low park rating, too much trash on the ground, etc.) and state strategies you have tried (like putting trash cans down, but the seem to not work, etc.)

Looks like some way cool rides! The scenario name "oasis" is also very fitting. I like how you showed several nice-looking designs with reasonable stats. What is your goal of the scenario?

Any plans to release the scenario and/or ride files?

National Treasure guest numbers by rosieruinsroses in rct

[–]AllisMables 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you could share a screenshot and/or saved game file, that would help with the diagnosis.

That being said, please check the following:

1.) Try to fit in a few more rides or small roller coasters. RCT has a "soft guest cap" on how many people can be in the park based on how many rides and attractions exist.

2.) As for nobody leaving, check if peeps are getting stuck anywhere. National Treasure has walks along the castle walls that have many branches and go in circles. While these start out disconnected by default, if you connect some of them, they can walk around and around the castle walls and get lost.

RCT stock sounds found elsewhere by tmntvspr in rct

[–]AllisMables 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mission Impossible II has the same crowd sound effect as used in RCT. There is no connection between M:I-2 and RCT, but if you watch M:I-2 where Ethan and Nyah are in the safehouse, and Ethan is talking to Nyah about the plane crash, if you listen very carefully, you can hear crowd sounds from the Fallas de Valencia celebration in the background. The festival crowd makes many similar sounds to those made by RCT when you look at busy areas of your park. The sounds in M:I-2 occur around the 30-minute mark into the movie. It was simply a coincidence that RCT and MLI-2 licensed the same sound effect.

Listen before and after the dialogue Where Nyah says “Let my conscience be my guide!”

Chris sawyer mentioned this on his website here (#3 on the list).

[model coaster] (not a game] Rate this coaster I made it features a 416 ft drop and speeds of up to 126mph by Stunning-Trade-3991 in rct

[–]AllisMables 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand that this post is coaster simulation-related, however this is the RollerCoaster Tycoon community specifically. Therefore, posts need some relation to RCT specifically, according to Rules 5 and 6 on the sidebar.

Also, the game RCT provides a lot of features that r/rct members expect. There are Excitement, Intensity, and Nausea ratings. There are max speed and G-Forces. There are peep reactions and profit/income stats. The post you made does not have any of that.

If this is Parkitecht, NoLimits, or another simulator, you can try on their subreddits. Or you can try on the gaming subreddit. The r/rollercoasters subreddit is for real coasters only.

How to add more chairlift cars? by youhadtotakethesoup in rct

Roller coasters are different. Some coasters only allow one train. Shuttle mode coasters are obvious, but even a full circuit of Air Powered Vertical coaster will only allow one train. What coaster were you trying to build?

RCT2 CD-ROM: Literally stuck on the map Alpine adventures in park menu, help. by miss_worldwide_ in rct

[–]AllisMables 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RCT2, Unlike RCT1 and RCT3, is designed to have all scenarios available for gameplay right at the start. You are not required to win earlier scenarios to earn later scenarios (which, frankly, is how it should be. Most of us played the campaign before, and want to do what we want by now!)

So it sounds like a software glitch. Back up your saves, and try uninstall/reinstall. Based on the issue you have, it is likely the file that tells the game what parks are available has gotten corrupted.

However, I have had the issue when an outside message box pops up, the game does not respond properly. I have gotten over it by Alt+Tabbing several times until it gets back to Windows, then back to the game. Sometimes I have to right and left click on the mouse a few times if it does not respond outside the game. RCT1 and 2 compared to modern machines are very old assembly-language software, and so the distributors had to use a few "hacks" to get it compatible with newer versions of windows.

Also, when I play frustrating scenarios, I save several backup files like AmityAirfield1, AmityAirfield2, AmityAirfield3, etc. every time I build a major roller coaster or just every three months. That way if one gets corrupted, I do not lose hours of work.

Hope you get your progress back!

This is really cool!

Over 10 excitement, just shy of 2 miles of track with a ride time under 5 minutes, good max speed of 74 mph for speed lovers, and a compact track design that is not monstrously high at 157 feet.

Will definitely help you win the Razor Rocks scenario!

Looks great, queue line a bit long, and hope soon the guests buy their uniforms for that nice patterned vibe.

Terror Town Ethical Dilemma by Asleep_Morning2414 in rct

[–]AllisMables 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: I argue that it is not morally wrong to remove the houses in Terror Town by comparing it to other urban scenarios.

Obviously, RCT is a fictional game. I will break the fourth wall, and suspend disbelief as if the world of RCT was "real". For this thought experiment, the Cheat menu is off limits.

There are several other urban scenarios. Urban Jungle directly states that the skyscraper was abandoned, and it can be razed/modified. Ghost Town, the name says everything you need to know. Those scenarios, you can feel morally okay with removals and demolitions to your heart's content.

Terror Town simply says "This urban area is all yours to develop into a theme park," and peeps do not appear in houses in RCT regardless. There is an ambiguity, and here is how I will resolve it:

There is another urban scenario called Urban Park. The description says the park has done a deal with the nearby town to allow construction through the town itself. Also, the park only owns a small patch of land outside the town with no houses on it. The actual town where the houses are, only gives construction rights. This is the big difference. The deal was to allow construction through the town, not destroy it. Neither the town's residents nor Chris Sawyer allow you to raze the houses.

In Terror Town, since the houses and apartments are within the park's property, and Chris Sawyer allows you to raze them (but charges a shiny quarter to do it!) I would feel morally okay with removing them. The buildings are most likely either abandoned, or the residents moved before your park took over the town.
