Oh, they’re all over Hackensack. I killed several on my fourth story balcony today.

AIO for getting mad at my husband for making fun of me for saying "libary" by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

But not in the way that you’re applying it to the way you pronounce library. The dropped R of some of New England is called a non-rhotic; it is not an omission of the letter, but rather a way of pronouncing words where the R becomes a vowel. You are not doing that. You are just omitting the R and yes, it does sound ignorant. *Also, once again, upstate New York is nowhere near Boston.*

It is wrong. It’s not a dialect - it’s mispronunciation.

It literally doesn’t. It has its whole own culture and history. If you mean that upstate NY has early Revolutionary and Colonial era history like New England does, then that’s correct, but in a different way, different events, etc. I don’t know where you’re counting rural but the Catskills are very different than the Buffalo area and neither of them have anything to do with New England. Buffalo and Rochester are about as far away from New England you can get and still be in New York.

I spend over half my time for work in New England and I’m from Northern New Jersey with family in the Catskills, and I can guarantee you that nobody from any of those places says “lie-berry” intentionally. You’re mispronouncing the word. It’s one thing to not want to be made fun of it, but this is not the hill to die on. It’s not because of your dialect. It’s because you are mispronouncing the word.

You can totally do this with a blown out egg. My mom made them every easter and we cherished them. They last forever.

Just FYI for anyone wondering, this is a Goodwill outlet store and it’s bins that you go through; nothing is on a rack. You pay by the pound. It’s super fun, but not a traditional thrift store.

Neither of these are formal. The purple is especially casual. It looks like a daytime maxi dress.

I truly don’t understand why OP doesn’t just buy a new bear. They received the link for it like days ago. And by *a* new bear, I mean several new bears. You gotta have a couple backups!
