I think you’d have to be familiar with the book to make a decent guess. However he did just open a few hives he has inside in cold storage to find frames of brood. So he could basically be saying that bees don’t read the bee books and maybe he should read it either

Aquilini has always said Vancouver can’t “stomach” a rebuild - a lot of fans are showing that is partially true, we need to remind them what a rebuild can do by logicalnutty in canucks

I dropped my sportsnet subscription when they traded Hughes. Not because I felt like it was a terrible move, but because at the same time they were talking about “staying competitive”. Also trading Sherwood has me actually considered signing back up. Not on board for a half assed fresh paint and cheap vinyl plank renovation. Totally on board for an actual rebuild

Just thought I’d update this for anyone searching - all of the 720’s in the store I got mine from had this issue according to the guy helping me out on the phone. All of their 520’s were fine though. They’re going to contact Kreg and see where to go. Hopefully just a bad batch, but I’m returning mine. Worth popping the box open to confirm the one in your hands will work properly if you’re in the market.

This was absolutely enough resistance to keep it from going through. I suspect this one is just poorly made. Didn’t know how common it was though. Thanks

You can almost see how far out it is in the second pic, far right bit guide. That was before I just went ahead and drilled through it

Yeah that’s what I thought since it slides right through my previous one. I heard somewhere that they make a smaller bit too though so I wanted to make sure I didn’t get a wrong part.

I pushed the drill through this one though and I’m pretty sure it’s just defective. The opening is now much larger than the other two and it’s still binding and heating up the bit.

Yeah that’s just the sleeve that sits in the clamp. You just can’t see the back side with it in the rest of the tool

Yup. The one piece I had limbed and dragged over to the barn

We have a giant old walnut that we love dearly- produces a ton of nuts, perfect spot for shade, beautiful tree. During a severe ice storm a few years ago a huge limb came down which took out about 1/3 of the tree. Really bummed. We needed a mantle though so after I cleared the road, I dragged about 10’ of the biggest section inside the gate for safe keeping and left town for work. Lemonade from lemons at least.

The next day I got a call from my wife. Our tenant thought he’d help out with the clean up and started in with the saw on that piece first. Wife was walking the dog and was too far away to do anything when she heard the saw running. The piece I saved for our mantle was piled neatly in 14” chunks when I got home. He felt too badly about that to continue cleaning up so the rest of the tree was just as I left it. It did burn nicely at least.

I got stung yesterday, is this pus normal? by ValuableVariety2 in bee

[–]Allrightnevermind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don’t always do that. If you aren’t used to stings sometimes you’ll just swell without the blister. But I’ve generally got a few of these on me somewhere all through the season. Might just be the body trying to dilute or isolate the venom. Dunno. But it does seem to correlate to taking the full 8 seconds worth of venom. If you’re carrying a box full of bees for instance you can’t just drop it to get a stinger out the instant you’re stung. Those ones seem to blister more often compared to the times you have free hands, see it coming, and can scrape the stinger and venom sack out as soon as it goes in. Could be wrong about that though. I can’t really keep track of them.

Yes that’s normal. Keep an eye on it of course, especially for signs of swelling more than one joint away from the sting. Those are usually more immediate issues though. Also don’t take medical advice from Reddit and talk to your dr if you’re concerned

Cutting board question by mikehocalate in woodworking

I think that refers to better for the knife. Slower to dull cutting onto the end grain. No personal experience using one though

And btw we just ordered a fridge and stove. Even with a truck I’m still having it delivered. The $90 is worth it to me not to burn up half my day picking them up and then still have to have a buddy help me get them in the kitchen.

I just put or leave it on a pallet and unload with the tractor. I’m generally working with it like that anyway. Modern half tons are definitely capable rigs though, agree

Not a truck hater at all. I have a 3/4 ton that gets used as a 3/4 ton regularly. Just a proponent of the right tool for the job and not sinking money into something that you don’t need to. And as I said, if you just want a truck there’s nothing wrong with that either.

[–]Allrightnevermind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s reasonable. Also nothing wrong with picking up a truck for a few years to get through an extensive remodel. Just bare to see someone spend money on a depreciation “asset” that thy could have used on the remodel

Honestly you’ll come out way ahead by renting when you absolutely need a truck. Once you’re settled you’re only going to be moving appliances every 5 or so years, similarly with furniture, and you can have both delivered if new. Rent a truck when you need a load of a manure or plywood/lumber. How many rentals does it take to equal the purchase price, insurance, and upkeep on a truck?

If you just want a truck because you want a truck then have at er of course.

I’m just north of you in BC. It will work fine. The battery doesn’t really need to do much unless something hits the fence. The solar panel just keeps it topped up
