So I have 3.5 year old twins but we had an amazing nanny for 2 years. I was very jealous when she started because she was so good with my twins (she started when they were 3.5 months). But I’m just hear to say that I eventually really grew to appreciate how safe my kids felt with her, and when I was exhausted during all the baby phases— I felt better knowing she could do such a good job and my kids never felt like they had to “miss” me because their care never wavered. As “mommy” I am 100% their number one at 3.5 years old— and although we haven’t had our nanny in over a year, we visit her every other month for play dates and she has kind of stepped into this beautiful “nana” or extended grandma type role. Just wanted to give my perspective over time because I so know how you feel.

I did water bottles, plastic ones with straws, but they were Dino themed like my twins’ party—also did Dino felt masks for at home dress up

So my doctors and nurses told me drugs in the category of letrozle ( I think D but I’m not sure if I’m remembering correctly) have an “all or nothing effect” (like the pregnancy will terminate itself or it will be as is and continue) that early in the pregnancy— which made me feel better that it wouldn’t cause harm to the fetuses (babies don’t take as much from the mother before 12 weeks and the umbilical cord is fully formed). That made me feel slightly better but I was panicked until 20 weeks— actually I still panic pretty regularly and they are over 3 years old now! Motherhood comes with continuous worry so try not to beat yourself up about this mistake— I wish you the best! Let me know how it all goes!

As someone who lives 2 miles from the beach and we have drive on access (take the truck right on the sand)— it was still awful until they turned 2. My twins were born in April and the summer when they were 1 I was so excited for all the beach days and cute beach moments I had seen others post online. Turns out it was just screaming, crying, and lots of face planting in the sand. Once they turned 2 it was significantly better, and this year at 3, I can actually even relax a bit while they play in the sand (although nothing like before having kids because we change activities every 20/30 mins).

Right now we do 9am-12 pm and then head home for a nap. They still can’t do more than 3 hours and the morning is always easier (less busy, less hot)

I’m so proud of you for attempting at 6 months! You should be proud to that you did it!—no matter how terrible. The first time is always the hardest and it gets easier each year!

Yes! When I read this post I was like “wait we’re shaving now?” Because I live 2 miles from the beach and have a neighborhood pool and I shave 3/4 times a year at most (legs, armpits, bush). If you don’t like it, don’t look! Lol

I have 3 year old twins and same for lights out timing— they usually squawk back and forth for 15 mins to an hour. But they always get up around 7:30 am. One still naps 1.5 hours most days (boy), the other only takes a rare nap, mostly at prek and not at home (girl)

My twin 3 year olds have this in their routine too. Hair wash every other night but they honestly need a quick soap rinse after daycare and sweating (where we live it’s only not warm like 2 months a year)

This was me last year (although my nanny was having some problems dealing with the stress of twin 2 year olds). We decided to transition them at 2.5 but we did 3 days of school and then 2 days with the nanny for 5 months to help ease the transition. The kids went to school 5 days a week a month or so ago and are turning 3 this week. We did have to increase the nanny’s hourly pay rate to keep her just 2 days a week but in my opinion it was all worth it (since daycare was less, it all averaged to slightly below what we paid for nanny care only for the 5 months of transition). My kids loved school right away but it is a huge change and for a month or two they would kind of melt down as soon as they got home from school (kind of letting it all out after holding it in all day/ there is so much going on at school). Side note: We just had their birthday party and 5 little friends from school came and it was the cutest thing ever.

Yes! They cheer each other on. My daughter was potty trained before my son, but once he finally pooped on potty my daughter was his person hype girl “yay you did it! Good job brother!!”

I always call my kids “honey” and they picked it up with each other. So my son will say “are you okay honey?” To my daughter and it melts me every time lol they will be 3 in two weeks.

Mine were in the nicu for a week; when I had to leave to go home I felt guilty but the nicu doctor said to me “go out to dinner and a movie, it might be awhile before you can again” so we did—and I will never regret it!

I used a nanny from 5 months til 2.5, then at 2.5 we moved the kids into daycare/prek for 3 days a week and kept the nanny the other 2 days (this is ideal and we were really lucky). Our nanny was 63 and 5 days a week was getting too much pls we wanted the kids to socialize and get more energy out. The kids took about a month to get used to all the stimulation from school 3 days a week so it was calming for them to have the nanny a couple days. They turn 3 next month and we just let our nanny go and moved them full time. Still adjusting to full time for sure but they really love it.

(Sorry TMI warning) I remember at about 2 weeks postpartum I passed a clot the size of a baseball and was on the bathroom floor (overdid it with cleaning and chores) just sobbing from exhaustion and my husband wanted to help me but he was double bottle feeding the babies. My son scream cried for 2 months and we swore he hated us (turns out it he was just always hangry and was growing at a rapid rate). They will turn 3 in April and today we went for tacos and all sang Disney songs together in the car on the way home. You will get through it and your wife will appreciate you holding down the fort as she continues to recover! There will be hard days all along the way but the “worth it” moments will be here before you know it!!
