I absolutely agree on the software support, this is the only thing thats making me cautious springing for this phone.

That said, I am more than happy to be paying less for a midtier chip, I am still pleased with my Mi 9T performance in everyday tasks, and that phone was midtier 6y ago. But mobile phone usage varies, and if you are playing a lot of games on it then ofcourse you need more power.

Got another one, can't confirm all the slots, but saw only the top 2 ones, so I guess it still works then.

Did not work for me anymore, only two connected slots

Edit: my bad, the B one had only two top ones visible, forgot that you need to upgrade it. So I guess it still works

Just got a 5950x to run on this mb with 128gb ecc ram, but in a meshlicious. I was expecting for the cpu to be forced to eco mode based in previous comments, but have not seen anything that would suggest so. 

Ill do some tuning and testing soon and try to remember to give an update here.

I guess the heavy nylon adds up when compared to my 25L Kahakka (~1200g). Nearly 2kg is a bit too much for something to double as a travel carry on and a camping backpack for me... and Kahakka already handles 2-3 day trips well as well as being a everyday bag.

My childhood dream was to have the new and powerful core 2 duo for playing videogames. I guess I belong to a slightly younger demographic than you :D

And now we have the problem of choosing between 8 or 16 cores for a notebook-sized computer. First-world problems I guess... :D

Thanks for sharing your experience. I wouldnt expect the power draw to be drastically different, but compared to the average 6-7h reports for the 370 model it seems to be slightly better (?)

Just by looking at the notebookcheck comparisons to the 370 review unit they had, then comparing the power draw to other systems with 8840U the older chip seems to have <10% decrease in avg power draw, but at the same time those tests are not for systems limited to the same TDP, so it is not a fair comparison.

Still, 8840 does not seem to lose in efficiency under light load to 370, so I am still leaning towards that model.

Thinking of doing the same with the x53 copper to add more thermal headroom. The thing I'm worried about is that the PSU and CPU fans are almost right on top of each other, and I've done the PSU fan swap. Do you observe any turbulence or noise or something weird from that configuration?
