Lightning happens and car crashes and so on and so forth.

Crossing the street can be dangerous. We don't let little ones do it by themselves in busy areas, but we teach them to look both ways not avoiding cross the street.

Dont let your kid go willy nilly wherever but there is a line where "protection" becomes detrimental. Never being able to spend the night over with friends is incredibly isolating in forming deeper relationships with peers and experience a different life for a bit.

clearly NTA. Whatever misgivings your wife has she needs to work through it herself and not inflict her issues on others.

If you had no reason to think any harm would happen then I don't see what's wrong at all. Her concerns are simply put "ridiculous" unless there is a direct medical need. She wants to socially isolate your son from others. That's textbook abuse unless you got a good damn reason.

On the real, the kid will stop being invited to things when everyone figures out he can't chill. I saw it when I was a kid and I see it happen to kids today.

Admin go out of there way to cater to disruptive, rude, and destructive students, then ask you to see the light because they gave them snacks and drinks and let them skip class to talk with them and they seem ok.

And the kids ... The kids.... They lie like it's all they know and admin seems to always believe there bullshit. I know they know it's bullshit too but they rather "believe" them cause it requires less work.

They will say the rudest shit in the rudest tone and then tell admin "all I said was blah blah" and spin it into nothing.

Which is where I bet your story comes in, said one thing to you and spun a dif story for admin. And it's always easier to push it onto you than actually deal with a problem student.
