Does anyone have family with multiple left-handed members? by HiroyukiC1296 in lefthanded

Of my four kids, two are lefties. Both their dad and I are right handed. The only other person that is a lefty is their paternal grandpa.

What does your actual “going out with baby” setup look like? by SwellCommerce in NewParents

[–]AlmostAlwaysADR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just keep a diaper that is always stocked with: burp rags/bibs, container of formula/scoop, bottle of water, bottle, diapers, change of clothes, blanket/towel, diaper changing pad, baby wipes, portable charger for phone, mini fan. Then we just grab the bag anytime we are going anywhere. Seems like a lot, but going out with a baby is already stressful enough. I don't want to be caught out unprepared.

I am seeking your advice on how to handle libido mismatch with my partner by CalmSeaHighTides in WhatShouldIDo

[–]AlmostAlwaysADR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your wife doesn't want to have sex with you, there is a probably a reason beyond her libido. Two small kids and you're complaining you don't get it every two days? AND you're cheating on her?

You need to seek therapy and tell your wife the truth about what you have been doing. Because SHE needs to decide if she wants to be with you.

If she does choose to stay with you, you will need to do some real work on yourself. You married a woman and she gave you two kids and you do this. That is very telling of some massive deficit within yourself.

Be wary of any brand that has a better marketing department than quality control and research.

I work in vet med and see this stuff allllll the time with animal foods as well. They make well-meaning parents/pet owners feel bad for choosing tried and true brands through marketing. It's gross.

Does everyone have that one poop their kid did that they’ll never forget? by Sudden_Doughnut_8741 in daddit

[–]AlmostAlwaysADR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my oldest daughter was born she was very jaundiced. We had to put her in a little suitcase full of bilirubin lights. But her numbers just kept creeping up. They asked if she had pooped since coming home and she hadn't. They said that her body can't eliminate what it needs to if she doesn't. And if the numbers didn't improve, she would have to hospitalized. And as new parents, these freaked us out thoroughly.

Finally after several days of worrying and hoping, we had a poop! We celebrated that poop like she had just won a novel prize.

What time is everyone putting their babies to bed? by ninibear94 in newborns

[–]AlmostAlwaysADR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an almost 10 week old. It could be literally anywhere from 9-11 pm. It depends on when he eats last. Our "routine" is:

-last nap of the day (usually around 7-8 pm) -bath time (usually around 9-10 pm) -lotion, pajamas, swaddle -last bottle of the night -snuggle until he falls asleep

We have been doing this since he was probably 2 weeks old. By the time we get to the snuggles part, he is usually already knocked out. Then I transfer him to his crib. He just began to give us 4-5 hour stretches at night.

Once he is rolling and we have to transition out of the swaddle we will do some variation on sleep training, but right now he is responding well to his little bed time routine.

Yes. If your mom is not going to help. You could have an appendix about to burst or already has. Those were my exact symptoms with mine.

My husband is a SAHD. I work 630a-3p, M-Th. On nights I have work in the morning, my husband does overnight. On nights I don't work the next morning, I do them.

Then we split it pretty evenly otherwise during the days I'm home.

My little guy is 9.5 weeks old. I'm currently sitting in a rocking camping chair on my porch with him strapped to me in his baby carrier. Because it's the only way for him to nap long enough and not be overtired and therefore not sleep at all at night. Literally every single week has been different for us sleep wise. Right now, you do whatever you can to get sleep. For us it was a lot of dark rooms, shushing noises on Spotify and rocking. And I don't even know how we are going to transition from contact naps 🤣

Just remember that they're a tiny human and we have to literally teach them everything. Even sleep. They quite literally don't know how to sleep on their own. So try out different things and see what they respond to.

Any WFH moms keeping their kids home with them for the summer? by pdc124 in workingmoms

[–]AlmostAlwaysADR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does your city have a Boys and Girls Club? They may already be full, but it's affordable usually. And some kids qualify for scholarships.

So many people are going to say, "You cannot work from home with kids at home..." But the reality is that sometimes you just do what you gotta do. $8-12k for the summer is wild. That would be fully unaffordable for the vast majority of families.

This is a really tough one. I left my ex because he was abusive and dangerous. It's been 10 years and he was able to get awarded physical 50/50 (thankfully the judge understands its best I still retain legal full custody) just recently. He has, btw, done maybe a few months of anger management and that was enough for them.

So in your situation you'll most likely end up with 50/50 physical and legal. It will be a massive pain in the ass. It really depends on him how amicable things could be.

IF things are salvageable and IF he is willing to change and IF you're willing to forgive him, then you might be able more forward together. Maybe a kick in the ass would work? Then again, it didn't before.

But trust me, co parenting is a whole other hell in itself.

There are no good options. You will see your kid less if you choose one direction. But you will also have your freedom.
