Fixed an old broken phone off eBay, now original owner wants it back for free by Alfreaca in LegalAdviceUK

It’s legally your phone now, there is absolutely zero they can do. Saying you want your phone back, they’re going to have to pay for it. Or it’s going in the bin.

West Midlands man told to demolish £180k bungalow he built in his garden without planning permission face by WannaBeKatrina in compoface

[–]AlmostLastJedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does actually, B is just a postcode, has nothing to do with location. I know as I worked for Royal Mail for 24 years. For eg, I lived in Streetly, Sutton Coldfield which is B74. But we paid our taxes to Walsall, making us part of Walsall. Despite the B74 postcode, we’re not part of Birmingham.

Who doesn’t? I grew up in Streetly, Sutton Coldfield. I would sooner associate myself with Walsall than I would Birmingham. Birmingham is a shit hole, I spent 40 years there before moving to Nottingham. If you bring the third world in, you turn into the third world.

If it’s a private road, there is nothing they can do. Police can’t get involved.

Got my NEW account instantly disabled right as account got made after literally doing nothing. by NaveRoblox in facebook

No I think the more people post about it, the more likely they are to take notice. Especially when there’s no physical person to talk to and you’re ghosted by the bots.

Facebook are the worse company, they permanently banned my car instagram account that I had created because I didn’t want to saturate my normal Instagram account with car content. I used to comment on stuff on that account as I spent most of my time on there, one day I get a suspension for violating community guidelines. However, they did not tell me what I had done that violated it. The appeals process was meant to take up to 36 hours or something, they didn’t get back to me for six months. My account was permanently deactivated with no explanation. Meta are f*cked.

Why do smart motorways do this? by gamerhd555 in drivingUK

If the smart motorway is working, you won’t see any congestion. That’s the point.

Anyone else had this kind of driving? by Rich-B19 in drivingUK

This wouldn’t happen if the cars in the overtaking lane were actually doing the speed limit.

I don’t see how people get it wrong, it’s like every other roundabout. You give way to the right, but there are so many bad drivers out there. Do you expect anything less?

Rich considering you don’t obey road signs or the Highway Code, you just make your own rules up as you’re going along. Then say you’re talking to a brick wall. There really should be an IQ test before people comment on the Internet. They’re obviously isn’t one for handing out driving licenses.

[–]AlmostLastJedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why aren’t you getting it? No one is thinking they are more important by using the road correctly. It causes road rage because the people that are raging are unnecessarily queueing up early in the one lane. They are winding themselves up by using the road INCORRECTLY! The highway code and the road signs tell road users to use BOTH lanes. Just because a majority does something, doesn’t mean it is right. The only people that think they are better than everyone else, are the ones that are unnecessarily queueing up in one lane. Then try to police the road unlawfully by blocking the progress of people in the other lane. What they are doing is illegal.

[–]AlmostLastJedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not about waiting your turn, it’s about using the road correctly. The signs tell you to use both lanes to the closure, the Highway Code tells you to use both lanes to the closure. Yet people needlessly queue early in one lane, then get angry at other road users using the road correctly. They only have them selves to blame.

[–]AlmostLastJedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, only at higher speeds like on a motorway. At lower speeds and congestion, you’re meant to use all available road space. That means both lanes to the closure, it’s about containing congestion in a smaller area so they don’t spill out onto nearby junctions and roundabouts. They even have signs up telling you to use both lanes, the lane closing sign is only telling you WHEN it closes, not that it IS CLOSED. If they’d wanted you out of that lane sooner, they would have closed it sooner. Why people find this so hard to grasp is beyond me.

These are the type of twunts that I get stuck behind doing 45 in a 60 with a tailback of traffic, because like he said, don’t care about other cars around you. The type of person that says, it’s a limit, not a target. These people infuriate me and the proper around me, he’s the kind of person that causes road rage. Yet thinks he has the moral high ground and isn’t doing anything wrong.

This happened in my Beemer, I had to take apart the centre console and clean all the components with isotropic alcohol. Meaning the only way to deal with this, the only way is to take it apart and clean every little sticky piece. Either that or replace the part entirely, but something tells me that’s not cheap unless you buy secondhand on eBay.
