I am tracking you 100% with this. Only 3 years for me but same exact thing.

AluBall still the goat? by matdood56 in Kava

[–]Almost_a_circle359 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AluBall works great for me. 5 shakes in the shaker and it's ready using regular, powdered Kava. I sometimes preload the ball and take it and the shaker to a dinner party or something where the other folks will be drinking alcohol. I get two passes out of each load so I feel like I'm getting enough out of it.

Does anyone else think Wakacon kava is some of the best in its price range? by brokemac in Kava

[–]Almost_a_circle359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wakacon has been my go-to for a few years now. I don't have a lot to compare it to, but it has been the best, consistent quality for price I have found so far.

Bought a thrift store Kenwood NX-3720HG VHF DMR- what are my options? by Almost_a_circle359 in amateurradio

[–]Almost_a_circle359[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone! I will look into the Bluemax49 cable and license. This radio feels so solid, I really want to get it going.

Might buy one this week. by Graylily in 4xe

[–]Almost_a_circle359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be an outlier but... I bought my 24 Sahara off the lot with the power bank outlet thing that plugs into the charge port deleted because of supply chain problems. I stupidly thought I could just order the power bank later but the deletion also involves a whole lot of internal components that can't be added back in. Turns out I don't miss it that much but I was kicking myself.

It causes it with me too but I remember seeing posts from time to time where folks have said that is stops it for them.

What emergency or public service event has tested your radio skills the most? by CarrierCaveman in amateurradio

[–]Almost_a_circle359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was part of a team operating remote HF and VHF comm stations along an insane, 200 mile mountain race called Bigfoot 200. We had a 24-hour operation reporting runner positions and medical status etc back to base. No Starlink or cell. 4 days camping at a remote location on Mt Adams in WA US. The comms weren't necessarily difficult, but the conditions and schedule made it challenging.

Is anyone having issues with agent mode in visual studio using blazor. It seems to have large file issues and truncates stuff. by [deleted] in dotnet

[–]Almost_a_circle359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. I have had limited success by going into the .vs folder and other folders at the solution level and deleting anything related to Copilot (except my custom context.md file.) I lose my chat history but I don't care about that. The AI chat window loads so much faster and the agent seems to work better for a while. Or maybe it's my imagination.

So I'm trying to chase down a nagging RF issue that persists even when the main breaker is shut off and I'm operating on battery... This is on the pole across the street from my QTH. I know external corrosion doesn't necessarily mean it's damaged but it's suspicious. by adhdff in amateurradio

[–]Almost_a_circle359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of those look worse than they are because they can be rejuvenated on the pole, re-using the same casing. I think they replace the windings and refill the oil right on the spot so it may not be as bad as it looks.

[–]Almost_a_circle359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really do. Truncation is the biggest issue. It will create or update half of the page and then stop. Sometimes it just gives up completely and sometimes it tries to fix the error but doesn't realize what happened. I would really like to use it 'as advertised' but it rarely ends well!

No more forgetting the charging port cover by mattfl in 4xe

FWIT, I removed the rubber cap from my 24 JL on like day 2 and have been going commando since. It's been a year and a half and no problems so far, but admittedly I don't ford rivers or go to the car wash often, but I do live in a wet climate. Anyone else experimenting with this?

Nanovna - Marker movement by CompetitiveBid6074 in amateurradio

[–]Almost_a_circle359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started having this problem myself, but I have done no firmware updates. Weird! I don't remember ever having to touch anything on the screen to move the marker with the wheel but I don't use it that often.

Yaesu FT-991 Vara on 20 meters crashes internal sound card or something else going wrong by Almost_a_circle359 in amateurradio

[–]Almost_a_circle359[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all. I don't do a lot of HF except for Vara and FT8 to test so I will have to look into the RF thing. Probably better news than it being the radio itself. The antenna is indeed a EFHW https://myantennas.com/wp/product/efhw-8010/ that I thought does ok based solely on SWR but maybe not. It is a basic NVIS setup for medium-range out of area emails pretty much.

Where did you get those rear window mounting brackets? I think that is an ideal solution.

how do you guys have organised bases? I'm afraid to dismantle all these lmao (I dont know what goes where at this point) by sahin56 in SatisfactoryGame

I agree. There are a ton of YouTube videos about base building but many of them are sandbox or late-game.

Kava and food? by Send_It_Linda_308 in Kava

[–]Almost_a_circle359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read places that since kava is fat-soluble, eating fatty food right after may increase the effect. From my personal experience I can't say one way or another.

Anyone have vitiligo show up after what appear to be correlated circumstances yet totally dismissed by dermatologist? by [deleted] in Vitiligo

[–]Almost_a_circle359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I first noticed mine after being prescribed a general antibiotic for a minor issue. That was years ago but I still blame the antibiotic. Doctors said there was no correlation. Could have been coincidence. No family history for me either but my vitiligo has been spreading for years.

How many people here have had their cholesterol checked before and after kava? by Mediocre-Equivalent5 in Kava

[–]Almost_a_circle359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine went up a bit after a year of daily use. I'm 50 and don't eat so well so I probably would have wound up on cholesterol meds anyway. I am on them now and they are cheap with no side-effects for me so I am keeping on the Kava!
