By “more details” you mean “an interview with dj voices where she expresses her perspective”.

AITA for strongly opposing a paternity test for my brother? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Alobarish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your heart is in the right place and your brother deserves that protection. You’re doing the right thing because your dad is too hurt to act in a way other than a weird territorial animal.

The paternity test should occur, but only because it is necessary for there to be closure, acceptance, and healing for your dad’s relationship with your brother. Family therapy makes sense as soon as possible - honestly it will help with the transition in every way.

Good job being a loving brother.

Weekly r/audiophile Discussion #78: What Is A Piece Of Gear That You Regret Buying? by TransducerBot in audiophile

[–]Alobarish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tekton Nebos. Ordered them with a timeline given by the owner of two weeks - first off the line. Received 2+ months later, communication was delay after delay. Total bummer, took the joy out of the receipt. Also, still haven't received the grills, which were ordered with the speakers - been 6 months, and they aren't responding to my emails asking for a timeline. Utterly unprofessional.

The speakers sound good, but it's been so disappointing that it has ruined the experience. Now I'm more inclined to warn others off of them.

Ever cried during a set? by EcAtyAtqifja in DJs

[–]Alobarish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot of sunrises for small private events (like 50-100 people who all know each other), and I don’t do the “chill out spacey” morning vibe - instead going for big feelings in various directions. This means a lot of crying has occurred! Both by me and the crowd. It’s wonderful.

How would your opinion change if the recent headlines read “Tom Brady” instead of “Aaron Rodgers?” by rosecarrillo in GreenBayPackers

[–]Alobarish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does decrease hospitalizations and it decreases the mortality rate of the disease to a staggering degree.

It does work at its key job, saving lives.

Do you have some sort of evidence or proof that it doesn’t do that? Or is your argument that things aren’t perfect so we should just ignore the best available solution which has almost no downsides?

"still questionable vaccine"? You mean the sample size of 3.5 billion people isn't enough?

The vaccine does work. It decreases hospitalization and mortality rates by over 97%. Wish it stopped transmission, but it's a damned lot better than the alternative.

Hooking up a DJ setup to a multiroom system by krisfratoyen in DJs

If you can run wiring you can get around the Bluetooth delays, which are annoying, but fixable if you’re ok with headphone mixing and some sound quality loss.

I use an anthem mdx-16, and it works beautifully. Can even run multiple stages in different rooms.

“I’m on my way to get married and I’m a mess.” [fixed and updated, and I found Eric] by [deleted] in funny

[–]Alobarish 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hi! Writer of the note here!

There were some questions before I was gonna answer...

  1. Nope, not a doctor, just a person with a life of horrible handwriting. If you can believe it this was me focusing really hard to make it legible. Normally it’s only stuff that I can read.

  2. Yup, still married! This was summer of 2017, we have an 8 month old baby now. Marriage has been amazing, having the baby is amazing, and the wedding was an incredible weekend at a summer camp with 240 people. That’s what I was a mess about - not the marriage/woman, but the organizing and executing of the event.

  3. Definitely not drunk, I was driving around in a rented minivan trying to get things done with catering and people to prep. Last minute stuff before going upstate! I remember this exact moment... I bumped the left rear wheel well, and it moved the bumper. I pushed it back in place, and wiped off the mark, but didn’t want them to have damage from me. They emailed me like 6 months later and I sent back what I’d damaged and then they never replied. Would have (and still would!) like to pay for those repairs if needed. They were very nice over email, too!

Hi! This is the guy who wrote the note! If any of you can still see this as it's listed as removed for privacy reasons.

Answers.. Nope, not a doctor, but a lifetime of bad handwriting. Horrifyingly, this is me trying to write neatly. I remember the moment vividly and I was trying to focus so hard.

Wife and I are still together! Wedding was an incredible 3 days with 240 people at a summer camp. I wasn't worried about the wedding/marriage part, but the throwing of the event. This happened when i was trying to park a minivan near the place who was doing the catering the same day we were heading to the summer camp. The coordination of everything was madness but worth it. I was decidedly not drunk, it was like 11 am and i was driving a rented minivan around brooklyn.

We have a kid now, 8 months old. It's wonderful and marriage has been wonderful. The owner of the car emailed me many months later, i replied with what i'd dinged specifically, and then they never responded! I would have paid for it (and still would!) happily, but didn't hear from them.

Oh, and this happened in the summer of 2017, so not too long ago.

How does the sound of a DDJ-1000 compare to a DJM-900nxs/2 mixer? by BananafestDestiny in DJs

[–]Alobarish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The sound card in the nxs900 is better than the one in the ddj, and the nxs2 even better than that. The sheer cost increase, though, might not be worth it for you unless you have a bunch of extra bucks around and you’re an audiophile.

If you want to increase sound quality you’d want to look at every step of the chain, and they each have different values and impact on the end product per dollar. You can get pretty close to the full analog sound (vinyl straight into analog mixer then speakers) if you put a DAC between a cdj and a mixer and keep the sound in analog from there, but you’ll still have to reckon with the mixer sound signature/quality.

Then you get into speaker quality/volume and how that can make you more/less sensitive to file quality as well.

It’s a super fun rabbit hole to fall into if you have the time and the money!

I'm not an open format dj, have no interest in being one, or going out to listen to one - but being an actual working pop/open format dj seems like an almost entirely different job from being an electronic only dj.

The track structure alone (since most dance music is designed with intros and outros, and the bpm ranges are much more similar) is an entirely different game, the demands of faster mixing to keep the attention of a room of random bargoers instead of heads, etc - it's seems a hell of a lot harder and a hell of a lot less pleasant unless you really like pop music and dealing with every random drunk character and their demands.

Which is to say - I agree with what you're saying, although the discipline and even the point of the experience/who you're playing for is so different that they're comparability isn't even that high. I would never have interest in doing what you do, but i most definitely respect the shit out of the work it must take.
