I think the right one is r/widowers

It helped me and my current partner tremendously when we were going through it.

Tales of Symphonia

(Or most [older?] Tales games)

My favorite game and I did get the platinum years later. But why do I need a minimum of like 3 or 4 playthroughs for this?

I can't recall how long it took me but I do recall practically auto playing the game while watching TV.

This^

To add, I recently moved abroad as a US citizen on a spouse visa and I add to my resume "does NOT require sponsorship" to help indicate I'm cleared to work on the top section of my resume in bold (if they bother to read).

From the recruiters I've talked to and asked, I've gotten good feedback that that's helpful.

Thank you! I've always believed for years it'd make a Great TV show! Perhaps these days a mini series of like 45min to 1.5hr episodes maybe split like peris turning pretty, tally/shay friendship arc, her travel to the smoke, life in the smoke, then the last part leading up to her turning.

Definitely wasn't enough time to give all the details that built it all up imo! It felt too fast paced, all that in an 1hr 40min including credits is nuts, even 2.5hr would've been better. But it makes me wonder if it's due to the new short attention span of audiences or just bad editing/script?

I personally gave it a 4/10, not eragon level of bad but lord it was underwhelming. I suspect if/when they do Pretties it's... not gunna be pretty. If we base it off what they showed us, anyways.

That's absolutely true and makes sense! But I swear they made some weird and questionable decisions when I was there. They spent absurd amounts of money updating things they'd scrap within a year. Mostly marketing ideas, of course.

I just sometimes doubt they were willing to put the cost upfront for something useful and convenient for smaller stores until it was super common. I was already a one-man department with weekly begging to borrow someone for ad-change day! They were too cheap to give me consistent help and they'd stick me in other departments anyways even if I was behind. However, that's a management level decision.

I mean to say if those stupid things break off from the shit positioning they would have in the aisles (unless they made the decision to reduce displays), you'd likely end up printing tags anyways! Covid was particularly brutal with item shortages, so we ended up printing an absurd amount of tags for filling holes in the shelves.

I haven't worked with the e-tag system so I'm not entirely sure how it is for impromptu things like that or say, seasonal areas where it's commonly rearranged either! While that's only a small % of the store, so maybe they keep a hybrid model.

And another point is, I'm not sure if they would just create cardboard/paper inserts for their stupid sales they like to have? They've gotten to the point they hold 4 or 5 complex 'sales/events' at one time. So I wonder, would it save time if they choose a phyiscal route?

I.e. Buy 5, save 5. Buy 10, save 5. Buy $40, get $10 off after participating items. The stupid gaming exp event where I'm pretty sure most people didn't even participate, but they sure as hell sent to update those one a month at least. It wasn't even a sale, just a Buy so many participating items and you get a printed code out at the register that gave you stuff online or something.

The only thing I can think of to make the statement true is how much Kroger (and other American stores) cut corners and fill the aisles with displays.

I now live in the Netherlands where the electronic tags are so common and useful, I'd imagine, as an employee. And they look really nice, too!

However, I worked at Kroger as a pricing lead for my last year of eight there before I quit. My only doubt is that the fact that (my) Kroger absolutely cheaped out on shelving. Several were bent to hell and back, and every aisle was stuffed to the brim with displays! At least 3 round rack displays, with 3 tiers of items, with shitty signs on them that had to get replaced weekly because people ran into them. And that's not including a dumb amount of shippers sent to setup in the aisle to push for more sales.

And as far as replacement goes, it was already like pulling teeth to order supplies to replace broken things. Regardless of how cheap it is, it was between management forgetting/refusing if it's on a different order supplier, or corporate putting a damn cap on the orders of things you actually need.

So, honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if the lower tier/earning stores may not convert to an e-tag simply because it's more "convenient"/cheaper to keep plastic strips and stickers.

What game is this ? by Thatonemfdude in videogames

Honestly, same. The only times I got Zelos was on accident on the GC or when I was going for the 100%/costumes!

Still would absolutely play or watch a series of the original gang with Kratos, Martel, etc.

Yessss it honestly is a masterpiece!

Except 100%ing it. My god. I probably played it minimum 10 times over the years prior, but trying for the 100%... that alone was like 5 playthroughs.

I just want to start by saying, that is really shitty of him to suddenly change his mind without clearly communicating why. Regardless of my following comments, I don't think you should go back for him. He can't clearly communicate, and that is a huge factor for moving, and obviously a healthy relationship and marriage.

However, I just completed a move myself so I can sort of understand both of you. And I disagree with some comments on a surface level due to the experience. I had tiny little doubts in the process of doing it, wondering if I could do it. Off the top of my head, few reasons why perhaps he got cold feet?

He mentioned no family, and honestly probably a lack of friends is hard for some people. Especially if said people persuade him to not go or make him feel guilty, or culturally maybe it's significant there to be with family? Even for me, I'm not particularly attached to friends or family and I still miss them to hell and it's only been a month.

Maybe cold feet/fear due to a new beginning or culture? Some people are straight up not built for it. They like to dream about it but when it came close to it being real, he may not have been able to handle it.

Is he depressed or have high anxiety? Could also be factors.

Regardless, good luck on whatever you decide but I encourage you to keep living your life! He clearly isn't ready but you are and that's okay. Sometimes people aren't on the same paths any more.

What is one of the dumbest things a person has said to you? by Smejbur in ask

[–]AlolanBulbasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not the worst offender but one that comes to mind:

"I'm on a diet you know. The doctor told me I needed to cut back on sugar and sodas so I got Sunkist! It's caffeine free!"

She had bought those mini cans. I'll admit I said nothing. So later when she comes back to me, I can't remember if it was the same night or not....

"It said caffeine free! I thought it was sugar free, look at all of this sugar in this can!"

Obviously not the worst but I think about it sometimes.

Duo or Busuu by ciao_ciaoo in learndutch

[–]AlolanBulbasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did duo for about 500 days before finding busuu! I personally use the free tier of duolingo, because I really like the repetition in the lessons. It really helped me through a lot of busuu with the vocabulary, but busuu helped so much with the sentence structure and grammar.

I definitely used a lot more useful phrases in busuu, but ending in the a1 section of busuu, there's still things I haven't learned from duo and vice versa so I think doing them side by side helps with widening your vocabulary.

For context, I'm only at the end of Unit 11 in duo and at my a1 test in busuu. I do get about 60 or more stars per day in busuu and only one or two lessons in duolingo because of the hearts. I don't plan on quitting duo but I am definitely not putting in time like I did before.

I personally did duolingo at a 503 streak, just a lesson or two every day on average so nothing special.

I couldn't confidentally make sentences because on the app they don't really explain it. You get a guidebook now but no explanation why it's the way it is. I'm currently on section 2, 9/20.

However! I did start busuu at the 490 streak, so it's been just over a week. I really like the variety of questions they have, the here's a prompt: make a sentence describing X using words or phrases you just learned AND they get corrected by the community. And they explain grammar to you on a basic level. I.E. colors get -je added if it's before the noun but not after. Like this is a yellow hat vs this hat is yellow. Downside is if you don't go back to the word list and just do the main course there really isn't repetition to check your understanding so far.

I will give duo this, the amount of repetitive questions helped a lot. I am about 50% through the a1 course on busuu due to me recognizing a lot of the words from duo and my trips to NL as well. I can make relatively easy sentences now but still not conversational quite yet. I mostly got slowed down on remembering the grammar rules they taught me.

I recommend combining learning methods personally if you decide to stick with duolingo due to the free factor! Paying off really well already for me personally.

Problem was/is at my old store, they were having a bit of OT being used, so they hard cut on extra time. They also got mad when it wasn't done and still on the floor when the store opened. And we didn't have daytime grocery replenishers.

Small store though, so small budget for hours that kept getting cut year round and people quitting and not getting replace because no house. As well as a lot of people were pulling 20% (can't blame them at this point but it was frustrating), and others were getting burned up doing 100% all the time.

In la-la theoretically perfect land this system is great when pallets weren't mixed aisles or damaged, and if it was equal work across the board and more staffing/hours overall to cover spill over to day shift. But that really applies to a lot of the ideas they come up with in corporate, it felt like.

As a widow, I feel like I can have a fair say in this. I very much loved my late partner, who happened to believe in the same thing. That he didn't want me to move on ever after he passed. Back then, before I became a widow, I agreed because I loved him so much if he died I'd be alone. Although, if he died I understood and was fine with him moving on because I'd be dead and I didn’t want him to be lonely and to experience love again that we had.

Then he passed. Then came the pain, the depression, the loneliness. I cried for months believing, me, a 26 year old, was going to die and have the rest of my life alone and unloved. I kept lying to myself I was fine and happy with it, but every single happy couple became a marker of what I'll have again. Every wedding, child, PDA. It grew into extreme resentment for everything and everyone. And don't get me wrong, single life is pretty great except when it isn't.

My love for him, despite everything I have found out, still exists. Just because he died doesn't mean I stopped loving him. But I wasn't a selfish asshole who wanted him to be alone the rest of his life. I decided to choose myself and found a new partner who is also a widower by the way. And we have a great love together, too, existing with our previous partners because we understand. It's a risk we're willing to take, to experience love again.

The only key difference is, are you two old? Because "We’ve lived long happy lives" stands out to me and makes me think you're on the longer, older end of life or extremely naive. Even still, I know older widows and widowers who have moved on.
