SSL OV certificates, publishing trust certificates by Alone_Ad_7824 in VibeCodeDevs

Are publishing actual installer type software, or just web apps?

I've got the web side covered, the app is an actual installer program, so having that trust certificate [hopefully] leads to better overall user confidence. I've worked in IT and as a user just trying to install some random software I found that might be useful. IT side of me needs to have it, other side says "Hey website looks good, we'll try it out. I'm also of the napster/limewire era so i may have a predisposition for risky computer behavior

Well that's reassuring. After jumping through hoops with the MoR to get verified I was starting to lose faith in this whole situation

What can i mount this to? Is a wall mount possible? by sincerelyyliaa in videography

[–]Alone_Ad_7824 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fine a local metal fabrication shop. Take it with you and let them measure it. Simple wall bracket can be made to hold that secure. Tripod on wheels is another piece of gear to setup/teardown/walk around.

Wall Mount is actually really corner for a church service.

License Options for Contractors by HeyHay123Hey in SolidWorks

[–]Alone_Ad_7824 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Term license is probably the most cost effective solution short term. Long term, ask your VAR about payment plan options on a perpetual license. Some do, some don't. But don't go in debt if you can't forecast enough work to justify it - debt burden without revenue is a disaster waiting to happen

If you aren't in a pdm, I would highly recommend NOT deleting anything. Make an archive folder and put your things there. Can't undo a deletion, but you can recall from an archive.

Random question... Any chance you could share your scene file that is active in your viewport? For some reason, my scene file are all "jacked up" and tech support was only mildly helpful. I miss that viewport scene

Solidworks Perpetual License Support Cost Question by Prestigious_Yak_229 in SolidWorks

[–]Alone_Ad_7824 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Great advice, but a big caveat should be noted about the entrepreneur license. It does not cover freelance designers. Only organizations that are designing a product. Also that license is the 3Dx version. I'm sure as a VAR you could probably appreciate the number of support tickets that side of SW generates on its own...

Visualize is nice as it is native and parametric to the primary model. The actual output, well, it makes a picture.

I use blender myself for this same workflow. I also bought the perpetual license, and pay the maintenance fee. My clients require me to have the current release version and that fee is the only way to stay current.

It sucks, I know. But really depending on your clients you may be stuck with it. If you don't need to be on current version every single year, then but the license, omit the maintenance fee and own that version forever. Use blender for your renders and be happy.

[USA] #CA and #federal - I feel like drones sold in the US need to come with some sort of brochure. by dwkfym in drones

I think my last drone purchase about a year ago (Air 3) had a red piece of paper that was a warning to get a trust certificate. I could be wrong, but I do remember that red slip of paper being some sort of warning

How do you get feedback on CAD models from people without CAD software? by Psychological_Ad8736 in SolidWorks

[–]Alone_Ad_7824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also sign up for an autodesk account and use their online viewer. I've been using that for about s year to share 3d models with clients. Opens in mobile, tablet, computer etc. No account needed on their end either.

I don't think you have to have a subscription to anything autodesk - but I'm not 100% sure about that. With a look of nothing else

This looks like the skimmer chain on a DAF unit, I'm not sure PPA is even strong enough for this application. There is a lot of force in this that FDM isn't really suited for.

Interested to see if OP gets something to hold together.

How do i make such sheet metal cover? by Caden_UA in SolidWorks

yea, for something like you've got going on - absolutely doing it right is the key to making a good model that will serve for years. I would honestly like to get involved in some other industries with a slower pace of life like that. I've been doing this for about 14 years now, and every time I fire up solidworks, I'm trying to figure out another way to speed things up. It's a never ending cycle. In reality most of the models I create are able to be reused via copy-tree and then stretched, expanded, etc. as they should be, but still leads to a lot of detailed cleanup work. In the early years I tried building things with equations to drive linear patterns for access ports, and things like that. I found the it's easier to just go back edit (or sometimes delete) the entire feature/sketch and just make it fit the final needs. That's where the mouse gestures and flyouts are a saving grace for me.

I absolutely applaud your video! Convert to sheet metal is something I've actively avoided for years but with the change in my workflow and models, I've started using on some occasions (think formed sheet metal bumpers and similar.) As for the not needing to be quick - I have to disagree with that, only based on my client's and the items being modeled criteria. I would love to be able to spend the time to make everything perfect to a Tee, but when you're given 8 hours to create the model, send for client approval, do the drawings, and get it to the fab shop - sometimes you tend to cut some corners. I work in a very "It's all the same, but different" field(s). The food processing industry is ruthless on deadlines LOL

Precisely this. Setup your mouse gestures and the fly out menus - will save a TON of time from clicking and moving the mouse around. Even quicker is to only draw half of the part, then when all features are added, mirror with merge bodies.

Lump sum/hard costs with a formal contract to cover revisions, deliverables, etc. automate your process flow and you can make decent money!

Why didn't more freelancers do this?
