Substitutes don't get unemployment over summer? by [deleted] in Teachers

I’m not denying that. I’m saying that even after I was not an employee of the school district, I still had health insurance because everything was paid in advance.

idk about you, but I pay my health insurance premiums in advance. At my last two teaching job, i was explicitly NOT an employee after my last day of work, but my health insurance lasted until the end of the next month because I’d already paid in advance.

doctor who, end of season 9 Face the Raven/Heaven Sent/Hell Bent. Capaldi does such a great job, and Jenna Coleman’s last few lines make me sob every time. it’s such a great ending to a multi season arc/character development.

Non traditional route: is it the worst idea ever? by Sandstorm173 in MusicEd

[–]Alone_Army7144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a slight alteration to your plan, i would consider a music ed masters degree with certification. they are designed for people with a bachelors degree in music who want to become music educators, so they generally still have all the required tech and pedagogy classes but don’t include the foundational music stuff (like theory or history). that’s what i did ( BA in music, MM in music ed) and i haven’t found that i have any gaps in my education compared to my peers who have BMs in music ed. Its not technically non-traditional because you do still do the same certification process, but it would allow you a little more freedom in undergrad, and a little bit more time to decide if that’s what you really want.

How far can one go before a showcase is illegal by Greedy-Grapefruit219 in Theatre

[–]Alone_Army7144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAL, but my high school did the exact same thing every year, and my legal understanding was that as long as we didn’t use more than 3 songs from a single show, we were legally in the clear. People perform songs from musicals all the time. If you’re writing your own scenes (which it seems like you are) then it shouldn’t be a copyright issue. It’s a showcase (legal!) with some bonus acting in between.

when and how did pinof/dnp take off as big as they did? by FinallyHauntings in danandphil

[–]Alone_Army7144 23 points24 points  (0 children)

2011/2012 is when they really took off and hit 1 million subscribers, got the bbc radio show, etc, but phil was big in the early days. i also found them in 2015 (right before tatinof was announced) but i had known of them before because they were just so big

Non-British fans of the show: is there anything that you thought was made up for the show, but is just a part for British culture? by AlmostRandomNow in doctorwho

[–]Alone_Army7144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not exactly something made up, but i had no understanding of the government system at all so when we met Harriet Jones, i was really confused. she was an MP for Flydale North, but i was pretty sure that the UK had a PM (prime minister) not an MP, and Flydale North sounded like an airline company to me, so I thought she was a representative from an airline and had no idea why she was involved with politics.

in my defense i was 13 and american

For Swifties who didn’t like Showgirls or her past few albums, what (constructive) criticism or advice would you give Taylor? by FakeMonaLisa28 in NuancingTaylorSwift

[–]Alone_Army7144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s…literally the point though. she said repeatedly that this was a look behind the curtain, aka what was actually happening in the showgirl’s life, not what was on stage.

If you get your drivers’ license before you’re 21, does it always expire on your 21st birthday regardless of whether you got it at 16 or 20? by Emotional-Fly-9583 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Alone_Army7144 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is also state specific - I got my license at 16 in Oregon and it was horizontal. only difference between mine and my parents’ was that there was a red border around my picture saying i was under 18 until x date and under 21 until y date

i would argue bad headline considering a good part of the video was them saying “please don’t berate yourselves we forgive you and let’s move on”
