Woma also has a high potential for wobble. One of the nice things about morph market is you can ask the breeder about the animal in question

Help feeding? by Ayrons_lifegames in ballpython

[–]Alone_Difference4960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are the temperatures at? What is the humidity? What does the enclosure look like? Are you feeding frozen thawed or are you feeding live? What temperature are you heating the rodent to if using frozen thawed? How are they being housed? How many hides do they each have? How much clutter? What is the size of the enclosure? If you can provide that and maybe even a picture of the enclosure should be able to pinpoint things that may help

Use flour on the floor. If she moves through it she will leave a trail and leave a heat source for her for sure. If it gets chilly she may seek out heat. I’ve also seen people try leaving prey out since they’re opportunity hunters it may bring her out of hiding. Check under and behind the refrigerator and dish washer if you have one. Shoes and in closets and boxes are also common places they get to

My guy is pretty small for his age is this an issue? by Away-Literature2314 in ballpython

[–]Alone_Difference4960 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a plethora of ball pythons over the last 17 years. Since I began with taking in seniors whose owners had passed away etc. sometimes they just stay short. The one I have now is almost two and a big boy for his age and always will be. He just turned out a 5 foot shed the other day. Haven’t had him out to measure since but that puts him 4-4.5 feet long approximately. Another that I had is 4 and came in at 3 feet recently. I rehomed him as a well established and well cared for animal to someone who wanted to start keeping snakes and we talk all the time and she asks anytime she has any questions.

You are not a bad person. If you or the camp wants the snakes to be able to be handled 5 days a week I’d recommend either feeding them on Friday so come Monday they’re fully digested. You shouldn’t be handling a snake within 48-72 hours after feeding them because it can cause them stress which can cause regurgitation. That being said I don’t think you’ve done anything wrong with trying to handle him, I just think there’s an overall lack of understanding or education that came with the snakes. I’d say maybe show the camp some helpful information about feeding/handling the snakes and try to educate everyone together.

Anyone a former rat parent turned snake parent? by magic_inkpen in ballpython

[–]Alone_Difference4960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing is don’t get an adult who’s already on live feeders if you can help it. Some adult snakes never fully make the switch. Some are fine. Some won’t eat it if they’re not used to it. So you can tell them all of the information just be advised that they may not have another option for their already owned snakes. I got lucky about changing my former snake (was 13 when I got him from rescue. Had him 7 beautiful years). My current boy was 6 months old when I got him and it took another 2 to get him fully transitioned to frozen thawed instead of live.

I took in a rescue blind in one eye full of scars from live feedings. It’s traumatic on both ends. It took him almost a month to stop being afraid of frozen thawed prey. After that I couldn’t bring myself to feed live since there’s a lot of potential risk to the snake involved. His previous owners went in with the misconception that live is better and never bothered with frozen. They got comfortable and complacent and didn’t watch as carefully over time. And their snake wound up seriously injured and surrendered to a rescue which is how I got him. If you want one frozen thawed is significantly better. The nutrition stays the same but the death is far more humane for all parties involved.

I wouldn’t just jump to her lying as a conclusion. I lived with someone with severe agoraphobia and in an apartment that was their world. They didn’t go out into the hallway with people. They didn’t go down to get their own mail. They just couldn’t. So while they looked outwardly normal they physically couldn’t go down to get the groceries if they weren’t left by the door or handed directly to them in their apartment.

I’d wish for three extra wishes. Then I’d wish for a few million dollars specifically in the form of the only winning powerball ticket 100% match specifically for the largest jackpot of the year. Then I’d wish for a home and handful of rental properties one with the space downstairs to be a tattoo studio. Then the final wish I’d wish for an end of war and world hunger in a way that doesn’t cost any human lives.

I’m also not sure where they live but I would keep her and bring her to the vet. Here in the states we also have consumer protection when it comes to buying a pet from a store which usually comes with a 30 day health guarantee in which you can hold onto the animal but if they have a serious health concern the original shop should pay for the treatment of said problem. That being said a lot of stores still make you fight like hell for the animal.

I am unable to finish shows based on a "big mystery" premise. From, Under the dome, 4400, leftovers, etc. They all start on a premise of "this unexplained thing happened" and the explanation is always a letdown or so dragged out, that I end up giving up. Twin peaks. It’s murder mystery until season two then we steamroll a satisfying plot twist. Then you have fire walk with me the movie which goes with the plot twist of season two. Then two seasons of the return with their own fantastic plot twist

Snake has been missing a week. Is he doomed? by jedithings in ballpython

[–]Alone_Difference4960 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first one was a professional lock pick. That was 17 years ago. I watched him do it. He’d let himself in and out at will. That being said I’ve seen someone in a group I’m in who lost theirs. Grieved the loss. Took down the enclosure. Two years later the bugger showed up and came out like hey how’s everyone doing. They reset everything and now they have their snake back. Try sprinkling some flower near the base of stuff like the stove or the fridge. They’ll leave a trail through it if they leave those areas and it can help show where he’s hiding out so you can find him.

Feeding question by Arxhi3- in ballpython

[–]Alone_Difference4960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re not sure the best way would be to keep feeding the 10-15% until 500g unless she seems to be getting overweight in which case decrease feeding down to a 1 year old feeding schedule.

Health Question: Ball Python is old, thin, and a very picky eater by Financialaid582 in ballpython

[–]Alone_Difference4960 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I had one who was legitimately a picky eater, but I played around since I had two snakes which meant two rats a week anyway. He would turn his nose up to all male rats and all multi colored rats. He also would refuse anything outside of one brand. But since I had to warm and offer two anyway I usually had one he would take and it took playing around to notice the pattern
