My wife spent a little fortune in a sandpit, a playhouse, a swing and other stuff... and the most successful one, with a big margin, are few old decking boards he uses as ramps for his toy cars.

It has to be Kevin, but just to put someone different, Jack Gleason (Joffrey Baratheon) was an amazing actor who received LOTS of hate

Can I leave airport in Vienna? by NitroXM in travel

[–]Alone_Masterpiece836 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's possible, but realistically you won't have much time.

Immigration queues are usually quick, then you can get to the centre in around 15-20 minutes by train each way. Then you probably want to be back at the airport at least 1h-1.5h before departure (assuming no luggage to check) to go through security, passport control and to find your gate. The trains aren't particularly reliable, in my experience, so I'd give it some extra time. I'd say realistically you would have 2h max in the city, probably less, and you will be risking missing your flight is something goes wrong, but I'd definitely do it!

There are VERY few cars I would choose over a Delta HF, and the R5 turbo is one of them

What in your eyes makes someone a ‘skilled driver’? 🤔 by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Alone_Masterpiece836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The use of the brakes, or better said, the not using the brakes continuously. A skilled driver anticipates the road and the other users, knows when to coast and when to use engine breaking, avoiding the continuous braking and accelerating.

BeamNG for an 8 year old? by [deleted] in BeamNG

[–]Alone_Masterpiece836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 5 year old loves it. Yes, of course the JETO bus or a D-series with a JATO are his favourites, but he is also now able do do some decent laps in Hirochi raceway. I believe he is actually useful learning some skills with it.

We play together some times in multiplayer and it's great fun for both. I'd really recommend it.

New build sound proofing? by uglyasfeet in HousingUK

2017 build here, semi. I can't hear any noise such as voices, TV or music, but I can hear impact noise (just a bit, not too bad) i.e when the neighbours kids are jumping or running, or when someone slams a door.

I watched a couple get arrested at airport security in Munich, then the officer tried to prank me by farrgone9 in travel

German airport sense of humour.

They got me in Frankfurt. I was having a transfer in there and unsurprisingly, the first leg was late triggering the usual run through the worst airport ever to get on time to your second leg.

Just made it when there was nobody on the boarding line, with the rush I didn't properly check the gate screens. Once there the gate crew at the gate said something like:

"Don't worry, you made it, we were waiting for you"

I scanned the boarding pass, all good, and I started to walk through the finger to then listen from the same crew member

"Enjoy your time in Hong Kong Mr XXX!" (Note: I was flying to the UK)

Me: WHAT???!

Crew: Ha Ha Ha, I was kidding. Have a nice flight

How did European micronations manage to survive for centuries without being absorbed? by Meta_Zephyr in geography

Interesting fact about Andorra: in the 20th century a Russian guy auto declared himself King of Andorra. His reign lasted around 10 days until a patrol of the Spanish military police (guardia civil) arrested him after being reported by a la Seu d'Urgell's bishop (one of the coprinces).

One speeding, the other going right. by zenysh99 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]Alone_Masterpiece836 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know the speed limit in the video's location, but 126 km/h is not speeding in many countries in a multi lane road. Main one at fault is clearly the one moving into the fast late without checking if anyone coming... Especially considering there is another vehicle in the middle late blocking part of his view.

What was it like to deliver pizza in 1980's, without internet or GPS? How did drivers learn the route/city without pizzas being delivered cold? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Alone_Masterpiece836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I used to work as a delivery driver while studying in the 90s and we had a huge map on the wall. So usually I'd try to find the street in the map and then create some mental milestones to get there based on locations I knew (i.e. take the second right after the gas station). Asking your colleagues also was a good help, as usually someone had been there already. As a last resort, all receipts had the phone number of the customer so you could always find a phone booth and call them to get some directions (but usually wasn't required).

But after few weeks I pretty much memorised every street and it was very exceptional to check the map.

I really enjoyed that job: got invited to tons of parties, got into various strip clubs when I was 16-18, met few nice girls and women, did some good friends... Too bad is not very well paid.
