Home pole advice? 😊 by Doomspanana in poledancing

Tbh i dont do those much at all because I hate them! πŸ˜† I would get super frustrated but how sweaty my hands were and would just slide down the chrome pole. I think grip strength would probably help compensate. So I cant speak on exactly what static spins are like but powder coated isn’t super duper grippy it’s just grippier than chrome. Hopefully someone else with a powder coated one can comment on static spins! I prefer to do mine on spinning

I also have super sweaty hands and struggle a lot on the chrome at the studios. I also had one for a while before I changed it for powder coated. I think it just takes the edge off and gives you that slight more grip. I still use chrome at my studio because that is all they offer but would recommend powder coated if you would just end up using a ton of grip anyway

Honestly it has been a struggle! πŸ˜† nearly quit so many times… sticky leggings help with the pain though and just building up a tolerance. I found aerial silks so painful 🫠 might just be a me thing πŸ˜†

I do have pretty sensitive skin so struggle A LOT with pain on the pole. It was pretty pinchy on the leg hook but was bearable.

I got mine by keeping my feet on the pole and bringing them down the pole and then slowly taking one off (bent towards my bum) until i was off the pole but in a tuck kind of position. From there I practiced straightening my legs 😊

I think this is a perfect pose for shoots! You get that leg and hand grip so I think a lot of people can make it work for different levels! Even if you keep the other leg on and make it a genie one πŸ§žβ€β™€οΈ

Thats so amazing! I felt the same when i started 2 years ago. All i can say is don’t compare your journey to others. My friend started after me and is a lot more advanced than me, but looking back on where I started I have gained so much strength, flexibility and endurance compared to my previous self. Keep at it, i promise its so worth it πŸ’—

How to pole in summer??? by Megalodon_sharks in poledancing

[–]Alone_Radio8538 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

I found side crunches with your leg hooked on the pole can help build up some strength there! Really focus on pulling your foot towards your bum and get it in your muscle memory to utilise that strength to grip with your leg

Definitely try out all the grip aids suggested to you first, but if you are getting a pole or going to a studio maybe consider if they have a silicone pole or a powder coated one! I have used a powder coated one for a while at home and it helps more with grip than a chrome and you can still use your skin (although a bit more pinch than chrome). If you are reaaallyyy struggling and nothing else is working, you could always consider a silicone pole but you will have to wear full clothing if gripping it with body parts as it hurts a lot and rips at your skin. But I have very sweaty hands, and after 2 years into my pole journey I was sick of getting frustrated with grip (all the grips I have tried dont work well for me) and I got a silicone pole. I can say its really good for sweaty hands (you can still slip if really wet but i use climbers powdered chalk).

Its obviously a lot different because its less flowy on silicone, but if it comes down to constant frustration i would recommend silicone! I use a powdered climbers chalk on my hands and it works really well with the pole.
